Chapter 832: Two Useless People.
Money Speed had been distracted earlier because she was trying to figure out what had gone wrong. But after she was shaken by Money Body, she snapped to attention and answered his question.
She said, "The dragon produced a dark wave of energy from its mouth. The energy is black and corrosive like the river of death. It is draining us of our lifespan."
Forced Exchange added with a cry of surprise, "It also has a strange power to lock us in place. We can see anything or hear anything, and we can’t move at all."
When Money Body heard what they said, he became even more agitated. His eyes became bloodshot as he asked, saying, "Can you break this ability?"
Money Speed shook her head and said, "I can’t. It has locked me in place. The Money Speed Metac can’t break me free, even though I’m spending a lot of divine merit points. At this rate, I can only wait to die."
Money Body turned to Forced Exchange next. He didn’t say anything, but both the unspoken and the hidden question were clear to Forced Exchange.
Forced Exchange felt bitter about both questions. But even though he was reluctant, he still said, "I will use the Forced Exchange Metac on it. But I still need to know what Divine Metac it is using."
The unspoken question that Money Body meant to ask him was if he could break the ability freezing them. The hidden question was whether he was going to spend his precious 500 divine merit points to break the attack of the dragon and turn the tables.
He couldn’t say that he couldn’t handle the dragon without actually trying his best. But to try his best, he would have to spend 500 divine merit points. So he was reluctant to use the Forced Exchange Metac.
Fortunately, he didn’t know what Divine Metac to target, and no one else here knew. So it seemed he wouldn’t be forced to waste his divine merit points on a Divine Metac that he wouldn’t be able to use.
As he waited for a suggestion about what Divine Metacs the dragon possessed, but no one provided one, Forced Exchange was relieved. But Money Body was not happy at all.
The rank 8 money cultivator threw Money Speed away and cursed both Forced Exchange and her, saying, "Useless, both of you. It seems I will have to do this myself."
In the real world of the first dimension, Money Body entered the third dimension. Then he soared into the air.
Nether Flame and Ant Hill watched him leave with confusion on their faces. They had a lot of questions regarding his actions. Since he wasn’t willing to clear their confusion, they could only shrug and continue to wait.
Money Body passed through the crystal shield of the small world and took off in the direction of the Blessed Heaven World. As soon as he exited the crystal shield, he received a message from the sect.
The message said, "For violating the order to remain on stand by at the meeting point for the foreseeable future, you have been fined 100 divine merit points."
"You will be fined an extra 100 divine merit points for every hour that you’re away. So you’re advised to return to the meeting point as soon as possible."
"If you are not on the ground by the time every member of the mission has assembled, your fine will be increased to 1,000 points per hour of truancy. You have been warned."
After he read the message, he snorted in displeasure and thought, ’They asked me to stay put indefinitely as if I’m some prisoner who should have no freedom of movement. I think they’re just doing it to see me suffer.’
The sect asked him to make himself available for the mission. They didn’t give him a choice about the matter, and they didn’t tell him how long he was supposed to wait.
Apparently, he was supposed to sit around waiting for the rest of the mission partners, and if he needed to wait until the end of time, so be it. Clearly, the sect didn’t respect him or value his time.
If it wasn’t already clear that he was a slave to the sect, the fact that the sect didn’t offer to pay him for sacrificing his time should clear up that fact for anyone still in denial.
Not that he needed this extra spit on his face to know his place. He had long known what the sect thought of him, so he wasn’t surprised when he saw the sect increase the cost of his fine by ten times.
At the end of the day, he stopped thinking about the sect and how they were treating him. After all, there was nothing he could do to change that.
The only thing he could do now to create a better future for himself was to go and seize that dragon. So he urged all of his Divine Metacs and used them to increase his speed to the max. Because of this, he turned into a golden star streaking through the void.
On the other side, Forced Exchange and Money Speed were suffering. The black force field of the Devouring Ability had covered them and formed a cocoon around them.
His hand was on their necks, grabbing them, and he was running. The Danger Sense Metac was firing on full cylinders and working full time to tell him about every source of danger around him. He used this information to navigate around the second heaven.
He avoided areas with great danger and went in the direction of areas with low danger. This is how he avoided the powerful giants and found the duo from the Thorn House of Commerce.
Right now, Forced Exchange and Money Speed have both been locked in a cocoon of devouring power. This is something he learned to do thanks to the superior control he gained over the devouring force field after he advanced to rank 9.
