Chapter 229: Kill

"Are both of you all right?" Mathias asked in a grim tone. He felt this was his fault. He should have given Auric more protection.

Ellia gave a firm nod, while Auric said, "There are a total of 24 people—two are rank 4, including Professor Schad, and the rest are rank 3."

"That bastard is not qualified to be called a professor." Mathias looked around. "In any case, there are only 14 people left then."

"I have secured some evidence from the safe house, but don’t destroy any houses in the neighborhood. Prof... I mean, Schad should be fighting in the woods further south by himself. The rest should be nearby."

"No need to explain further. I’ll just bring you with me because staying with me is the safest." Mathias waved his hand.

A wave of energy enveloped their bodies and turned into a sphere, lifting them into the air.

"..." Auric and Ellia couldn’t help but look around. A burst of fire killed ten people at once, and Mathias could control his energy so well that he could help make fly without touching them.

The wings flapped as Mathias flew forward. Auric and Ellia saw the people who had been stopped by the rank 4 beast.

"There they are!"

"Good. 13 people. It’s perfect. I only need one person alive." Mathias’s killing intent couldn’t be contained anymore.

Auric couldn’t help but feel a chill down his spine. ’This killing intent...’

"You’d better watch out. This guy has killed so many beasts and humans. Most likely, more than a hundred thousand combined."

Auric was quite surprised. That number couldn’t be underestimated. It was rare to find a beast wave with several thousand beasts, let alone tens of thousands.

Even if one was coming, Mathias should conserve his strength so that he wouldn’t be severely injured. After all, it could threaten his position and family. That was why killing that many beasts would take decades of constant battle.

In a way, Auric couldn’t help but admire Mathias as a person. He was truly a fighter. At the same time, his method was rather radical.

That killing intent spread throughout the entire area. The rank 4 beast, as well as the agents could feel it.

"!!!" R looked up and realized that a terrifying being had just arrived. R shouted, "Not good! Run away!"

They thought scattering would be a good way to escape because Mathias couldn’t chase them one by one.

Unfortunately for them, Mathias wasn’t fazed by their decisions.

"It’s futile." Mathias raised his hand. "Since all of them are here, let’s wipe them all."

Suddenly, the sky turned bright as if the sun had descended.

Auric was startled and looked up. The sky split open as numerous fireballs fell from the sky, each one as massive as a house.

It felt like he was watching a meteor shower, but up close.

Ellia muttered, "So, this is the power of rank 6."

"Armageddon." Mathias waved down his hand.

The falling fireballs were controlled as if Mathias moved every single fireball to target one living being.

"What?!" R was startled. He tried to run away, but the fireball chased him as though it were tracking his every movement.

"Kh... I’m not going to die!" R shouted and turned around, creating a blade that expanded until it was as big as the fireball.

The dark energy tried to engulf the fireball, but the fireball simply set everything ablaze and continued toward R.

"Goddamnit." R gritted his teeth as the fireball hit him.

The fireball exploded and devoured everything, burning R to ashes. The explosion lit up the entire area as the fire continued to burn everything. The road melted and the trees caught fire.

This was happening all over the area as the fireballs killed both the humans and the beasts without discrimination.

Even the rank 4 beast that tried to use its toughness to deal with the fireball ended up being reduced to ashes.

With everything happening at the same time, the entire area was engulfed in flame.

Auric couldn’t help but gasp. Even when Mathias used this ability, Auric could see that he was holding back.

This was Mathias’s level after holding back.

Auric thought, ’If he didn’t hold back, how strong would this attack be?’

Lindwurm said, "Well, if it were unleashed within the capital city without anyone fighting back, he could probably destroy a fourth of the capital city with this attack alone."

’A fourth?’ Auric was stunned. The capital city was the largest by area. In a way, Lindwurm was telling him that Mathias could actually decimate Thunderer City in one attack if he wanted to.

"Still, it’s quite rare for someone to become as strong as him. So, don’t use him as your standard." Lindwurm shrugged.

While Auric was in complete shock, Mathias looked around and said, "Good. All those cockroaches have died."

Mathias continued to fly, finding the neighborhood.

"Hmm? It looks like that guy has escaped." Mathias raised his head. It looked like Professor Schad had sensed him coming and hurried away.

However, Mathias didn’t intend to let anyone off this time. He continued onward. He didn’t take too much time to kill all those people, so there was no way Professor Schad could be far.

As he expected, Professor Schad was flying away, using his wind to carry him away. Unfortunately, he couldn’t fly fast enough.

The beasts noticed him, allowing Mathias to know where he was going.

So, Mathias simply released the energy from within the wings to act like a jet, increasing his speed further. It didn’t take him too long to catch up.

Without hesitation, Mathias dove and hit Professor Schad, knocking him to the ground.

Bam!

The punch was powerful enough to create a crater upon impact, but Professor Schad was still alive.

Mathias simply grabbed him by the head. Although he wanted to skin him alive, it was better to keep him alive to get more information from him.

Professor Schad couldn’t even let out a scream before he was taken down.

Looking at his pathetic state, Mathias couldn’t help but ask Auric, "Maybe I should let him struggle for a bit. Maybe make him beg for mercy in front of you so that it will be more satisfying."

Auric scratched the back of his head. "You don’t have to do that. It’s good that everything is settled."

"..." Mathias sighed and flew back. "So, where is the safe house?"

"This way." Auric led him to the safe house. "The evidence is in Ellia’s storage. Do you want me to take it out?"

"Hmm." Mathias first looked at Auric’s expression. "Are you okay after all this?"

"I’m fine." Auric nodded. "Well, I’ve got more information. For example, the enemy seems to plan to transport me, and the escort will come approximately nine hours from now. And I can point out the guards who are in cahoots with them. This is how we were brought here without any suspicion."

"You know all that?" Mathias widened his eyes in shock. He thought Auric would be traumatized by this kidnapping.

Let alone traumatized, he even secured evidence, provided more information, and could even point out the corrupt guards.

"Yeah." Auric nodded.

Ellia didn’t say anything. She had seen how Auric was able to handle all the situations as though he could see things that she couldn’t. So, Auric might have learned something while she was unconscious.

It was better not to question Auric’s methods. It didn’t seem that Auric used illegal methods either.

So, it was fine to let Auric do whatever he wanted.

Mathias thought for a moment before saying, "You should take out the evidence. I’ll personally handle this matter."

"I understand." Auric turned to Ellia.

Ellia took out everything, including the safe deposit box. "This is everything. There might be more evidence in this house."

"Very well." Mathias nodded. "Relax for a few minutes. Reinforcement should come soon."

"Reinforcement?"

"Yeah." Mathias crossed his arms. "So, this is the doing of that organization?"

"Indeed. It seems that they’re reporting to someone called the director."

"The director..." Mathias shook his head. "I don’t follow the information about this case, so I don’t know much. At least, that lad, Arnie, is coming here. I will just discuss the case with him."

Auric looked up, recalling everything. "I think that’s all I can find. Should I also tell you about their potential motive?"

"Sure. You’re the one directly involved, so your opinion matters a lot."

Auric raised one finger. "In that case, they seem to be targeting me. They are trying to take Elia hostage to control me. Then again, the fact that I can wield multiple elements is somehow related to their poison that contains multiple elements, right?

"At this point, they might have suspected me to be the evolution master who could dispel their poisons."

"Well, I heard about the beast wave." Mathias nodded in agreement. "You were a student there, so it wasn’t that hard to figure that out."

Auric continued, "Still, they also considered killing Ellia and the others, but not me. In other words, they wanted me alive. That was why they tried to kidnap me. They must want something from me... most likely related to the poison or multiple elements."

Mathias rubbed his chin, carefully pondering the situation. "I can understand the situation. It looks like the situation is messier than I expected."

"I know." Auric could imagine how powerful the organization was. The fact that even Kallarnos University had been infiltrated meant that other universities might have been compromised as well.

Their targets were the students, so it made sense to have someone monitoring everything from the inside.

If there were large-scale events, they might use it to execute their plan.

"Is that all?"

"For now, yes." Auric nodded.

"Take a rest then. It must be quite tiring." Mathias didn’t say anything about Auric’s injuries since he already knew that Auric had a healing ability. Auric should be able to handle his own injuries.

Besides, the reinforcement had arrived.

Mathias raised his finger and formed a small fire before sending it up. The small fire exploded like a firework.

In just seconds, Lunaria and the shadow guards descended in front of the house.

"Father." Lunaria nodded to Mathias.

"Lunaria, I will need you to escort these two kids back to the city. By the way, Auric can point out the guards who might be in cahoots with them. Detain them first. I will tell Arnie about the situation so that he can handle the other things."

"Understood. What about you, Father?"

"I will stay here and wait for Arnie. Their escort is expected to arrive early in the morning, so I will just discuss the case with Arnie until they come, though I doubt they will. After all, they might know that this operation has been compromised." Mathias shrugged.

"Do you need me to bring that guy as well? I, for sure, would like to stab him a couple of times."

"Haha. Don’t worry. Arnie and I will handle this guy. He’ll surely experience something worse."

Lunaria nodded. "In that case, I will bring the children back."
