Chapter 227: Running Away
A moment ago.
"Ellia!" Auric shouted. Both of them immediately looped around the tree as if they were trying to get away from Professor Schad.
However, Professor Schad wasn’t planning to let them go. His wind crushed the trees and the ground, but that burst also generated enough power to blow Auric and Ellia away.
Auric was trying to protect himself, while Ellia covered their bodies with her energy, protecting them from the strong gale.
They knew how fast Professor Schad could be. They had experienced that speed firsthand.
That was why both of them knew the timing of their teleportation.
Right before Professor Schad turned toward them, they had already activated their ability, so that when Professor Schad arrived, they could teleport.
However, the one who used that power was not Auric. He didn’t teleport them.
Instead, it was Ellia. The reason they looped around the tree was not to get away. It was to create an illusion that Professor Schad was in control. At that time, he would think Auric activated his ability out of panic.
As a result, Professor Schad and the tiger clashed.
Auric immediately said, "Throw your grenades everywhere."
Of course, because Auric wasn’t the one who activated the teleportation ability, Auric could still use that ability.
Auric immediately established his ’Edict’ with the power of Void Step. Before activating this power, however, Auric sent forth lightning in all directions as though he were fighting a beast.
"They’re coming!" Lindwurm warned Auric while looking at the sky.
That was when Auric activated his ability, teleporting both of them not to the surrounding area, but back to the safe house.
Yes, Auric actually chose to return to the safe house.
When R and the other agents reached the area, they were immediately surrounded by beasts.
"Kill them!" The agents spread out and killed all the beasts they could see.
R looked around and shouted, "They should be nearby. The distance of that teleportation ability should be quite short, so they should be around."
Upon receiving their order, all the agents started searching for Auric and Ellia, but they were nowhere to be found, which confused them again.
Meanwhile, Ellia couldn’t help but feel impressed. After reaching the safe house, Ellia finally understood Auric’s entire plan.
"You first used my teleportation to restrain Professor Schad, but you made him think that you were the one using that ability. In other words, your ability would be restricted for a short period, so no more tricks could be used.
"Then, you attacked the beasts nearby to create an illusion that you were defending yourself, luring the agents toward them. The first teleportation showed that we couldn’t teleport far away. And hiding your space element also made them think you had to draw out my power to use that ability, so after using it, the ability couldn’t be used again for a short period.
"You used the teleportation ability this time, not to go anywhere nearby. Instead, you returned to this place since there was no way they would think we would go back here.
"Seriously, you know... your plan this time is insane. Have the old foxes in the capital city turned you into one of them?"
Ellia was truly impressed. Back when they first met, Auric was quite terrible. He could solve one problem, but he couldn’t think of the bigger picture.
However, Auric had grown to a certain level after studying at Grand Magica College for a while.
Still, Auric reached a whole new level after studying in the capital city for two weeks.
"Well..." Auric’s voice suddenly changed as if his nose were stuffed.
Ellia looked to the right and saw him having a nosebleed. It reminded her of the time Auric used this ability in the hospital.
"Wait. You’re overdoing it." Ellia hurriedly took out a handkerchief and wiped his nose. "Come on. Let me see. We should take it easy."
"No time. We should get away." Auric raised his head. "There are two options. First, go back to that room and wait to be rescued. Secondly, we will head to the main road immediately. Also, I will try to call reinforcements again."
Ellia thought for a moment. The safe house should be a good choice, but Professor Schad saw through their trick earlier and found them. There was a chance he would see their trick again and capture them in the safe house.
So, the second option was safer in her opinion. "If you want my opinion, it’s better for us to get as far away as possible."
"In that case, let’s get away. Thankfully, those people have killed a lot of beasts in this area." Auric nodded with a serious expression. "Let’s go."
Ellia agreed. She wanted to thank Auric for everything, but it wasn’t the right time to talk yet.
So, she followed Auric, making sure that she didn’t let his hand go.
Auric asked Lindwurm to take the lead as he made his way toward the main road.
Because the enemies had killed the beasts in the area, Auric could spare a bit of his attention to the phone.
"Auric! Are you okay?"
"Yes, sir. We have managed to get away, but they might be able to catch up."
"I should reach that place in six minutes. Hang in there."
"We will head to the main road then."
"Got it. Be careful, this place is dangerous."
"Understood."
Mathias didn’t say much. As long as he gave the time, it was more than enough for Auric. At the very least, Auric would be able to keep his hopes up.
They just needed to survive for the next six minutes.
Besides, Lindwurm remembered the path that the enemy took when they brought them here, so this path should be quite safe. If not, Professor Schad would have been attacked on the way.
Auric continued onward while scanning the entire area. Lindwurm was watching over him from the air.
Unfortunately, their escape wasn’t as smooth as Auric expected.
"Incoming from the left, fast!" Lindwurm warned.
"!!!" Auric narrowed his eyes. From scanning the area, he couldn’t exactly teleport to any spots. "Prepare for battle!"
Ellia was startled, but it also meant that there was no other way. Ellia gripped her sword tightly, ready to intercept the enemy.
Suddenly, a bull charged through all the trees in its path and reached their location.
Ellia looped around Auric and headed toward the bull. She swung her sword downward and released the space element as if it were the extension of her blade.
However, the bull took the hit head-on. Ellia’s power was far from enough to even scratch the bull.
Auric clicked his tongue. "It’s a rank 4 bull!"
Lindwurm gritted his teeth. "It must be drawn by the blood here."
Those agents had killed many beasts here because of their trick, so Auric couldn’t help but think, ’Was going here a bad idea?’
If they entered a forest, they could proceed with the previous method instead of encountering this situation.
Lindwurm said, "Other spots have even more beasts because they haven’t been thinned out. It’s far worse than the forest. This is the best route."
"!!!" Ellia was startled by the power of the bull as she was knocked back by it.
Her body flew toward Auric as if the bull were aiming for him.
Auric clicked his tongue and caught Ellia, his feet sliding on the ground in order to kill the momentum.
After seeing the humans, the bull raised its head and roared.
The roar was no less powerful than the tiger’s roar from earlier. It alerted all the beasts in the surroundings.
The worst part was that someone also heard it.
Professor Schad widened his eyes. He had been following the sound of the wind, so his ears were more sensitive than the others.
That was why he couldn’t help but hear the roar coming from far away.
The moment he heard that roar, he suddenly realized what was going on, especially since other agents were still searching for Auric.
There was no way they would find Auric. After all, Auric had teleported in the direction of the safe house. In other words, they had been tricked one more time.
It was a clever trick. They made it seem as if they were still there, fighting the beasts, even though they had actually left the area.
"Shit." Professor Schad gritted his teeth. "Idiots! All of you are being fooled by them. They have gone in the direction of the safe house. They’re escaping!"
His voice echoed from the radio. All those agents were startled. This was the first time they had encountered such an annoying ability.
R immediately turned back and led the team to the safe house. "Go back!"
On the other hand, Auric and Ellia were surrounded.
There were about twenty beasts encircling them, with a rank 4 bull standing in front of them.
"Dancing again?" Auric asked.
"We have no other choice. I will let you lead this time." Ellia nodded.
"Let’s do it then." Auric released his energy.
In that instant, the bull let out another roar, ordering the beasts to attack them.
Lindwurm was also giving a warning. "Those people have noticed it. They’re coming!"
Auric’s expression turned solemn. They still needed another four and a half minutes before getting rescued.
When the beasts were about to pounce on them, Auric teleported into the air. He pointed his palm toward the ground.
Piercing Thunder.
He used the lightning-element battle technique and fused it with the wind element, causing the bolt of lightning that hit the ground to spark in all directions as it was carried by the wind.
The beasts were electrocuted, but only one of them died. Most suffered minor injuries, but they were still fine.
The bull stomped the ground. The rocks emerged from the ground, creating a rocky slope whose spikes attacked Auric and Ellia like spikes and provided footings for other beasts.
Ellia immediately switched with Auric and twisted her body to avoid the spikes and step on the rock. While carrying Auric in her hand, she climbed to the peak and leaped further.
"..." Ellia couldn’t help but glance to the side. Now that she was in the air, she could see the incoming humans.
Ellia raised her sword, but the bull manifested multiple rocks above its head and threw them toward her and Auric.
Hence, she had to use her Void Step, teleporting them to the ground outside the encirclement.
The bull was surprised, but it found both of them right after. It charged toward them, refusing to let them escape.
"Get ready to cover my energy," Auric muttered in a low voice while looking back.
Ellia nodded, knowing that Auric wanted to use perfect timing to send the bull toward the enemies.
Roar!
The bull sped up. Since Auric hadn’t given the signal, Ellia struck the bull again.
Auric used his Plant General and imbued the roots with his earth element to make them sturdier, trying to stop the bull.
Unfortunately, it could only slow down the bull for a second. The bull completely overpowered the roots.
At the last moment, Auric manifested his wind, generating a burst that knocked them away and reduced the impact from the bull.
"Kh!" Ellia got knocked away again, but Auric intentionally caught her this time. They ended up bouncing on the ground twice before stopping.
The bull continued, intending to crush them completely. Against a rank 4 bull like that, they couldn’t even stop it.
Nevertheless, their plan succeeded. They had bought enough time until the agents arrived.
Of course, the bull also noticed their arrival. Still, because Auric and Ellia were in front, the bull focused on them first.
Unfortunately for the bull, when it was about to reach them, Auric shouted, "Now!"
Ellia hurriedly turned around and hugged Auric before releasing her energy.
To the agents, Ellia was using her element, not Auric.
Auric activated his Void Step, teleporting them behind a tree.
In an instant, they disappeared from the bull’s vision, causing it to stop.
Roar!
The bull let out a roar, showing its frustration. However, it soon turned around and locked onto other people.
Roar!
