Chapter 73: Chapter 73: The Ancient Beast Transformation
Rosalind didn’t pull back. Fueled by raw, fierce protectiveness, she let out a blood-curdling feline battle-cry that shook the very foundation of the sky.
A white aura erupted from her skin in a wild, chaotic tempest.
Abandoning defensive finesse entirely, she fought back with terrifying ferocity.
She caught the left assassin’s wrist with her bare, blood-slicked hand, snapping the bone with an audible CRACK, before whipping her tail around like a steel whip to shatter the second assassin’s chest plate.
The force of her violent counter-attack sent all three assassins reeling backward, but Rosalind was breathing heavily, her blood dripping down onto Azriel’s coat as she kept her body firmly shielded around his.
[LIVE CHAT]
[Sadistic69] (Red): SHIT! THEY ARE USING HIM AS A TARGET BOARD TO DRAIN HER AETHER!
[Nine_Tailed_Vixen] (Cyan): Look at her shoulder! She took a direct GrandMaster slash just so Azriel wouldn’t get touched!
[Lusty_Sera] (Golden): He can’t even track them! The speed difference is too insane right now! This is brutal to watch!
[Boundless_Slacker] (Red): She refuses to let him go even while bleeding out...
[Moon_Priestess_99] (Cyan): PROTECT HIM, ROSALIND! ANNIHILATE THOSE BLACK-CLAD RATS!
[Crimson_Fury] (Cyan): " told you. A weak male is nothing but a liability. She’s going to get severely injured playing bodyguard.
The GrandMaster assassin exploited every opening, exchanging heavy, spatial-tearing blows with Rosalind while her two High-Master subordinates constantly lunged at Azriel’s blind spots.
Every time Rosalind surged forward to land a decisive, critical strike, the subordinates threw themselves into harm’s way with suicidal precision, forcing her to abandon her offensive trajectory to shield Azriel from stray aether shockwaves.
"Give him up, Duchess!" the GrandMaster assassin yelled, her voice echoing through the turbulent night air.
"You are wasting your life and burning your core for a pet! Hand him over, and we will leave you unharmed!"
Rosalind didn’t waste a single breath answering.
Her jaw was set, her golden eyes burning with an unholy, absolute refusal.
She simply fought harder, her defensive barrier flaring brighter as her own blood dripped onto Azriel’s black coat.
Realizing that defensive combat while holding a passenger would eventually wear her down, Rosalind’s expression turned utterly cold.
A decision was made.
She reached deep into the sealed depths of her ancestral soul, igniting the ancient bloodline technique of her clan.
BOOOOOOM!
A divine column of blinding white and crimson light erupted from her body, piercing through the night sky and scattering the storm clouds for miles.
The heavy pressure slammed into the atmosphere, causing the three assassins to freeze in mid-air, their armored bodies trembling under the sheer weight of her awakening.
Before Azriel’s eyes, Rosalind’s form transformed.
Elegant white fur surged across her pale skin.
Her golden eyes ignited into a blinding, divine white glow.
Her manicured nails elongated into razor-sharp white claws, and her aura shifted from refined nobility to that of an ancient, predatory apex beast.
The assassins shuddered, real terror finally cracking through their stoic masks.
"The... Ancient Beast Transformation—?!"
Before they could even turn to flee, Rosalind flicked her clawed hand.
A soft, White spatial bubble enveloped Azriel, instantly teleporting him down to the safety of the grassy clearing below.
Azriel landed cleanly on his feet. Looking up into the sky, he saw the terrifying, majestic sight of the transformed feline Duchess standing alone above the canopy.
"Run!" the GrandMaster assassin screamed.
The three assassins scattered in different directions, dissolving into dark shadow-steps to escape.
Rosalind didn’t move her feet.
She simply swiped her clawed hand through the empty air.
SLASH!
A fifty-meter arc of compressed white aether with black lines at end tore through the sky at instantaneous speed.
The two fleeing Master stage assassins didn’t even have time to scream, the spatial arc cleaved straight through their bodies, detonating their cores and disintegrating them into fine red mist in a single fraction of a second.
Without missing a beat, Rosalind vanished from her spot.
A millisecond later, she materialized directly in front of the fleeing GrandMaster assassin, miles down the highway.
The assassin gasped, trying to draw her void-blade, but Rosalind’s furred hand shot out like a lightning bolt, clamping tightly around the assassin’s armored throat and lifting her effortlessly into the air.
Rosalind leaned in, her glowing white eyes staring straight through the assassin’s dark visor, her voice sounding like a chorus of ancient, primordial beasts.
"You people have forgotten why I was named the Crimson Duchess of the East," Rosalind whispered, her grip tightening until the armor around the throat cracked.
"You thought that because I stepped away from the frontlines to focus on administration, I had forgotten how to slaughter. You forgot that wherever I walked, a river of crimson blood followed."
"You dare try to take what is mine!?"
She squeezed harder, her claws digging through the metal.
"Who sent you? Why target Azriel?"
The assassin let out a raspy, blood-choked laugh from beneath her helmet
"You... you already know the answer, Duchess... A male with such terrifying, ungodly potential... cannot be allowed to grow... Women will always rule this world...All Hail the—"
CRACK!
Rosalind casually crushed the assassin’s throat and exploded her entire head into a shower of black mana and crimson mist before she could finish her sentence.
"Jealous bitches," Rosalind spat coldly, tossing the lifeless corpse aside.
[LIVE CHAT]
[Sadistic69] (Red): HOLY SHIT! SHE ONE-SHOT THE MASTERS AND POPPED THE GRANDMASTER’S HEAD LIKE A WATERMELON!
[Nine_Tailed_Vixen] (Cyan): THAT IS THE CRIMSON DUCHESS OF THE EAST!
[Moon_Priestess_99] (Cyan): QUEEN! ABSOLUTE GODDESS! NO ONE TOUCHES OUR KING!
[Crimson_Fury] (Cyan): Wow.... I like her... I like blood...
With a flash of light, Rosalind materialized on the grass right in front of Azriel.
Seeing that he was completely unharmed, the terrifying beast aura vanished instantly.
The white fur receded, her glowing white eyes faded back to their warm, golden hue, and her claws shrank back into soft, manicured fingers.
She looked at him with her usual innocent, gentle smile.
"See? I told you... I would protect you..." she murmured softly.
Her body shuddered.
The heavy toll of using her ancestral bloodline technique alongside her deep poison-slash wounds hit her all at once.
Her knees buckled, and she collapsed forward.
Azriel reacted instantly, catching her in his arms before she hit the ground.
He pulled her fragile, blood-stained body tightly against his chest.
Looking down at her pale face, her torn dress, and the bleeding cuts she had taken entirely to keep him safe, a burning, terrifying heat surged in Azriel’s chest.
His violet eyes turned a dangerous, blood-red hue.
Tears of pure, unadulterated rage and grief welled on the verge of falling, but he forced his jaw shut, holding back the tears as he wrapped his arms around her like a vise, burying his face into her silver-white hair.
"Rose..." he choked out, his voice trembling with a dark, awakening fury he had never felt before.
Just as he held her tightly under the desolate starlight, a sudden, sharp gust of icy wind blew violently against his back.
