Chapter 312: Indecisive Daisy

’’I owed you that bit,’’ Si Yena looked at the man indifferently, ’’And I paid it back.’’

As Lu Xian gazed at her, she continued, ’’Because don’t lie to yourself. You hated that woman, your fake mother with everything you had. You wanted revenge. You wanted to kill her with your own hands and I have no doubts that a stubborn person like you would do that. But after that, you would blame yourself for your entire life.’’

She sighed and turned to leave, ’’I saved you from that hassle and now, we are even.’’

’’We are far from even,’’ Lu Xian grabbed her hand and pulled her back, her back crashing against his chest, ’’Let us talk.’’

’’We have nothing else left to talk about."

’’Why must you throw your life away like this?" he snapped, ’’These people are no ordinary people. Be it Nathan Kingsley or Ryle Harper, they will tear you to shreds in the blink of an eye.’’

As his grip loosened, Si Yena turned around to look at him. The soft look in her eyes was rare and fleeting, ’’I know.’’

’’If you know, then listen to me,’’ he whispered, ’’Come with me. I will take you away from all these things.’’

He pulled her close.

’’It’s too late.’’

...

By the time Daisy came back, she found a subtle shift in the atmosphere of the party. She could not tell if it had to do with her emotions that were all over the place.

When Daisy looked around, she could not see Nathan anywhere. The man was absent from his own party.

Daisy then spotted Si Yena sitting in a corner with guests hovering around her every once in a while. But the woman sat there quietly, twirling a glass of wine in her hand.

Daisy’s hand was grabbed and in a swift movement, she was pulled away from the spot where she stood.

She moved on reflex but the familiar touch stoned her in place.

’’It’s me. Do you want to hit me now?" Ryle whispered pitifully once he pulled her in one of the guest rooms and locked the door behind her.

Daisy looked at him quietly for a moment.

"I saw you earlier and you seemed like you’d kill me and the other person if I talk to one more girl. Are you still angry, sweetheart?" Ryle cupped her face, ’’Say something.’’

Daisy opened her mouth to speak about everything that she saw in that room but the words were lodged back into her throat when she saw the smile on his face.

Humans were such creatures. Indecisive in everything they do.

Daisy did not think she was capable of dawdling about. If there were things that needed to be said, then she would say them right away without the fear of consequences.

But right now, she could not find that resolve within her. It troubled her a bit to think how Ryle would be impacted by it.

Whether that smile on his face would fade a little.

Ryle was still waiting for a response from her when he felt a little weight in his chest as she threw herself at him.

"What happened, sweetheart?" His voice deepened, in spite of himself, ’’Did someone bully you?"

The concern in her voice made her heart ache, ’’Who do you think can bully me here?"

’’I don’t care who it was. If someone upsets you, then they have to face the consequences. You know that, right?"

The place fell silent and Ryle composed that rage inside him. If not for him, Daisy would not be in a place like this anyway. She would probably be doing her work, spending time with Angel, and living the life she had earned herself after countless obstacles.

She had not been mentioning Angel lately and the more she persisted it, the further he showed how much she was missing her.

’’Then shouldn’t you be blamed?" Her light voice snapped him out of his daze.

’’Me?"

’’Won’t you go out and meet some more ladies who have the potential to be your future wives?"

Ryle’s taut expressions loosened and the twinkle returned to his eyes when he heard her words. He held her in his arms, his lips tugging up in a soft smirk, ’’Are you jealous?"

Daisy did not say a word and Ryle stepped back a little. He pinched her chin and lifted her head so that she was meeting his gaze, ’’There is no one but you.’’

She looked at him wordlessly.

For an instant, Ryle knew that Daisy needed no such explanations. She knew what he felt for her, she trusted him and she would continue to do so until and unless she let her down.

But no matter how much she knew or understood him, he would never cease explaining himself.

If his words made her feel better even in the slightest, then he was willing to speak for eternity.

’’So, don’t be jealous.’’

’’You are overestimating yourself,’’ Daisy pushed him away playfully.

’’Or you are underestimating my impact in your life,’’ Ryle leaned in and pressed a kiss on her earlobe, ’’You need me like anything.’’

As his kisses got arbitrary and hot, Daisy pushed him back a little, ’’There are people everywhere. What are you doing?"

’’Just messing around with my future wife.’’

Those words stumped her speechless.

A deep chuckle reverberated in the room. Ryle pursed his lips when she shot him a glare, ’’That was... adorable.’’

Daisy averted her gaze, not bothering to indulge his teasing looks.

’’It’s quiet at the party,’’ she remarked instead. She had been wary of this entire event but everything seemed to be normal now.

Daisy knew that she was not imagining things. Si Yena would not set up such a grand fiasco just to get Ryle a woman. But if she had another purpose, then when did she intend to act on her plans?

"Well...’’

Ryle’s hesitation had Daisy’s attention instantly, ’’Did you do something?"

He shook his head when he heard her words but then nodded once after contemplating over them, ’’Just saw a mouse lurking around and sent another mouse to him so I could trap them together.’’
