Chapter 311: A childhood memory
Si Yena looked in the direction Nathan had left in. The man was on a call but from where he stood, it would only take him a mere tilt of his head to witness what was transpiring on the dance floor.
She then looked in Ryle’s direction, only to see the man raising a wine glass towards her, a cold smirk touching his lips.
’’Come with me...’’ she inhaled a deep breath when the man did not budge from his spot in the slightest, ’’I beg you, Lu Xian. Come with me or we will both die.’’
When they walked away from the dance floor, Si Yena spotted Maria in the crowd, serving drinks to the guests. Their gazes briefly met and Si Yena nodded at her.
As soon as Si Yena led Lu Xian into a room, the man tugged off his mask and pressed her against the wall.
"You...’’ the word had just escaped her mouth when he captured her lips in a rough kiss, his other hand pulling away her mask despite her struggles.
She attempted to push him away but he kissed her relentlessly. The gradating force of his kiss gradually decreased as he kissed her gently.
She wrapped her arms around his neck but just as she started to kiss him back, the man pulled away.
Si Yena glanced at his stormy expressions, ’’Leave this place.’’
’’Is that all that you have to say to me?" Lu Xian wiped the corner of his lips, ’’After all this time?"
Si Yena pursed her lips and remained silent.
’’Do you want to ask how I knew of your identity before taking off your mask?" Lu Xian smiled coldly when she lowered her head, ’’We have shared the bed long enough for me to know who you are, despite the veil you used to put on. You had me too hooked around your finger to notice anything amiss but once I put the events together, you targeting Ryle, the incident in the Lu family event, the Si Family’s provocation and their untimely deaths, your stature, and appearance even, everything seemed to lead me to you, the little miss of the Si Family who had gone missing quite some time ago.’’
Si Yena’s brows knit together.
’’I had to go to quite some extents to find you here, so don’t fucking stay silent.’’
’’What do you want?" she inhaled a deep breath.
’’Are you pretending to be oblivious now?" Lu Xian stepped towards her, "Don’t you think you owe me an explanation?"
Si Yena averted her gaze, ’’I don’t owe you anything.’’
The events of some time ago still seemed just as alive in both their memories.
They coped with their grief by getting together with each other. It was supposed to be a fun time if not for the emotional complications that it got attached with.
Lu Xian could not exactly remember when was the time he had started looking forward to seeing this woman.
He could still remember that morning when he left her in bed after whispering a ’I will come back soon’ in her ear.
That day, he had received a call from his men who had finally hunted down the woman who had killed his entire family and ran away.
Lu Xian did not have much to discuss with the woman who had pretended to be his good mother for years. His deal was simple. Kill her, exact revenge for his dead family and leave in peace.
His men had covered the woman’s mouth so she could not say a thing and Lu Xian had stood there unmoved with a gun in his hand. But before he could pull the trigger, someone else beat him to it and shot the woman.
It was Si Yena.
She killed Mrs. Lu without hesitation and looked at him with an unfazed look as if that was the most natural thing to do.
There was a rage in his chest that Lu Xian still remembered to this day. But within it, he felt a sense of relief.
As soon as they had reached the hotel room, he pinned her to the wall and asked her ’Why?’
It was his revenge, she knew it then why must she do what she did? He could not understand at all.
’Your fingers were shaking.’
That’s all she said.
That night, something inside him had known that he did not let this woman go. And so he did. He did not let her go for the whole night. But the next morning, when he woke up, she was gone.
’’When I was young, you helped me once...’’
Si Yena’s words snapped Lu Xian out of his daze.
’’I don’t remember how old I was back then, something about twelve or thirteen? We were at a party thrown by your family and my brother’s friends found me in a secluded corner.’’
As Si Yena spoke, she looked away from his face.
’’They bullied me and made fun of me, pinching me here and pushing me there. It was a common occurrence to me. They were unruly young masters and I was not my parents’ greatest concern. As long as their heir, their precious son was alright, they didn’t care much about anything else at all.’’
Si Yena tilted her head to the side, ’’I was accustomed to it but that night, you saved me...’’
Something different had transpired that particular night.
Just when she thought that she would get into trouble as usual, he appeared.
Perhaps the moon was bright that night or perhaps the slightly older boy who had appeared was indeed too handsome in her eyes.
’Get lost,’ he had told those boys and shielded her, protecting her from them till they had no choice but to run away.
For years after, Si Yena would find every bit and piece of news of Lu Xian and store it away in her diary.
However, time flew too fast and as she grew up, the innocence of her heart had long been crushed. This small memory took a backseat in her mind.
