Chapter 307: Corner her till she is forced to show up
’’Oh,’’ Ryle remembered the servant who was tossed about by his father a few nights ago. Later, Daisy had told him that she shared the room with her, ’’What about her?"
’’In the past few days, I have seen her with Si Yena a couple of times when she thought nobody was watching her. Some time ago, she had rummaged through my stuff,’’ It was the night when she had ended up staying in Ryle’s room for a long time before he let her go. When she went back to the room, Maria hadn’t been there.
And when she came back, the woman told Daisy that she had been looking for her. But while doing so, she had not known that Daisy had already scanned through the entire room. While everything seemed to be just as it was, Daisy had noticed the subtle smell of flowers in those things.
Since Maria made that mistake in front of Nathan, she had been assigned to do petty jobs most of the time. And that day she happened to help out the gardener. The garden in Kingsley mansion was lavish with flowers of all kinds in there hence it was hard to catch the scent after staying there for hours.
’’But she would not have expected that she would find nothing,’’ Ryle said thoughtfully. After all, Daisy had just replaced the woman who was supposed to be there.
Daisy nodded. Even the corset she wore or the makeup she used resembled beautifying objects when lying idle. No one would guess that they could make such major changes to her appearance. When she had learnt the art of disguise, it had been rather over the top at first. She was just a heiress who wanted part time jobs without exposing her identity but as time passed by, she improved her disguising skills till she did not need a lot of things to alter her appearance.
’’Are you suspicious that she is working for Si Yena?"
’’I am certain that she is involved with Si Yena,’’ Daisy answered Ryle’s question with confidence, ’’But I am uncertain of what Si Yena wants with her.’’ In what ways was Maria useful to Si Yena that she would take such efforts in hiring her when Maria had been rejected countless times for the same job before?
’’There can be two things,’’ Ryle said after some thought, ’’One, Si Yena wanted a loyal dog. The people who are bruised and battered, and shunned by the world for a long time, if you give them a hand and pick them up, they would treat you as god.’’
Daisy frowned. It was not impossible that that is what had happened. Maria seemed insecure about her burn scars, and her life must have been difficult if she had not been able to get a job in years. If Si Yena did appear at a time like that, and saved her from her misery by appointing her for this job, then Maria would indeed act like she was her lifesaver.
But there was something amiss. Something that did not add up. When Daisy had pretended to judge Si Yena in front of Maria, Maria had been far too composed in laughing it off. It was almost like it did not bother her in the slightest at all. Either she was too good at pretending or she just really did not care.
’’Second, they have an equal standing. They both want something from each other which is why they are cooperating.’’

There was blood. Blood everywhere.
She wanted to leave.
And so she did. She ran away. Faster and faster till there was no sight of blood.
Just as the relief washed over her, she saw a shadow. The huge shadow enveloped her till she became invisible.
’You like it?’ the words reverberated by her ears like an echoing curse.
’Ring’
The constant ringing of a phone pierced through the Master bedroom. Si Yena’s eyes snapped open. Drenched in sweat as she panted, she looked at the ceiling with tears in her eyes.
It took her a moment to register her surroundings before her eyes narrowed. She checked the time. 4 pm.
She picked up her phone and leaned back on the bed, glancing at the caller ID that displayed Chen Lina’s number. After a moment, she answered the call.
’’How is it going?" Si Yena played with a few loose strands of her hair.
’’It’s difficult,’’ Chen Lina’s frustrated voice came from the other side, ’’I have sent many of my competent men for the job but that place is heavily guarded. My people cannot break through their defenses at all.’’
’’Useless,’’ Si Yena clicked her tongue, ’’I gave you time. Plenty of time.’’
’’I know. These past few days, you have kept Ryle and Daisy occupied but things are difficult on my side too. That bitch is a sly one, she has kept everything under her control even when she is not around.’’
’’It’s not your place to call her a bitch,’’ Si Yena said calmly as she stroked her nails.
’’Did you confirm if Daisy is there?"
Si Yena fell silent, ’’She is here, I know but I have never been good at looking past her disguises. And where is the fun in that? Instead...’’ She paused, a twisted smile forming on her lips as she said, ’’Isn’t it better to corner her till she cannot help but show up desperately in front of me?"
The line fell silent for a while before Chen Lina said, ’’I will try to handle things on my side. Also...’’
’’Hmm?" Si Yena arched her brow.
’’How do we deal with Lu Xian?"
The playful smile on Si Yena’s face faltered a bit at the mention of that person.
’’You had joined hands with him even when I was against it initially. He is not an easy person to control but still I thought the cooperation would work out when he seemed to have a thing going on for that little bitc... Daisy. But now, he has completely pulled back from that deal, it seems. It will be hard... but if you lend me hand, it won’t be as hard to take care of him...’’
