Chapter 289: He had an answer
’’I will pass out,’’ she mumbled, her voice awfully hoarse.
’’Mm,’’ there was a hint of smugness in his voice. Perhaps it was the lack of control in her tone earlier, or the hint of begging that asked him to stop, that had satisfied the man.
Si Yena could not figure out if he was simply twisted in the head or twisted beyond repair. But then again, she was not the one to talk about other people’s insanity.
’’Tell me something...’’
Lu Xian did not reply immediately and when she assumed that he was not going to say anything, she was about to push his buttons further. But right then, the man spoke up, ’’Ask me anything. But if I answer your question, I will ask you one right after.’’
"Do you think you are in a position to negotiate with me?"
He grunted, ’’Considering that you were pinned under me, still moaning and screaming for me just a few seconds ago, yes, I am very much in a position to negotiate.’’
Silence dawned in the room.
Lu Xian frowned in the dark, his fingers that were playing with her hair gripped them as he yanked her head back and leaned in, biting her neck hard, ’’You do not ignore me. Nor do you leave me hanging.’’
Si Yena hissed at the pain that struck through her body as his teeth dug into her skin but soon the pain was soothed as his tongue soothed and licked the spot that he had bit.
Like a wounded wolf pup, he bared his fangs, caused some damage, but still could not manage to go all the way in his hunt.
Absent-mindedly, Si Yena raised her hand to stroke his hair as he slept on her, face buried in the crook of her neck. But still she was not crushed as he had shifted his body weight to his lower body that remained on the bed.
"Do you remember the reason you cooperated with me in the first place?" Si Yena asked, her eyes staring upwards blankly in the darkness.
He remained silent.
They both knew the answer to this question and they both knew that this was not the question she wanted to ask.
’’You wanted Daisy. You said you loved her. Tell me, what kind of love do you have for her if you spend all your mornings and nights in the arms of some other woman?" she sighed, ’’Not to hurt your dreams, but do you think she will ever accept you if she knew that you were fucking me while claiming to have feelings for her?"
The question seemed to have landed nowhere as the room remained silent. Except for Lu Xian’s even breathing, Si Yena could only hear the sounds of birds returning to their nests in the distance.
She remained still for a long time, letting the warmth of his breath seep into her neck and the warmth of his body envelop hers before she moved, slipping out from under him.
She adjusted his body on the bed, and pushed a pillow under his neck. By the time she was done, she was panting, ’’Heavy,’’ she said with a frown in the dark before she turned the bedside lamp on.
Without turning around to look at him, she squatted down and picked up her veil from the floor, tied it around the lower half of her mouth and walked in the direction of the bathroom. Her steps were rather unstable.
All the while as she did not look back, she felt to see the pair of eyes that had been fixated on her back that was filled with all kinds of garish marks from their activity.
Lu Xian watched her back quietly till she shut the bathroom door. Her question echoed in his mind as if she was still there, whispering it in his ear.
’You wanted Daisy. You said you loved her. Tell me, what kind of love do you have for her if you spend all your mornings and nights in the arms of some other woman? Not to hurt your dreams, but do you think she will ever accept you if she knew that you were fucking me while claiming to have feelings for her?’
He had stayed silent, pretending to have fallen asleep when she voiced her question, not because he did not have an answer to it. But rather, he very much knew it all by now but he refused to accept it.
Those who crave chaos were all people who had once convinced themselves that they liked the calm. Those who liked to stroke the deadly nightshade did not go to pluck a snow lotus.
The feelings that she spoke of... were not the ones he had, but rather more of the ones he had convinced himself he had.
He was about to close his eyes when his phone that was lying on the bedside table vibrated twice before going silent.
Lu Xian glanced at the closed door of the bathroom before he picked up the phone. In the next moment, his eyes narrowed, scanning the text in front of him, going through it word by word till the sight of it was imprinted in his mind.
[Unknown: Boss, we have found her. She was running away.]
Lu Xian did not know for how long he stared at the text or what thoughts crossed his mind but eventually, he typed his response.
[Keep her locked.]
Lu Xian placed the phone back on the bedside table again and sat up to lean back on the headboard of the bed. The sound of water running was rather distant from where the bed was positioned.
He shifted his gaze to the canvas that had been blank earlier, but now was filled with sensuous strokes of someone’s body, filled with red, curves, handprints of a big one over a small one.
’’What have I gotten myself into?" Grunting, he dropped on the bed and closed his eyes, only for him to open them a second later to glance at the closed bathroom door.

My midterms are finally over but end term exam is yet to come *dies a little* my Master’s dissertation has also started and I am working on it currently. I don’t know why I am writing this here.
