Chapter 193: Here for investigation
Logan shrugged a shoulder, ’’Alright, President Chen,’’ the man did not seem to be moved in the slightest but Daisy could say that the man was still being kind to her since he considered her family.
As she looked at his retreating back, as cold and aloof it was, she felt like that the man was rather lonely. And even pitiful. To not have a family for decades and then suddenly being burdened by the responsibilities of the heir, it was not an easy feat.
Daisy sighed, feeling like she was looking too much into it.
However, some of Daisy’s thoughts were not different from Logan’s. He did not believe that he would need her help in anything in the future.
Little did he know that he would eat his own words and come ask for her help in no time.
She was lost in her thoughts when her phone started ringing. Seeing that it was a call from Secretary Han, Daisy answered the call immediately. She had sent the man away from the party right away because she had wanted him to look into something. And she believed he was calling her back with the results to that.
The results that Secretary Han came up with was no different than what she had predicted. The man told her that the number from which the pictures of Ryle and that unknown woman were sent to her could not be tracked.
Daisy had known that it would be this way from the very beginning. The person who sent her the pictures must have destroyed all evidences to prevent her from being able to get to her.
’’Alright,’’ Daisy hung up the call.
Although it was unsettling to have an opponent who was plotting in the dark, but Daisy did not think that this situation would last forever. Sooner or later, they would expose flaws.
Coming to think of that, Daisy was calmer than before.
She had just stepped forward towards the entrance of the venue when a group of people blocked her path. At one glance, she saw that those were the guards of the Lu Family.
Soon after, a group of people approached in their direction.
And amongst the group, the leading members were Mr. Lu, Mrs. Lu as well as Si Yena’s parents. And following them were a group of socialites alongwith a small bunch of reporters that had their cameras point at her.
’’My Si Family is already in ruins because of your actions. You killed my precious daughter. At this point, I don’t care if the Qin Family comes out to support you or not,’’ Mr. Si’s voice thundered, ’’As long as it is within my capabilities, I would spare no effort in getting you punished for your crimes.’’
’’And may I know what crimes you are talking of?" Daisy looked at bunch of people coldly.
"Don’t you know it well? My daughter was killed by you. She sincerely treated you like a good friend. But you killed her!" Mrs. Si was not as level headed like her husband so the moment she spoke, she burst into tears, ’’What did she deserve to get this kind of unfair treatment? Even though there was a line between our family and your Chen Family might have been superior to mine but when did I wrong you? I still remember when you were a little girl... Yena would bring you to the mansion every once in a while and I would ask the cook to make your favorite food. Was it necessary, Daisy? Did you have the heart to treat us this way?" the woman broke down as she spoke.
If Daisy had thought that the Si Family had all collaborated together to scheme against her, then she suddenly had no idea what to think anymore. Even if she believed that Mr. Si deliberately accusing her, she could still see that Mrs. Si seemed to genuinely believe that she had killed Si Yena. She looked betrayed and lost, still suffering from the grief of losing her daughter.
Daisy looked at the woman quietly for a moment before she spoke up, ’’I know you don’t trust me. And I won’t convince or ask you to do so. But it is a fact that I haven’t killed Si Yena,’’ she knew that this was probably the only time she would talk about this matter so she did not hold back, ’’We had our own disagreements and I will never forgive her for what she did to me and my daughter. But I did not kill her and it is a fact.’’
Her straightforward words and sincere tone stunned Mrs. Si.
What Daisy did not speak out loud was that in that moment when she realized that Si Yena had made a deal out of her daughter and sent her to an orphanage, a part of her wanted revenge. She wanted to kill the woman right there and then.
But in the end, she walked away. She could not bring herself to kill the person whom she had befriended for most of her life. And more so when the woman’s lover had passed away in front of her eyes, leaving her in a pathetic situation. For such people, life was always a bigger punishment than death.

Since Daisy had her attention on Mrs. Si, she did not notice Mrs. Lu stepping out of the crowd until the woman splashed the glass of wine on her face.
’’Don’t try to deceive everyone into believing your manipulative words,’’ Mrs. Lu stepped forward, ’’You killed someone and you still have the audacity to show your face in public, acting all high and mighty. Just you wait. I have already called the authorities. After they take you in, you don’t have to worry about explaining yourself to anyone. They will get to the bottom of this matter and shed light on the truth.’’
Daisy raised her hand and wiped the wine off her face calmly.
When her gaze met with Mrs. Lu’s, the latter trembled seeing the coldness in them. But knowing that Daisy could not do anything to her at this point, she quickly straightened her back. On the other hand, she was relieved that she was about to exact revenge for the humiliation she had suffered in the hands of the woman in front of her years ago when she ran away from her wedding.
Even Mr. Lu who knew when to advance and when to retreat knew that this time, they had no reasons to hold back. Daisy was already down and out by what happened in the party hall. For one, he knew that the woman must have some of guards stationed around the venue even if he could spot them. But even if they showed themselves up, it would only be a loss to Daisy.
And at this point, if she refused to cooperate with the authorities, then she would put a stain in the reputation of the Chen family. Nobody would believe that there would be smoke without fire. Since there were such vicious rumors that a murdered happened by her hands, then she must have something to do with it. That’s how people’s mentality was and would always remain to be.
And Daisy knew these consequences too. She had not expected these people to have joined hands to this extent because of various circumstances. She had no idea whether it was hilarious, ridiculous or downright silly that Mr. Lu and Mrs. Lu had joined hands to plot against one of the major shareholders of their company, which was her right now.
She made a sign with a fingers and commanded the guards to stay put. Compared to Mr. Lu’s assumption, Daisy did not have a few guards stationed around the venue. They were a large number of people that included elite guards of the Chen family and the elite guards that Ryle had left by her side. She herself was enough to deal with half of these people.
If she wanted to escape, it was not a hard thing to do at all. But if she did escape, then it would only put the Chen family in public eyes, leaving it open for speculation.
Just as Daisy stopped contemplating over the situation, a group of people surrounded her.
’’Miss Chen, we are from Beijing Police Division. You have to come with us for investigation.’’
