Chapter 190: She was dead?
’’You fainted in front of my car. It has been a long time but I still remember the day very clearly for some reason,’’ Lu Xian leaned back on the chair and thought back to that incident.
His driver had stepped on the emergency brakes and his entire coffee had spilled all over his body. He had a meeting to attend and his mood had worsened almost immediately.
’President, someone stopped in front of the car,’ his driver had informed him and honked on the horn a couple of times.
Lu Xian was already in a terrible mood but even after a couple of minutes, the person did not seem to have the intention to budge.
’The audacity!’ he alighted the car to see the person who had the nerve to block his path. He had a feeling that it was done by someone on purpose.
’’When I approached you, you just fainted. You seemed to be in a bad condition,’’ Lu Xian was not a kind person who would play an angelic passerby and save everybody that died in front of him but that day was different.
He had intended to leave her there but before he could leave, he saw her falling backwards and the wig on her head fell faster than her. And almost instinctively, he caught her in his arms.
And upon a closer look, he discovered her identity. It took him a moment to recognize her but he did so eventually as he had come across her in events in the past when she was still in Chen Family.
She was the same person that his family detested to the core later on. After she ran away from her supposed wedding, the Lu family was thoroughly humiliated in the elite society and although people did not dare to do it on their faces, but the Lus were still mocked by everyone behind their backs.
Unable to bear the humiliation, his third brother went abroad and his parents hated the Chen Family and Daisy Chen even more. But they knew that if they faced them head on, then it would be impossible for both the sides to leave unharmed as long as Helian Chen remained the pillar.
Something about the way she laid in his arms, fragile and pale, stirred something inside him. Back when he had encountered Daisy in some events but those times, he had only watched her from afar. She always had an unapproachable aura around her and her face would be cold, making him wonder why she was the way.
Hence, when he saw her in such a vulnerable position, he did not have the heart to abandon the woman on the streets.
’’I was worried that your condition was serious so I stayed there for some time. Then, the doctor informed me that you were not in danger. You were pregnant. So, I asked my men to contact someone from your side who could be there.’’
And then, he left the hospital to attend the meeting. By the time, he came back, Daisy was gone.
Daisy’s expressions shifted subtly when she heard his narrating those events. Coming to think of it, she had always thought who had taken her to the hospital on the right time but because she got occupied with other things, she never had the chance to look into properly.
’’Thank you,’’ she looked up at Lu Xian sincerely. She was truly grateful to him.
She did not even know that she was pregnant and she did not dare to imagine what would have happened if things went wrong, if she did not receive medical attention on time.
’’We are friends. You don’t have to thank me for such trivial matters. I am just relieved that I was not entirely unreliable at a time like that,’’ If he had neglected her at that time then he would have regretted it endlessly to this day.
Away from them, near the other end of the hallway, someone had zoomed up to the view of the two people talking peacefully and clicked a picture of them before he looked at it and quickly sent it to Ryle.
’’What are you doing?" Another guard who was stationed by Daisy’s side to protect her came out of the shadows and questioned the man.
’’Doing my job. What else?" the person who had clicked the picture shrugged.
’’Your job is to protect Miss Chen.’’
’’It is my primary job but do you think that’s all why our Boss had asked us to be by Miss Chen’s side?" the man rolled his eyes, ’’Do you think the Chens lacks guards to protect their missy?"
The guard was dumbstruck. Could there be another reason behind why they were commanded to stay by Miss Chen’s side.
’’Boss obviously wants to hit two birds with one stone. Our job is to not only protect Miss Chen but also alert boss at the mere sight of bees and flies?"
’’Bees and flies?"
The guard’s lips twitched as he pointed his chin in Lu Xian’s direction, ’’Don’t you think Miss Chen will be stolen away? By that time, we will have nothing to cry over when our boss blames us for the stolen fish.’’ If not for the protocols where they could not act on their own and show themselves without Daisy’s command, the man would have rushed over with some excuse and separated the two for the sake of his Boss. Was it easy for them to come across their Lady Boss?

The remaining guards hidden in the dark were all convinced by their brother’s reasoning. The man had a high EQ. No wonder their Boss had commanded him to lead them all. They had to learn from him in the future.
Lu Xian left to attend a work phone call and Daisy did not intend to linger in the event for longer.
She got up and walked back to the party hall. She was scrolling on her phone and checking the next day’s schedule that Secretary Han had sent to her.
Suddenly she heard a gasp when someone bumped into her. Daisy immediately retreated and looked up in the direction of the sound, ’’I am so sorry...’’ Daisy stopped when she saw the person who was standing in front of her
’’I am sorry. I didn’t see where I was going...’’ the woman who was apologizing to Daisy trailed off.
The person was none other than Mrs. Si, Si Yena’s mother. She was accompanied by Mr. Si. When both of them saw Daisy, their faces turned ugly.
’’It’s you...’’ her voice was raised by a notch and the scene attracted everyone’s attention.
They slowly gathered in groups and looked in that direction, waiting for a good show.
After all, just like the Lu Family, it was rumoured that the Chens had some feud with the Si Family as well. But while the feud between Lus and Chens was crystal clear and known to everyone, not a lot of people know about what transpired between the Chen Family and Si Family. Weren’t the young misses of both the families best friends?
When Daisy saw both the people and the animosity with which they looked at her, she did not give much of a reaction, disappointing the spectators. She walked past the couple but just as she had taken a step forward, Mrs. Su suddenly turned around and held Daisy’s hand in a death grip, almost digging her sharp nails in her skin.
’’Where do you think you are going?"
Daisy’s gaze turned cold, ’’Let go.’’
The bodyguards immediately got restless in their positions, seeing Daisy’s circumstances but when they met her gaze, they knew that she did not allow them to make a move. And rightfully so.
They were stationed in every nook and cranny of Lu Family for her safety and in case of any emergency and if they were not wrong, then Lu Xian must be aware of their presence even if he had not seen their whole force. If they were to show up now, then they would only expose themselves and might create unnecessary trouble for Daisy. So, they believed in Daisy’s decision and held themselves back. As long as she could manage it by herself.
’’You... You still have the nerve to act so high and mighty. Do you think I am am afraid of you?" the woman looked at her viciously as if she would kill her, ’’You killed my only daughter... And you have the audacity to show your face around in the public, you murderer!"
Her words made everyone descend in utter silence and her words caused an uproar.
Si Yena was dead?
