Chapter 179: Who the hell are you?
’’I am not praising her. I just think that she is a strong opponent. And don’t forget that she seems to have a connection with Lu Xian despite the initial bitterness between the two families. Their relationship is not shallow either, given how easily the man agreed to transfer 10% of his shares to her. After the recent drop in stocks of Chen Corporations, the market value of 10% of Lu Corporation’s would be almost double the Chens yet Lu Xian was willing,’’ Director Yu analyzed calmly, ’’And secondly, don’t forget about the investment of $150 billions. Do you think any random passerby would do that?"
’’What do you mean?"
’’Her resources are way beyond our access.’’
’’What. do . you. Mean?" Chen Lina stepped towards the man with a threatening glance.
Director Yu looked at her reluctantly but in the end, he spoke up, ’’Lina, at this point, we can only admit defeat. Even if we want to take Daisy down, she is way beyond our reach. She gives me the feeling that she is not an ordinary person. Since the first day I saw her holding a child and walking inside the meeting room, I had a feeling that she is not to be trifled with. You told me she is an immature little girl but the nonchalance with which she stepped inside the room, it was as if she had everything under her control. And she was supposed to sit in the chair.’’
Chen Lina remained quiet.
Director Yu felt like his words were getting to her, ’’Lina, I supported you in everything but some things are not meant to be ours. Let’s not be greedy over what is not ours. I will take you back to my hometown. You said you have been working for ages and you need rest, right? You can rest all that you want. We have wasted a huge part of our youth over these wild ambitions of ours but now that we are getting old, I realize nothing really matters to me as much as you do. Rebecca is also going after her happiness. Let us do that as well. We can get married, have kids, and pursue our passions. We can start over...’’
’Pak’
The sound of a crisp slap interrupted the man’s speech as a resounding slap landed on his face, swinging his face to the side with a strong force.
’’Marry? Have kids? Start over?’’ Chen Lina threw her head back and laughed till her eyes reddened, ’’Just how delusional can you be? You want me to give up when the game has just started? The ambitions that I thrived on for my whole life should be shattered into dust just because that little slut showed up?"
’’Lina...’’ Director Yu looked at her with tears in his eyes.
’’You matter to me, but not enough for me to give up on my dreams,’’ Chen Lina tilted her chin and met his gaze, ’’A man can never be the cause behind the change of my plans.’’
’’Lina, listen to me...’’
’’Go away. Your cowardice disdains me. I have had countless plots in the past when Helian Chen was sitting on the chair of the CEO. After that slut ran away from her marriage, their relations were tense. The younger daughter had also ran away. Helian Chen, no matter how much he pretended to be normal, must have been affected by these things. We could have caught him at his most vulnerable had you not constantly panicked.
Helian Chen also had familial considerations. Even if a plan of mine failed and I was exposed in anyway, he would not have gone to extremes considering I was his uncle’s daughter. But you were a coward throughout that time and see where it got us? You only picked your courage when Daisy came into the picture and by then, the situation had already slipped out of my grasp even before I could realize.’’
’’You are blaming me?" Director Yu frowned, ’’All these years, when have I gone against you? You have the audacity to blame me...’’
Chen Lina scoffed, ’’Had you been braver, we would not have come to this. You can only blame yourself for it.’’
’’Alright... Alright...’’ the man inhaled a deep breath and started retreating from where he was standing, ’’Best of luck to you, Vice President.’’
With that said, he turned around and left, never once turning back to look at her.
Chen Lina clenched her fists but in the end, she could not help but mumble, ’’With a burden like you gone, it would be easier for me to succeed in my goals. Yes...’’ she repeated again and again as she closed her eyes.
’’Ah, the dreadful feeling of loss. Rips through the heart every single time, doesn’t it?"
A sultry feminine voice rang in the air, making Chen Lina alert all of a sudden.
She twisted on her heels and found a shadow leaning against the wall in the far corner, ’’Who are you?" she could not see the person in the slightest and all she could figure from that voice was that the person who spoke was a woman.
But even when the woman moved to the side and crossed her arms in front of her chest, Chen Lina could not see anything.
She arched her neck to the side, to catch a glimpse but nothing fell into her view at all. It suddenly felt as if that person stood there with calculation so that she would not reveal herself.
’’Who am I? Does it matter to you who I am when you are the one streets,’’ the woman laughed softly, ’’...the niece you raised like a daughter abandoned you overnight...’’
’’Rebecca did not abandon me.’’
’’Oh yes but she just decided to go abroad with her fiancé, even without consulting you once. Deep down, we both know what these things imply, right? Her constant demotions must have told her how incapable her aunt is...’’
’’Who the hell are you and why do you know everything?"

A/N: I update almost everyday, dear. But I also need 1 or 2 days off sometimes. I am a student so I have my exams, schedules, and writing is not all that I do. When I come over to home from dorms for vacations, I tend to let my writing schedule loosen so I can breath. I really appreciate the amount of love and support you show my work which is why I try my best to persist and write more for you all.
But I hope you all can be more patient with me and let me write in my own pace so as to ensure the Chapter quality. As sometimes, it puts an invisible pressure on writers, especially in webnovel where you tend to write daily without a single day off. In the past, the constant urging and pressure made me lose motivation for one of the books that has been closest to my heart and I had to put it on hiatus.
I never want to repeat that which is why I am coming forward to tell you this. Since my first book, I have found that my readers are unusually understanding and definitely the best bunch out there. And I know that you all will understand where I am coming from~ Lots of love<3
