Chapter 154: Princess and little princess

He obviously did not trust a stranger with such information but he could not go against Daisy’s decisions and he did not know her working style at all.

He was more accustomed and aligned with President Helian’s way of working. During all his years of working for the man, Secretary Han had never once seen him letting an outsider or even an employee of the Chen Corporations be present when it was regarding the confidential matters of company.

Daisy patiently waited for the man to speak as she took a seat on the opposite couch but when the man did not say anything after a few minutes had passed, her brows tugged together slightly.

’Ring’

The loud ringing of a phone broke the silence in the room. Perhaps because Little Angel was sleeping, Ryle did not make a moment’s delay in taking out his phone and answering the call.

He did not say a word but Daisy perceived the way his relaxed expression faded gradually. His jaws clenched and he pushed himself to his feet.

The call was disconnected and this time his eyes bore straight into hers.

Daisy knew what that look in his eyes meant and as much as she wanted to pretend to not be affected by it, her fingers still curled into a fist. After some time, her fingers relaxed and she looked at him calmly, ’’You can leave if there is something,’’ she said in an unaffected tone before she turned to look at Secretary Han.

However, from the corner of her eyes, she could sense some movements.

Just as Daisy had guessed and believed, Ryle indeed had to leave for some work. But the man who was supposed to leave did not leave after hearing her words. Instead, he approached her with a few huge strides and grabbed the back of her head.

As Daisy looked at him with widened eyes, he leaned in and pressed his lips on her forehead, ’’Be good and wait for me, princess.’’

The scent of his cologne invaded her senses and Daisy fell in a daze.

Ryle kissed her forehead again before he turned to leave.

But the man’s footsteps slowed down near the bed. He approached the little girl who was sleeping peacefully, placed a knee on the bed and lowered himself to gently plant a kiss on the crown of her head, ’’See you soon, little princess.’’

Daisy’s heart skipped a beat when he turned and met her gaze before he left and the room returned to it’s peace.

But of course, there was another person who was not at peace. That was Secretary Han who had his eyes popping wide as he mouth opened and closed like that of a koi fish. What... What in the universe? If that previous kiss on the cheek outside was just a greeting then the one that he witnessed just now... this moment...

If that person was just attempting to seduce their elder miss, why would he be so close to little miss Angel and from elder miss’ reaction, it did not seem like an out of ordinary occurrence at all. Secretary Han glanced at little miss Angel who was sleeping on the bed and he had wild idea forming in his head. This was obviously a family moment. Could it be it little miss Angel’s mysterious and unknown father was none other than Mr. Harper himself?

He gulped at his own assumption and gulped some more of his saliva when he thought back to the scary look on the man’s face when he looked at him.

At this moment, his phone vibrated constantly in his pockets and Secretary Han pulled it out to check but his paled even more, not from fear this time but from apparent panic.

He looked at Daisy who seemed to be in a daze. It was obvious that elder miss was not in a good mood after Mr. Harper’s departure but he knew he had to break it to her.

’’Elder miss, the news regarding Madam’s health condition has been portrayed by the media in a negative light and the shares have been dropping constantly.

Daisy took the phone from his hand and looked through the reports that he presented. Her brows tugged together slightly.

’’Even the news of President’s abrupt departure has been publicized.’’

’’When did this start?" Daisy said as she pushed herself to her feet and stepped inside her walk-in-closet while the man was still sitting there.

’’The day when President left,’’ Secretary Han said without moving from his spot.

Daisy came out with a dark beige checked blazer in her hand, ’’And I am getting to know about this only now because...?"

’’B-Because...’’ Secretary Han stuttered slightly because he had not expected this transition to be so smooth. Till a few days back, elder missy still seemed like she wanted to have nothing to do with the company. With the President’s sudden departure, he thought it would take a lot of convincing and time for her to take over the position.

Even when he came to met her, she still seemed to be in light mood. But in the blink of an eye, her aura seemed to have changed completely. She was still wearing the same clothes, just with an addition of a blazer that she held in her hand but the air around her was different.

’’That’s because the COO had it handled. The situation seemed to be under control and I thought you needed some time to adjust so I tried to observe first.’’

After wearing her heels, Daisy picked the sleeping Angel into her arms and covered her in the baby wrap completely, just leaving her little head to peek out. The little girl opened her eyes in a daze but then she moved to a better position and closed her eyes again, snoring softly.

’’Let’s go,’’ Daisy said.

’’Ah?’’ Secretary Han quickly stood up. Go where? To the company? "Go?" He could not help but look at little miss Angel.

Daisy turned to look at him, ’’Did I stutter?"

’’Ah...No... Sure,’’ he felt like his mind was crashing after multiple shocks in a row today. It had been stimulated quite a bit early in the morning which is why he was slow. But he composed himself and said, ’’The driver should be waiting outside only,’’ After all, he had already expected her to go under such circumstances so he had made preparations before he came over.

Just as Secretary Han had taken two steps, he realized that Daisy had not budged the slightest from the spot. But instead, she was looking at him thoughtfully.

"_" He broke out in cold sweat.

’’You worked for my father for a long time?"

Secretary Han immediately responded with a ’Yes’.

’’Did he ever attempt to fire you?"

F-Fire him...? Secretary Han was entirely drenched in cold sweat at this point. Bohooo. Missy, stop scaring me, will you?" ’’N-No,’’ he answered.

’’Then, you must functioned properly back then,’’ she retracted her gaze from him, ’’If you work for me, my words are not to be questioned, Secretary Han.’’

With those words uttered, she walked out of the room without looking back at him.

But each of her words branded themselves in his mind. It suddenly dawned on him why she was so offended.

He remembered how she had asked him to talk about the company affairs in the presence of Mr. Harper but he had hesitated initially. So, this was her way of saying that she would not fire him if her words were questioned by him in such a manner again.

Whether it was because her decision was not carried out or because it involved Mr. Harper, Secretary Han didn’t know but he knew that he almost lost his job today so he knew what to do in the future. She had every authority to carry out every word she uttered.

He just had not taken her serious in that moment because he thought as a young girl with no working experience, she was being impulsive. But her words made him realize that she intended Ryle to be a part of that discussion.

And for a fact, Secretary Han in fact, was overthinking when he thought Daisy was a young girl who was swept away by this seducer and was acting on impulse.

Because first of all, Daisy and Ryle, have had many life and death encounters for her to not trust him. If she could trust him with her life and her little daughter, then there was nothing else that she could not trust him with because what could be more precious than a person’s life?

Secondly, even if one did not consider those things then they had to think that Daisy had worked for Ryle for over years. She had equally access to his company secrets and she possessed the ability to mess with him to extremes. However, that was rather far-fetched because Daisy had not thought past her trust for Ryle.

Ryle happened to be there, unwilling to leave the room. And she did not mind his presence in the slightest which is why she had asked Secretary Han to continue speaking.

However, Secretary Han of course did not know that his new Boss’ mind worked in a straight line in such matters which is why he kept overcooking things in his mind.
