Chapter 106: Scary
As his palm slid inside, a jolt of pleasure seemed to have shot inside Daisy, an itch growing inside her. She instinctively tried to press her legs together but the man was standing in between them.
While his hand teased her, his tongue did not stay idle on her neck as well.
It took Daisy every bit of her remaining consciousness to go against the demands of her body. She mustered every ounce of willpower within her to push the man away.
Perhaps sensing her resistance towards him, Ryle took a step back from her.
Daisy pushed herself of the kitchen counter and tried to fix her appearance in the dark even though there was no decency left to them.
’’Are you trying to ignore me again?" the lingering silence between them made a discomfort creep in Ryle’s heart, mixed with a hint of anger, ’’Or are you going to pretend that you did not want this? That you do not want more?" his fingers curled into a fist.
Daisy did not respond to him as she walked around the counter and turned on the lights before she walked back to him but this time, there was decent amount of distance between them, ’’I’ll ask you the same question I asked earlier this evening,’’ Daisy looked at him, dead in the eyes as if the person before was just a fragment of his illusion.
’As if she could fool me with that straight face,’ Ryle thought. Those tactics of hers might have worked on others but to him she was like an open book. To think that she believed she would act unaffected and he would believe she was unaffected.
He refused to believe that she was not tormented in the same fire that was burning him. That she did not desire him just as much.
Daisy’s consequent words seemed to have poured a bucket of cold water on Ryle.
’’What is it that you want from me?"
Daisy watched as the confident and oh-so-sure expression dispersed from the man’s face. His face was cold and unfathomable, and what he was thinking of was a mystery to her. But she could assume that perhaps he was awaken to the practical side of what they were both pursuing.
"Is it a relationship that you want from me?" Daisy asked.
"I don’t do relationships.’’
’’Very well,’’ Daisy nodded, ’’Nor do I. Even if I had any second thoughts, it would not be now. I am not at the stage in my life where I want the troubles of a man. I am good as I am.’’
She always wanted to be alone, deciding to never start a relationship or a family. The inclusion of Angel in her life made things much more special for her but that did not mean her preferences had changed. Her life was complete. She still did not want a man, more so now that she had Angel. She did not want a person who might expect her to give birth to his child in future or even worse things.
’’Do you want to sleep with me?" Daisy questioned the man again.
’’Sleep is not the word I would like to put it as...’’ He did not know what was the weird feeling that consumed him when she put it like that.
’’Fine. Do you want to have sex with me?" Daisy did not know why it was a big deal but she still rephrased her words to comfort him.
But the man’s expressions worsened even further.
Daisy lost her patience, ’’Do you want to fuck me?"
’’Daisy.’’ His voice dropped, a sense of warning in those eyes.
But Daisy did not back out, ’’Forgive my vocabulary, but if that is what you want from me, you can have it. Your rules,’’ she knew how he functioned in such matters. He had a woman only once, ’’We can be at it. Only once. In the meantime, I can find some other place and move out if here. I am not going to be one of your...’’
’’Finish that sentence, Daisy and see what I do to you,’’ Ryle’s face darkened.
’’I am just figuring things out.’’
’’Go back to the room,’’ Ryle said coldly.
’’It’s better to talk things out and clarify...’’
’’Get back, Daisy,’’ his voice was barely above a whisper this time.
Daisy wanted to speak but seeing his persistence, she grabbed the water bottle and left the kitchen.
Ryle placed a palm on his face, dragging it down as he closed his eyes and leaned back on the kitchen counter.
The next day, it was past 10 am when Daisy woke up. Angel was still sleeping.
The memories of last night passed in her mind and she shut them out, remembering how the conversation ended.
As she sat there, she realized that she had come over to Ryle’s place so abruptly and under such circumstances that she had not made any preparations. She did not even have toiletries or Angel’s essential stuffs.
Daisy felt like it would be better to first feed Angel before going to supermarket.
She leaned over and kissed the little girl’s forehead, ’’Wake up now...’’
But the girl squinted her eyes and wheedled a bit before flipping to the side as she continued snoring lightly.
’’Wake up, baby..’’ Daisy kissed the girl’s cheek again.
But the girl buried her face in the mattress, mumbling something incomprehensible.
As lazy as a pig.
Ideally, Daisy would let her sleep seeing how lazy she was being but then it has been over 8 hours since she last ate something so she could not let her sleep any longer.
’’Wake up, and you get one strawberry in an addition to your breakfast.’’
The little girl seemed to stir in her sleep.
This was something that Daisy had long noticed about Angel. Even when she was less than a year old, her way of perceiving things were rather fast for her age. And now as she grew up, she seemed to understand things that people talked about but the little girl only responded to those words that were of her benefit with her incomprehensible and most of the times, adorable phrases.
"Wakeup now or I will take my offer back.’’
’’Mommy... no... wakey..’’ the girl mumbled and in the next few seconds, she started snoring softly again.
Daisy looked at her helplessly.
At this time, there were two consecutive knocks on the door.
Daisy glanced at the closed door, a hint of anticipation in her heart that even she did not realize.
’’Miss Chen, are you awake?" Aunty Lu’s voice sounded from outside the door, and Daisy’s eyes dimmed instantly.
She stopped craning her neck and sat straighter on the bed, pulling the blankets to cover her bare legs, ’’Yes, please come in.’’
’’Miss Chen, that...’’
’’Call me Daisy,’’ Daisy cut the woman off.
Aunty Lu smiled, ’’...Ah... Miss Daisy..’’
’’Daisy.’’
’’Daisy...’’ Aunty Lu felt rather helpless, facing the young lady’s stubborn stature.
Pleased with the modification, Daisy nodded, ’’Please take a seat. Is there something you wanted to talk about?"
Aunty Lu sat on the couch rather than sitting on the bed where Daisy was pointing her fingers at, ’’Here is thing. Master has made some arrangements for you and little miss but since both of you were sleeping, I did not want to disturb you. I knocked a few hours ago but you were sleeping so I left instead and came back to check just now.’’
’’I did not realized when you knocked on the door,’’ Daisy said, thinking about it. She was usually a light sleeper. Even the sound of approaching footsteps would wake her up. But somehow she had slept with her guards lowered. Maybe because she hadn’t slept all night or probably the reason was that Angel was sleeping so peacefully without stirring so Daisy also did not realize how long she had slept for.
’’I had not locked the door before I slept. You could have woken me up if you needed something,’’ After all, this was the Master bedroom. Before any other arrangements were made, Ryle had out us here but still, there were his stuff everywhere so she left the door open in case he needed something.
’’It was not me. Actually...’’ Talking about that, Aunty Lu’s expression turned a little strange.
Daisy patiently waited for the woman to speak.
"When I woke up, Master was sleeping on the couch in the living room. Some time later, he got up and asked me to fetch a few files from his room,’’ Aunty Lu felt like she was too early to say good things. It was just yesterday when she was telling Daisy that Ryle had grown up to be a gentleman who always had a smile on his face but the expression she witnessed on him in the morning, mirrored with that of him when he was a child.
It just looked more scary, and dangerous rather than the harmlessness that he sported as a child.
