Chapter 297: Revelation Part - II

Su Mo suddenly remembered another matter that had been bothering him since yesterday’s encounter.

Turning his attention back toward the motionless Wu Yuna, he asked in a steady voice, "When you attacked Qingxi yesterday, was capturing her supposed to be your way of manipulating me?"

His expression remained calm, but the seriousness in his eyes made it obvious that this wasn’t an idle question. Whatever answer Wu Yuna gave would reveal yet another part of Wu Taeyong’s scheme.

Wu Yuna nodded without the slightest hesitation. Under the effects of Su Mo’s illusion, hiding the truth was impossible.

"If she had become our hostage, controlling you would’ve been much easier."

"However, after I failed, I switched to Plan B, which was to seriously injure or even kill her."

She continued in the same emotionless tone, as though she were merely explaining an ordinary sequence of events instead of a murderous conspiracy.

"That would’ve enraged you enough to attack the sect. Once you were defeated and imprisoned, taking you away from the prison would’ve been an easy task."

A cold sneer gradually appeared on Su Mo’s face.

"I see... so that’s what you had planned."

His eyes slowly narrowed, and although his voice remained calm, everyone present could hear the dangerous chill hidden beneath those words.

"Unfortunately, you made one very serious mistake. If anything had happened to Qingxi, I wouldn’t have cared about the consequences. I would’ve razed this entire sect to the ground along with you all, and none of you would’ve been able to stop me."

Song Meilin instinctively wanted to object.

Thousands of disciples lived inside the White Moon Sect, and the majority of them had nothing to do with Wu Taeyong’s crimes.

She wanted to remind Su Mo that countless innocent people would become victims if he truly acted on those words, but the argument never left her lips because the truth she had learned today had completely overturned everything she believed.

Compared to the monster manipulating the sect from the shadows, even the elders and the sect master now seemed like pieces being moved across the same chessboard.

The room gradually became quiet again as everyone digested the conversation. After several moments of silence, Su Mo asked another question that had remained in the back of his mind ever since arriving at the White Moon Sect.

"What about the Pishachas? Where did they come from?"

The moment those words were spoken, Song Meilin immediately looked toward Wu Yuna.

The White Moon Sect had spent generations searching for the origin of those monsters, yet despite countless expeditions and unimaginable sacrifices, nobody had ever uncovered the truth.

Since Wu Taeyong had lied about so many things already, she couldn’t help wondering whether he had concealed that secret as well.

If that were the case, then he truly deserved to be called abominable.

Unfortunately... Reality proved far crueler than she had imagined.

Wu Yuna slowly raised her head and looked directly at Su Mo before answering in the same indifferent voice.

"The source of every Pishacha in Frostspine Mountains...is Wu Taeyong."

The room instantly fell into silence.

Su Mo’s pupils contracted as disbelief flashed across his face.

Yang Qingxi, who had remained remarkably composed throughout the interrogation, also lost her calm expression. Neither of them had expected the truth to be this outrageous.

"...No way."

"...How is that even possible?"

Those were the only words either of them could manage.

Yet compared to Song Meilin, their reactions were almost insignificant.

She simply froze where she stood, her eyes fixed upon Wu Yuna without blinking as if the entire world around her had suddenly disappeared.

Her thoughts became completely blank because accepting those words meant denying everything she had believed throughout her entire life.

She couldn’t believe it.

No... She couldn’t accept it.

If the founder of the White Moon Sect was the source of every Pishacha, then what exactly had the White Moon Sect been fighting for during all these centuries?

Every disciple who had marched onto the battlefield, every elder who had sacrificed themselves protecting the younger generation, every senior she had admired, every funeral she had attended... what meaning did any of those sacrifices still possess?

Wu Yuna continued speaking without caring about the storm raging inside Song Meilin’s heart.

"Because of his special cultivation technique, and because he himself is a pure-blooded Pishacha, Wu Taeyong can freely switch between his human form and his Pishacha form. Every Grade One, Grade Two and Grade Three Pishacha was personally created by him using that technique together with the bodies of deceased cultivators."

Song Meilin felt as though another heavy hammer had struck her heart.

The monsters... Those enemies... The creatures responsible for countless deaths...

They hadn’t been born naturally but were artificially created and that too by the first person to lead the charge?

Yang Qingxi slowly lowered her gaze as numerous clues connected together inside her mind.

From the moment Wu Yuna had revealed Wu Taeyong’s cultivation method until now, countless contradictions had finally found an explanation.

After remaining silent for several moments, she calmly raised her head again.

"I understand."

Su Mo immediately turned toward her.

"What did you figure out?"

Yang Qingxi organized her thoughts before speaking, her voice remaining as calm as ever despite the horrifying conclusion she had reached.

"Wu Taeyong never established the White Moon Sect to protect anyone. He established it because he needed a constant supply of powerful souls to reach the Soul Formation Stage."

"Hunting Golden Core cultivators throughout the cultivation world would’ve been extremely difficult, and even if he found them, they would most certainly belong to powerful sects or influential families. If he killed a hundred of them, the entire cultivation world would’ve united against him."

She paused briefly before continuing, allowing everyone to follow her reasoning.

"So he chose a different approach. Instead of searching for Golden Core cultivators himself, he created an environment that would naturally produce them. First, he created the threat of the Pishachas. Then he appeared before the world as the righteous cultivator who opposed them and established the White Moon Sect."

"Many righteous cultivators who admired his actions came to follow him and joined the sect."

Su Mo and Song Meilin quietly listened without interrupting.

"The disciples hunted Pishachas, obtained resources from them, and gradually became stronger. Once they died, their bodies became materials for creating new Pishachas, while their souls became nourishment for Wu Taeyong’s cultivation of the Soul Orb. Although this process was slow, time meant very little to someone who had already lived for centuries."

Yang Qingxi’s explanation became increasingly chilling as the missing pieces continued falling into place.

"He didn’t need results immediately because sooner or later, talented cultivators were bound to appear. Once those geniuses reached the Golden Core Stage but lacked enough potential to advance further, stronger Pishachas would suddenly appear around them and beseige them."

"Their deaths would be recorded as unfortunate accidents caused by increasingly powerful monsters, making everyone inside the sect hate the Pishachas even more."

Her gaze remained perfectly steady.

"The survivors would become even more determined to cultivate. They would train harder, fight harder, and produce even stronger experts."

"Eventually, those experts would also become part of Wu Taeyong’s harvest. Their souls advanced his cultivation, their corpses became new Pishachas, and another generation would unknowingly repeat the same cycle."

She slowly finished her deduction.

"The White Moon Sect was never a sanctuary. It was Wu Taeyong’s personal farm."

"For centuries, he watched every generation struggle inside the cage he built, harvesting the strongest cultivators whenever they finally matured."

The room became completely silent again.

Even Su Mo couldn’t immediately respond because the conclusion explained everything almost too perfectly.

Every contradiction, every mystery, every suspicious incident they had encountered since arriving at the White Moon Sect suddenly connected into a single horrifying picture.

Wu Taeyong hadn’t merely deceived a few people. He had deceived every generation of White Moon Sect.

"Bastard!"

Song Meilin’s trembling voice shattered the silence.

"Bastard! Damn you!"

Her eyes had already turned bloodshot as tears slowly gathered within them. Her entire body trembled uncontrollably, not because she was afraid, but because the foundation supporting her entire life had completely collapsed in a matter of moments.

She had devoted herself to the White Moon Sect.

She had admired its founder.

She had believed every sacrifice made by her seniors carried meaning.

She had risked her own life countless times believing she was protecting future generations from the Pishachas.

Now she discovered that everything had merely been another move on Wu Taeyong’s chessboard.

The battles she had fought... The comrades she had lost... The loyalty she had sworn...

None of it had ever mattered or held any meaning for the schemes of the person standing at the very top.

Unable to bear that realization any longer, Song Meilin slowly slumped onto the floor. Her eyes became vacant as she stared ahead without focus, looking like someone whose faith had collapsed completely.
