Chapter 287: Ye Chen & Wu Chaochang!

A cold smile surfaced on her lips.

Wu Lao.

Wu Haruto.

The future Sect Master position, and the powerful White Moon Sect.

One by one, those things appeared in her mind.

Originally, after being turned into a woman after eating that strange pill, Ye Chen’s greatest wish had been simple. She wanted to cultivate, grow stronger, and eventually find a method to return to being a man.

That was all.

However, people change. Especially after tasting power.

The White Moon Sect was one of the strongest forces in the world. It possessed resources, techniques, disciples, and influence far beyond what an individual cultivator could achieve alone.

If such a force could become hers, why should she give it up?

Wouldn’t that be wasteful?

A force of this scale serving others felt almost sinful.

Naturally, it should belong to someone more capable.

Someone... like her.

The beautiful young woman sitting quietly by the window looked almost like a fairy from a painting.

Elegant. Gentle. Harmless.

Yet beneath that flawless appearance lurked thoughts filled with greed, ambition, and calculation.

The face was that of an angel.

The heart beneath it was that of a devil.

---

Meanwhile, driven by a festering desire for revenge, Wu Chaochang had already slipped into the Sect Master’s residence.

At first, he had been cautious. The possibility of running into Wu Haruto or the man’s personal guards had forced him to move carefully, concealing every trace of his presence while observing the situation from the shadows.

However, after spending some time investigating the residence and gathering information from the movements of servants and guards, he discovered that Wu Haruto had already left for his office.

The conclusion was obvious.

If Wu Haruto was working elsewhere, then the strongest guards under his command would naturally accompany him.

That left only servants and a handful of weaker guards behind.

For Wu Chaochang, it was the perfect opportunity.

With a little effort, he had managed to uncover the identity of the woman called Miss Ling.

Her full name was Ye Ling. The woman Wu Lao wished to marry. She was living within this residence.

A cold smile appeared beneath Wu Chaochang’s scarred face.

Since he could not immediately strike at Wu Haruto or Wu Lao, then collecting a little interest beforehand wasn’t a bad alternative.

Still concealed beneath the Night Cloak Technique, he moved through the residence like a ghost. Having once lived within the sect, he already understood many of the defensive arrangements and knew where the gaps existed. Avoiding patrols and bypassing restrictions was far easier than it should have been.

One room after another. He searched very patiently.

Wu Chaochang did not release his spiritual sense. Doing so would only increase the risk of alerting others. Instead, he relied on his eyes, ears, and instincts.

Then, while moving through a quieter section of the residence, he suddenly paused.

His gaze settled on a particular room.

For reasons he couldn’t explain, his heart gave a strange tug.

It wasn’t logical, simply instinct. The inexplicable feeling that the person he was searching for was behind that door.

Wu Chaochang slowly approached.

His hand settled on the door handle.

It was locked.

A faint trace of spiritual energy flowed from his fingertips. The locking mechanism clicked softly before disengaging.

Carefully, he pushed the door open just enough to peer inside.

The next moment, his pupils contracted and his breathing stopped. For a brief instant, he simply stood there in a daze.

’A fairy...’

That was the first thought that entered his mind. The second thought arrived immediately afterward.

A surge of irrational resentment rose within his chest.

’How can such a fairy be left for a pig like Wu Lao?’

The more he looked at her beauty, the more displeased he became.

Wu Lao.

That useless fool.

That pampered young master.

He never liked him since the time their were kids.

What right did such a man have to possess someone like her?

A sneer formed on Wu Chaochang’s lips.

Without hesitation, he quietly spread spiritual energy around the room, creating a sound barrier that would prevent any noise from escaping.

Ye Chen had only recently begun learning the basics of cultivation.

How could she possibly detect the subtle spiritual fluctuations of a Quasi-Foundation Establishment cultivator?

Although she vaguely sensed something unusual in the air, she couldn’t identify what it was.

However, the faint sound of the door opening was impossible to miss.

Her head snapped toward the entrance immediately.

"Who are you?" she asked coldly. "Who let you in?"

By this point, Wu Chaochang had already removed the Night Cloak Technique.

His appearance was fully exposed.

The moment Ye Chen saw his face, a flash of disgust appeared within her eyes.

It lasted for only a fraction of a second.

She didn’t say anything nor insulted him. There was no need to waste words.

Yet Wu Chaochang noticed the change instantly. Her disgusted expression struck him like a needle.

A burst of rage surged through his chest. His handsome appearance had already been ruined. Which has been his pain point for the last few days.

And now even a woman without cultivation dared to look at him with disgust?

The resentment he carried toward the world deepened.

So what if she was beautiful?

Without cultivation, she was no different from ordinary women, he used to refine during his cultivation practice.

Meanwhile, Ye Chen’s expression became increasingly cold.

The ugly man standing before her had completely ignored her question. Instead, his eyes wandered across her body with unconcealed greed and lust.

That gaze alone was enough to make her uncomfortable.

More importantly, it made her angry.

"Guards!"

Her voice rang out immediately.

Unfortunately, her call was met with no response.

Seeing this, Wu Chaochang burst into laughter. The sound echoed through the room.

"Scream all you want," he said mockingly. "Nobody’s going to hear you."

His grin widened.

"From now on, it’s our personal time. Just the two of us. Only you...and me."

Ye Chen’s brows furrowed. The chill in her eyes intensified.

She was all too familiar with that predatory gaze.

After all, when she had been a man she used to have the same look whenever she saw a beautiful woman matching her taste.

Truthfully speaking, she was even more lustful.

Now it was her turn to be on the receiving end.

Fate truly does play a joke.

The hunter of the past has now become a rabbit.

But—

Dammit it. Even a rabbit has fangs.

The fact that she had become a woman did not erase the countless years of experience she had spent as a mercenary.

Without hesitation, Ye Chen moved. Her body rushed forward with astonishing speed.

A slender leg swept through the air toward Wu Chaochang’s neck.

The attack was swift, precise, and vicious.

Against an ordinary person, it would have been devastating, may even direct kill.

Unfortunately, Wu Chaochang wasn’t an ordinary person. He casually raised his hand.

Smack.

Her ankle was caught effortlessly between his fingers. The entire attack stopped instantly.

A playful smile appeared on his face.

"Quite feisty, aren’t you?" His fingers tightened around her ankle.

"Too bad you don’t have the strength to support that temper."

Ye Chen’s face turned dark. Wu Chaochang next actions made her feel even more humiliated and disgusted.

Because his other hand slid against her skin to rub her ankle and calf, to get a feel.

She felt goosebumps appear on her. Disgust flashed through her eyes, as she tried to pull her leg back.

But, nothing happened. His grip felt like an iron vice.

No matter how much strength she used, she couldn’t move.

The gap between an ordinary person and a cultivator was simply too large.

"Release me immediately," Ye Chen said coldly. Her voice contained neither panic nor pleading.

Only anger.

As she continued to threaten him.

"Otherwise, you’ll face the wrath of the entire White Moon Sect."

"Oh?"

Wu Chaochang looked amused.

"And how exactly will that happen?"

Ye Chen gritted her teeth.

"I am betrothed to Wu Lao, the son of the current Sect Master."

The words felt unpleasant coming out of her mouth.

If circumstances were different, she would rather swallow nails than use a man’s name as protection. It was extremely humiliating for her, who was actually a man.

Unfortunately, her current reality was that, she needed that name to escape this disaster.

"If you dare to harm me," she continued, "the White Moon Sect will hunt you down and kill you. So, I am giving you a chance, if you leave right this instant. I’ll forget what had just happened and not pursue this matter."

She could only try to threaten while pacifying this man for now. As for forgiving him? Dream on!

As soon as she gets the chance later, she swears she will skin him alive.

Wu Chaochang stared at her for a moment. Then he laughed.

"Kill me? Hahaha!"

The sound carried throughout the sealed room.
