Chapter 943: Dragon Slayer Warrior 2

"Alright, alright, let’s eat, let’s eat." Jesse pointed outside, "Let’s wash our hands first."

Tianmiao nodded, jumped off the chair, and followed behind Jesse.

Jesse fetched a bucket of water from the well in the backyard and poured it into a basin for Tianmiao to wash her hands.

"I don’t have to stand guard or patrol tomorrow. How about I take you to the fields outside the town to catch hedgehogs?" Jesse said as he wiped Tianmiao’s chubby little hands with a towel.

"Catch them to eat? But hedgehog meat isn’t tasty, right? There’s hardly any." Tianmiao thought seriously.

Jesse: "..."

Isn’t a cute little girl’s reaction supposed to be like, wow, yeah, so cute, what shall we feed the little hedgehogs? Isn’t that how it should be? Why does his little girl think about eating first?

"No, you can’t eat them. Hedgehogs have lots of bugs on them, they’re not clean." Jesse dismissed the idea of catching hedgehogs for Tianmiao.

"Alright." Tianmiao felt a bit disappointed.

"But, we can go pick some chestnuts, and I’ll roast chestnuts for you." Jesse saw Tianmiao’s disappointed expression and felt like a sinner, so he quickly suggested.

"That sounds great." Tianmiao smiled and nodded.

Early the next morning, Jesse got up first and went to the town market to buy things. He knew Tianmiao liked to sleep in, so he aimed to return home before she woke up.

He stood in front of a pork vendor, pointed at a piece of meat, and said, "Wrap this up for me, and give me some ribs, too."

"Jesse, you’ve been coming here a lot lately. And you buy quite a bit each time." The Boss skillfully packed the meat and handed it to Jesse.

"I can’t help it, my sister loves meat." Jesse smiled as he took the meat and paid.

"That sister you picked up?" Suddenly, the butcher’s daughter chimed in sharply.

"How are you talking to Jesse? So rude." The butcher glared at his daughter. His daughter was nineteen and seemed to have been interested in Jesse for a while. But Jesse didn’t seem to reciprocate.

"But..." The butcher’s daughter wanted to protest further, but Jesse, holding his purchases, smiled and nodded at the Boss before quickly heading out.

After Jesse left, the daughter said to her father, "Dad, why didn’t you let me say anything? It’s true, Jesse used to never buy meat for himself, but now he buys it often for that wild child. If this continues, life will be tough after marrying him. If we have kids, do we still have to support that wild child? What about our own kids?"

The butcher widened his eyes, raised the knife in his hand, and scolded, "Did your brain switch with a pig’s or something? What Jesse buys is with his own money, none of your business. You think too highly of yourself, marrying Jesse? When has he ever looked at you? If you’re not fully awake, go back to sleep. Don’t get in my way, or else I’ll hit someone."

The daughter gave her father a fierce glare and ran back inside the house.

"Dreaming in broad daylight." The butcher snorted coldly as he plunged the knife into the chopping board. Jesse, despite having no parents, is handsome, polite, and gentle, so he’s quite popular. Someone like him is satisfactory, but he’s not interested in his daughter. What’s the use of being pleased?

Jesse went on to buy some vegetables, cheese, and even pudding, then turned to head home.

Meanwhile, Tianmiao, just now rubbing her eyes and yawning, struggled to get out of bed.
