Chapter 816: 816 - flames of death
[Can you sense that aura?] The Dragon Elder spoke via sound transmission to the Elder of Celestial Will.
[Do you think he might be...] The reply came hesitantly.
[The heir to Long Wujin’s power, standing beside his daughter. It’s obvious this is more than just a coincidence. Study this young dragon’s aura closely!]
The Elder of Celestial Will heightened his senses, sifting through Qingyi’s aura layer by layer.
In the next instant, his eyes widened, and his breath caught in his throat.
[Shit. . . that really is Long Wujin’s aura! Should we intervene? The Primordial Dragon Empress ordered us to find out everything we could about him while we were here! We’d be well rewarded if we took him, along with Rou’er, to the land of the true gods.]
The Dragon Elder fell silent, his somber gaze fixed on the young man’s distant figure.
After what seemed like an eternity, he finally replied.
[What if an accident were to occur? What if all the witnesses were to die, and Rou’er were to fall unconscious, losing her memories?]
The Elder of Celestial Will was about to protest against that absurd idea, but the Dragon Elder cut him off before a single word could escape his lips.
[You’re from the same era as I am, and we’re both survivors of the faction that opposed our primordial empresses—have you forgotten that? Have you forgotten what Long Wujin did to the opposition? The terror he inflicted upon us? Do you really think it’s worth the risk of having a new Long Wujin among us?]
In life, in the land of the true gods, Long Wujin bore a very different title.

He was not known as the Corruption Dragon God. He was the scourge of the corrupt and the traitors.
Most of the elders felt an icy chill run down their spines at the mere thought of receiving a visit from him.
The followers of the Celestial Will, the Dragons...
All of them, without exception, recognized Long Wujin as a great terror.
[We should let Huang Yaori kill him. Get rid of all the witnesses, and then find a way to erase the young lady’s memories before we return.]
The Dragon Elder nodded, carefully releasing his aura to shield that world from what was to come.
His eyes fixed on Yaori, who appeared before Qingyi at the exact moment the young man was trying to reach Rou’er.
The young dragon had no idea what was going on in the minds of those elders, but the moment Yaori materialized in front of him—his leg already raised at the peak of a kick—he felt danger course through every fiber of his being.
His eyes widened, and, out of pure instinct, he crossed his forearms in front of his body.
In the next instant, a thunderous explosion tore through the secret realm.
Terrible pain ripped through Qingyi’s chest and arms, the air violently expelled from his lungs as agony surged into every corner of his body.
Bones cracked like brittle twigs beneath the crushing force.
A shockwave—one that alone would have been capable of collapsing that entire secret realm had it not been for the Dragon Elder maintaining the place’s stability—spread in all directions.
Below the platform, everything within a radius of one hundred kilometers was swept away in an instant; trees ignited and crumbled into ash, and rocks liquefied into flowing magma the moment they touched Yaori’s devastating Qi.
Qingyi’s body broke the sound barrier, the air around him igniting as he hurtled along an uncontrolled trajectory.
He only stopped when he crashed into an ancient mountain, the impact triggering violent tremors that rippled throughout the secret realm.
There, half-buried among rocks that had melted into magma from the sheer heat of his arrival, Qingyi coughed up blood, the metallic, searing taste flooding his mouth.
His arms were broken, as were his ribs and every one of his internal organs.
It would not be wrong to say that everything inside him had been reduced to a grotesque paste of crushed guts and torn flesh.
[Qingyi... Qingyi! Can you hear me?!] Ruxue’s desperate voice echoed in his mind.
Quickly, the blessing of the Tree of Life within his body began to stir, filaments of greenish light coursing through his veins as they rushed to mend his shattered arms.
"Yes..." Qingyi managed to say, forcing himself to stand on trembling legs.
He wanted to assume his draconic form.

He wanted to unleash the death and terror of the primordial chaos flames upon all those pigs. . .
But Rou’er was still there.
He knew full well that if he used the primordial chaos flames at that moment, he wouldn’t be able to control them. Those flames would devour everything, without distinction.
His eyes narrowed, and he blocked out everything around him.
He just had to get to Rou’er!
Qingyi roared with all the strength and fury he had left, then charged forward once more, his body turning into a blur before a spatial rift swallowed him whole.
"Oh... black dragon worm, your spatial control is quite impressive!" Yaori cackled, and Qingyi felt his body wrenched from the spatial fold as a brutal kick slammed squarely into his face.
He tried to react.
He even tore open the talisman that was supposed to contain an attack capable of killing a celestial emperor.
A translucent sword Qi emerged from within the talisman, traveling directly toward Yaori’s chest, striking with a force equivalent to a gentle breeze.
Yaori merely laughed, a small, almost imperceptible tear appearing in his clothes.
There was nothing wrong with the talisman; Yaori’s cultivation was simply too high.
He was, at the very least, three entire cultivation realms above the Celestial Emperor realm...
Qingyi’s body sank once more into the ground, carving out a crater that stretched for kilometers, rivers of lava spewing into the air as the impact stirred dormant volcanoes from their slumber.
For a moment, he lay there, motionless, his body half-buried in the steaming bowels of the earth.
"Ruxue..." he murmured softly.
"I’m going to take a risky move... okay?"
[No... what are you talking about, you idiot?]
"I’m going to send you to Rou’er, and after you take her to the mind world, I’ll send you to Xue Hua... you need to be strong, okay? Tell the girls to be strong... Your husband will take care of everything."
Qingyi forced himself to stand up, ignoring Ruxue’s desperate screams echoing in his mind.
His vision was fading, and he felt the cold touch of death settle on his back.
He could no longer heal his organs.
His Qi had dropped to less than thirty percent as he prevented his own body from turning to dust under those two attacks, and he knew full well that he wouldn’t last the next one.
[Qingyi... Qingyi!!! LISTEN TO ME!] Ruxue’s desperation grew with every passing second, but he ignored her.

"I’m sorry, love... I’ll be home for dinner... I promise... ask Elize to make a really hearty meal, okay?"
[SHUT UP, YOU BASTARD! SHUT UP AND RUN AWAY!]
With a slight wave of his hand, Qingyi activated a dual-transportation technique.
The Heaven-Defying Thunder Sword vanished from his hand, materializing directly into Rou’er’s grasp and pulling the young woman into the mind world.
Before the elders could even react, a second teleportation flared to life, propelling the Heaven-Defying Thunder Sword directly out of the secret realm.
It was a dangerous tactic, and he knew it well, but he forced himself to carry it out anyway.
"Ninety seconds..." Qingyi estimated the time he still had before he would be unable to maintain oxygen flow to his brain.
After that, within ten minutes, the stability of his soul would collapse completely.
He took a deep breath and, even knowing he wouldn’t have enough Qi to protect his own body, summoned the flames of primordial chaos.
He didn’t try to control them. Not this time.
Once, they had been the flames of life, the flames that had given life to each of the Primordials.
If necessary, Qingyi would turn them into the flames of death.
