Chapter 62: Chapter 62 : The Path of Mages

Zeres strolled around the library, then he sat at the center.

"This place is rich with mana, I might as well try it." He mumbled under his breath.

"Right, I have this" He said, pulling out an essence stone that’s no different to a shard.

"I should at least try meditating" he closed his eyes, then he slowly began to accumulate the mana around him.

Just then, he felt a faint presence.

He disregarded it, he thought it was just a staff.

And that was the biggest mistake of his life.

"Just how did it turn out like this? " he sighed, there were hundreds of book around him, neatly surrounding him like a cage.

"I heard you headed straight at the library, so I’m here to teach you, didn’t the headmaster himself told you I’ll be in charge of nurturing you? " Professor Elyssa said flatly.

She wore her usual outfit, a witch-top hat and a black dress adorned with golden embroidery tightly embracing her figure.

Still the same design, the slit on her right leg showed her white porcelain legs.

"I didn’t want to be tortured! " he snarled, his jaw clenching.

"You won’t be able to go out if your haven’t read that all and recite me the spells." A playful smile tugged at her lips as she stepped in closer.

"Didn’t you say so yourself? That you need to learn the basics."

"Though I don’t know what kind of thing you did for your rank to rise that drastically."

’Urghh’ Zeres grimaced.

If only he had known that his rank would be unstable, he wouldn’t have foolishly form all six stars inside his subconscious.

He remained silent for a moment, the occasional sound of pages flipping drifted across the room.

He was kidnapped into her private training room.

’This is tiring—but also unexpectedly fun.’ He thought inwardly.

His gaze drifting at the content of the page before him.

==Introduction for the Path of Mages==

What made mages different from all class is their ability to manipulate mana at will, with mana—they can conjure a fire, manipulate water or even reform the land.

But as it is the most powerful class known in history, it is also one with several drawbacks.

1. Having your mana depleted down to zero will cause you to be unconscious for several days or will make you no different than a limping old man.

2. Absorbing too much mana your body can’t contain will result in mana poisoning.

3. Knowledge is a mage’s greatest weapon.

According to the records of the Mage Association, every spell in existence is classified under six categories.

=Fragment=

=Verse=

=Chapter=

=Volume=

=Chronicle=

This system does not measure the amount of mana a spell consumes, nor does it judge a spell solely by destructive power.

Instead, it measures the complexity of the truth contained within a spell.

A Fragment Spell is the lowest classification known to mages.

Most gifted begin their journey from this stage.

Simple elemental manipulation, minor enhancements, basic restraints, and introductory combat spells are all considered Fragment Spells.

A Verse Spell contains several magical principles woven together.

Spells of this category possess greater stability, power, and versatility than ordinary Fragments.

Many gifted remain within this stage for years.

A Chapter Spell signifies that a mage has gained substantial understanding of their Path.

Spells of this category are capable of influencing large-scale battles and often require exceptional mana control to perform.

A Volume Spell is regarded as a strategic asset by kingdoms, noble houses, and mage towers.

The complexity contained within a single Volume Spell is enough to become the foundation of an entire magical lineage.

Chronicle Spells are exceedingly rare.

Each one is considered a masterpiece of magical understanding.

Many have shaped the course of history, altered the outcome of wars, and given birth to legends that continue to endure through the ages.

Above all stands Revelation.

The highest category ever recorded.

A Revelation is not simply a spell.

It is a truth of the world itself.

Only a handful of such records exist throughout history.

Some scholars believe Revelations are remnants left behind by beings who stood at the dawn of creation.

Others claim they are fragments of laws governing the world.

Whatever the truth may be, every Revelation possesses power beyond mortal understanding.

Because of this, most mages spend their entire lives chasing one impossible dream.

To leave behind a Revelation of their own.

’Wow, there’s so many things I don’t know about this world.’ He thought to himself.

He didn’t imagined the world would be so diversed that he had to learn that all.

’I need to thoroughly learn all of the basics and foundations of spell-casting—or else, I’ll be no different than an average vampire.’ He clenched his fist tight.

The clock on the wall continued to move, yet Zeres remained rooted on his seat, his eyes never leaving the pages of the book he’s holding.

Time passed, it was now 12:00 pm in the afternoon.

"I’m done" Zeres put down the last book he’s reading.

"Then we’ll start, your first training will be shortening the incantations slowly, until you could master it."

"We’ll start with whatever you liked, Blood magic or Dark magic? " she asked while sitting crossed-legged in a leather chair.

"... Dark magic" Zeres mumbled.

They had already figured it out anyways, that he was a dual-affinity gifted.

’Might as well take advantage of it’

Professor Elyssa nodded, her long wavy red hair fluttering behind her.

"Then begin"

"Rise from the abyss, Coil and restrain.

Dark Fragment: Night Shackles."

The air shifted, then a black magic circle fined before his palms, and black chains charged straight at the wooden dummy before him.

’Whoa, is this how it feel to learn magic properly?’ A satisfied smile tugged at his lips.

He liked it, the idea of succeeding by studying.

This was his first ever spell that he had learned thoroughly.

"Good, it looks quite easy to you, is it because of your race or you’re just talented? " Professor Elyssa nodded in satisfaction. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖

"Now, the next task will be for you to shorten it, it should be quite easy—it’s a spell mages of the initiate to seeker use after all."
