Chapter 61: Chapter 61 : The White Place
Five paths layed ahead of him, each having a rune hovering before it.
The path of Knight, Augmenter, Summoner, Tamer and Mage.
"I should just go with what resonates with me right?" He mumbled.
"Well, either way, I know I’m a mage." He crossed the cold ground, his direction heading straight at the path where a massive rune hovered before it as a gateway.
"This is amazing" he marvelled, his gaze drifting everywhere.
Tall pillars stretched ahead, a polished stone marble wall and five pathways with gigantic doors.
"How should I open this door? " he scratched the back of his head.
All of a sudden, the gigantic metal door swung open with a loud sound.
Zeres’ body jolted
"Jeez, this is giving me goosebumps" he said dryly, his gaze fixed on the dark path ahead of him.
"At least I have a dark vision" stepping inside, he crossed the dark pathway.
"Fuck, Is there no end to this? " he cursed under his breath.
Just then, after he took another step—he was engulfed in a blinding white light.
"Now what the fuck is this? " he hissed, his butt had hit the ground hard.
"Just where is this place? " dusting off his pants, he stood up—his gaze drifting everywhere.
The whole place was dyed white with golden runes etched in every tall pillars that stretch as if reaching the heavens. ancient looking paintings etched on the wall.
The painting depicted a man with a massive sun tattoo behind his back, it’s sword was shining bright like the sun itself.
And a woman with blurry painting was depicted on the side.
"Strange, the man’s painting is clear, but why is the woman’s painting the only one that’s been worn down by time? "
He stared at the woman’s painting closely, his eyes squinting as he took in every little detail he could see.
Just then, a shift of mana swirled around the place.
Zeres’ attention snapped towards the sound, behind him, the woman being depicted eyes moved, it stared at his back for a long moment—then it close its eyes.
"Interesting, it’s been a while since I’ve had a guest." A deep voice thundered, just the sound of the voice made Zeres’ body froze by instincts.
Whoever that voice came from, it wasn’t something he could bear to even meet in the eyes!
"Let me see, oh, a sanguine? "
"It’s been a while since I’ve seen one, but you looked like ◽️◽️◽️ ◽️◽️◽"
"Huh? " Zeres’ head snapped involuntarily.
What that man had said, he didn’t manage to hear it! Just like how the gargoyles greeted him, but today—even a static weren’t there.
A searing pain assaulted his head, it felt like his head was splitting.
[System Notice!]

One after another red screens appeared before him, each a notice of how dire his situation is.
"Ho? Interesting, what is that red screen thing? " the voice echoed again.
But Zeres’ had already slipped away, his consciousness drifting back to his body.
The whole place went silent as Zeres disappeared instantly.
"Is it the time already? " the voice mumbled to itself.
____________
"Phew" he swiped the sweat on his forehead, his gaze settling in the orb—there was a rune shining.
The rune of mage.
’As expected, I’m a mage’ he nodded quietly before he went out of of the lecture hall.
They won’t have a lesson today, it will take long for everyone of the cadets to complete the process of having ones own path.
’Still, what’s that? ’ he thought bitterly, he felt like his memories had become fragmented.
As if a part of his memory had been erased.
"Should I train?" He mumbled, clenching his fists—he crossed the hallway.
Arriving before a tall wooden door, he stepped inside.
Then he went straight at the librarian.
"What’s this for? " he slid in the golden plaque on the wooden table.
The librarians eyes widened, then he stood up, hurriedly fixing his clothes.
"That plaque will give you access until the fifth floor." The librarian eyes him suspiciously.
"What? You don’t believe this is mine? " Zeres snapped.
"N-no" the librarian shook his head strongly. "What floor would you like to go? "
"Fifth"
The librarian nodded, then he pulled out a short wand.
"Ulfres" he chanted.
The libarary shifted, the books around the corner all flew towards them, then it hovered—slowly forming as a staircase.
"Enjoy" he bowed, his hand extended in an inviting gesture for Zeres to went up.
He nodded, then he began climbing the staircase.
After some moments, he arrived at the fifth floor.
"What the" he uttered in bewilderment.
The place looked majestic, countless books hovered mid-air, their images turning.
The shelves themselves were also levitating, books flew in every direction.
A quill on the side table moved, it scribbled on the parchment, immediately registering Zeres name as on of the cadets permitted to enter.
"Just what magic is this? " he marvelled.
His inner child would be happy to see this scene, a scene you could only imagine on a book.
Just then, a boom flew straight at him, as if aiming for his head.
He ducked down immediately, instincts flaring.
"What the fuck" he muttered, his jaw clenching.
___________
The hallway was silent as a woman with long raven-black hair in soft waves crossed the hall.
Trudging quietly, her eyes sharpened as a memory surfaced inside her mind.
"Ho? What’s this, you’re the second one who entered my home today."
The voice from that white place had told her she was the second one who had entered the place.
She but her lip quietly, she tried to remember more, more about that place—but everytime she tried to think of it.
A searing pain was assaulting her brain, it felt like someone was tearing off her head.
’But I should be happy that they didn’t notice all of my affinities’ she clenched her fists.
If it hadn’t for Zeres telling her how he found out she had more than two affinities—then she’d long been found out.
"I owe you one I guess"
