Chapter 172: Dangerous Woman

Langston’s POV

As far as Langston knew, things between Ryan and Gwendolyn were going great.

His grandson had finally come to his senses and was going to make her a part of the family. At least that was what he had gleaned from the conversation that he had recently had with his grandson. But it seemed that that was not the case. Watching a clearly distraught Gwendolyn sitting across from him, Langston could not help but feel sorrow deep within his heart.

Oh Ryan.

Just what was wrong with his grandson that he could not see the gem that he was throwing away in Gwendolyn Stuart the fourth. After allowing her a moment to gather herself, Langston decided to push the matter once more.

"I cannot help you if you do not tell me what is going on, so please Gwendolyn, what do I not know about the situation? From what I can gather based on your reaction. You are hurting due to my grandson, yet I do not know why? What is it, sweet child?" Soft doe eyes locked onto his, and Langston’s heart ached.

" Grandfather Ryan is..." She cut herself off, her entire frame trembling, then she began again.

"Ryan has a-" Her voice failed her, and as he watched big fat tears ran down her face before she gently dabbed at them with her handkerchief.

"It is too difficult for me to voice," She finally said. Then she pulled out her phone.

"But I believe that if you were to see it, you’d fully understand why I am in this state," With that, she pushed the phone over to Langston and he picked it up. The first picture that greeted him was that of a naked, chubby woman who was jiggling her breasts, her lips in a pout as she winked at the screen, the action repeating over and over again.

What on earth! Pushing the phone away, Langston’s head snapped up as he looked over at Gwendolyn in shock.

"Gwendolyn, what is the meaning of this?" Instead of answering right away, she continued to dab her tears away.

"That is the reason for my heartbreak, grandfather,"

"What? You mean to tell me that you came all the way over here to cry over a naked woman. I have never known you to possess such foul manners," The girl shook her head.

"Please read what the article is saying about that woman, grandfather," He almost did not want to. The strange naked picture had been scarring enough, but Langston forced himself to take back the phone and read what was going on.

The moment that his eyes started skimming over the text instead of just being focused on the revolting picture, Langston felt all of the blood drain from his face.

There was no way this was true!

"Is this the truth?" He asked Gwendolyn, hoping that she would shake her head and say somebody had made up a malicious rumor about his grandson. But the sweet girl only confirmed what he wished was not true.

"It is grandfather. I have actually met that woman in Ryan’s penthouse and she was very mean to me," Despite being seated, Langston began to feel light-headed. His grandson was out there gallivanting with a gold digger!

He had a parasite attached to him and he was nurturing it. Gripping his cane and getting to his feet, Langston swayed on the spot and then dropped back down, with Gwendolyn suddenly right next to him.

"No, please, Grandfather. You promised that you would take care of your health. Don’t let this affect you. Please, please..." As angry as he was, for the sake of Gwendolyn, Langston got himself under control. He focused on his breathing.

In, out, in, out. That foolish grandchild of his was really trying to end him. But luckily, he had Gwendolyn by his side to keep him alive.

***

Now that he was a bit calmer and no longer feeling as though he were about to pass out, there was one emotion that was threatening to overwhelm Langston Terrell.

That emotion was shame.

How could his grandson behave in such a manner? From the articles and the pictures, it was clear that the woman he was with was an awful person and yet she was the woman that Langston’s grandson was choosing over Gwendolyn. How could Ryan do something so awful?

"I am so sorry, Gwendolyn. For what my grandson has done to you, words can never be enough to make it right, but please know that this apology is very sincere. Please, for my sake and yours, move on with your life. He is not worth it,"

"There’s no way I’m doing that,"

The sharpness of her tone caught him off guard. He had never heard her sound like that. When Langston looked at her, for a split second, he almost thought that he saw the eyes of a killer. But then he blinked and the look was gone, replaced by the soft innocence that he was used to from his Gwendolyn. Shaking his head, Langston fought to regain his focus. Clearly the episode he’d had earlier was still affecting him.

"There’s no way I can do that, grandfather," Gwendolyn said, her voice and her face portraying pure panic.

"Were it just a matter of Ryan leaving me for another woman, even if she’s somebody way below what he deserves, I would have been heartbroken but I would have accepted it," The young lady paused as she flicked a stray leaf off her dress. A dress that reminded Langston of the ones that his late wife used to wear. But that was not the main issue in that moment.

"That woman is dangerous. Ryan does not know it yet because he is being driven by lust. But the longer he stays in her presence, the more fearful I am for him,"

What?

"Are you certain that this young lady poses a risk to my grandchild?" Langston asked, his back straightening as his eyes sharpened.

Gwendolyn nodded, "I am, and I have actually brought proof."

She had brought proof? What sort of proof?

Gwendolyn took a shaky breath. "I have managed to find her ex-boyfriend and he is the one who came to me and told me just how deadly Vivian Rose is. I hope it was not too presumptuous of me, but I have actually brought him along today. Would you like to meet him and hear the story directly from him?" There was something off about her statement. Had she gone to find this ex, or had he come to her? Langston’s mind stalled over that, but then he looked into Gwendolyn’s sad eyes and he decided that that was not worth wasting his time over. He had to learn more about this dangerous Vivian Rose.
