Chapter 181: Chapter 181: The Truth (Part 1)
For some inexplicable reason, Wen Shu felt a tickle at the tip of her heart, spreading a tingling sensation from her chest to her hair.
When she came to her senses again, Yining had already withdrawn his gaze and was skillfully holding the Divine Tree Leaves, floating them one by one over the heads of the Beastmen.
The strange thing was, with each of his movements, the Divine Tree Leaves emanated a warm golden glow.
The feeling was as if he was effortlessly controlling the Divine Tree Leaves, rather than being granted the blessing power by the Divine Tree.
He seemed somehow different...
Wen Shu gazed thoughtfully at him, when suddenly her sight darkened, and a hot palm covered half of her face.
"I figured it out," Luo Fei pulled her into his arms with displeasure, "So you came here to see this pretty face?"
He looked unfavorably at the priest in the crowd, who approached, cold and statue-like under the moonlight, resembling a consecrated idol, and couldn’t help but click his tongue.
"You have quite the diverse taste, liking this type?"
Wen Shu couldn’t see anything, pushing his hand away, she lifted her head, meeting Yining’s eyes, which held a hint of a smile and reflected a faint golden glow.
"Ashu, long time no see."
He lightly pressed his lips together, speaking solemnly, as if they were reuniting across the ages.
Or perhaps more accurately, as if they were meeting?
Indeed, it felt like that; his attitude was truly strange.
His attitude, his speaking tone, the subtle expressions on his face were far more mature and composed than the last time they met.
Staring into his eyes for a while, Wen Shu even detected a hint of unfamiliarity in his familiar gaze...
"Yi..."
Before she could speak, Yining raised the Divine Tree Leaves, his white robe sleeves creating a breeze, the familiar cool scent gently enveloping her face.
"Ashu."
The warm golden light slowly descended from the top, heating the dark colors in Yining’s eyes, "After it’s over, let’s return to Bain City together, I have a lot to tell you."
The moment she accepted his gaze which remained calm for a second then rippled the next, Wen Shu’s breath unintentionally slowed.
"Alright..."
The moment she responded, his eyes filled with a trace of smile, and in a blink, he drifted lightly past her.
The brief blessing ended, Wen Shu’s mind still felt muddled as she pondered Yining’s peculiarity, but regardless of how hard she thought, she couldn’t find an answer.
He had changed so much; before, his face would blush when they made eye contact, but now, not only did he not blush, he smiled so... alluringly.
Could it be that he traveled back hundreds of years and has lived until now?
Seeing her bewildered by fascination, Luo Fei was furious, covering her eyes again, "Wen Shu, are you deliberately provoking me? Is he really that good-looking?"
Wu Xuan next to her pressed his lips tightly; he could certainly sense Ashu’s preference for him, yet she had never looked at him with that kind of gaze.
He let go of Wen Shu’s hand, sounding gloomy, "Ashu..."
Her thoughts interrupted, Wen Shu held Luo Fei’s hand, "There’s really something important going on."
She looked at Wu Xuan, seeing his lonely expression, whispered beside his ear, "Don’t you think Yining is a bit strange?"
Wu Xuan froze for a moment, successfully diverted, "He is a bit..."
Hearing them murmuring behind his back, Luo Fei stood behind Wen Shu, slightly bent, enclosing her within his embrace, saying softly, "What are you guys talking about?"
The warm breath brushed past her ears, Wen Shu giggled while covering her ears, grabbing his collar to lower him a bit.
"You’ll know if you come along."
When the blessing completely ended, the sun had already risen halfway.
The warm light illuminated the departing Beastmen, casting long shadows.
Yining’s carriage was still waiting at the entrance to the Holy Land.
Wen Shu and her friends had just stepped out when they saw the beautiful moose, and beside it, Yining who had changed into light-colored casual clothes.
Standing tall, he remained silently in place, chin slightly raised, his previously cool demeanor now supplemented with a calm expansiveness.
Wen Shu was unsure whether to interrupt him, hesitantly opening her mouth, "Yining..."
Upon hearing her voice, Yining’s eyes brightened as he strode before her.
He nodded in greeting to Wu Xuan and Luo Fei, then unwaveringly focused on Wen Shu, taking her hand, "Let’s get in the carriage."
His actions were too natural, Wen Shu only realized the peculiarity after taking two steps.
The males behind her frowned even tighter.
Luo Fei reached out to snatch her, but anxious footsteps sounded from behind, "Ashu! Wait!"
Upon hearing the familiar voice, Wen Shu tightened her hand, turned her head to look at the newcomer.
Mious had changed clothes at some point; his fabric robe was dull and lifeless, contrasting greatly with the luxurious, intricate robe from last night, making people feel a pang of guilt.
He ran a few steps and stood side by side with Wen Shu, his eyes slightly red, lips curving into a smile, "Ashu, I’ve returned."
Meeting his gaze for a moment, Wen Shu’s pupils lightly trembled, complicated emotions filling her chest in an instant.
Her hand still held by Yining, she withdrew without expression, suppressing her emotions, quietly asking, "Can they come along?"
Noticing Wen Shu’s wariness, Yining replied with a smile, "Of course."
Inside the not-so-spacious carriage, it was full.
Wen Shu sat in the center, with Wu Xuan on her left, Luo Fei on her right, while Yining and Mious sat opposite.
The moose’s back wobbled, making the carriage hangings and scattered jewels constantly clatter.
Wen Shu felt a little impatient, but before she could speak, Yining pulled out the Divine Tree Leaves from his pocket.
"Ashu, merge with your part," he opened his palm, handing the leaves to Wen Shu, indicating to the males beside her, "If you want to understand, you can hold Ashu’s hand."
Upon hearing this, the males exchanged glances, then decisively grabbed Wen Shu’s arm after she took out the Divine Tree Leaves from her pocket.
As if conducting some mysterious ceremony.
Wen Shu tightly held with her left hand, holding a branch glimmering with dazzling light in her right, approaching the Divine Tree Leaves in her left palm.
This time, from a distance of a forearm, the leaves in her right hand eagerly transformed into golden light, darting into her left palm.
In an instant, the surging golden light spread from her arm throughout her body, swiftly engulfing the forms of the Beastmen inside the carriage.
"Roar—"
A distant beast-like bellow vaguely reached her ears.
"Wake up, wake up quickly!"
Who is calling her?
Wen Shu slowly opened her eyes, and immediately saw a familiar face, one she could only see in dreams!
Ye Lin!
She excitedly opened her mouth but found herself unable to speak, unable even to move!
"If we don’t leave now, the enemy will catch up."
The woman, with clean and delicate features, dressed in a neat black bodysuit, flicking her hands sent several Wind Blades slicing through obstructive vegetation.
"The Divine Tree Leaves are ready, you are sure that as long as I awaken the Beast God, I can return, right?"
Alin’s cold warning, "I have a very important friend who still needs me, if you dare to deceive, don’t blame me for being ruthless."
Wen Shu’s nose tingled, wasn’t Alin supposed to perish with the horde, but instead came to the Beast World Continent?
Her gaze couldn’t move; she could only hear another elderly voice calmly speaking, "Indeed, cough cough, the Mermaid Clan never breaks its word..."
They headed straight into the dense forest, moving deeper, Wen Shu recognized the realm before her.
The encircling trees and towering crowns.
Here, this was the Holy Land.
