Chapter 180: Chapter 180: The High Priest’s Blessing
"Get out of the way!"
Mious gave a cold, stern look, grabbed Luo Fei’s arm, and forcefully flung him aside!
But Luo Fei was no pushover. He countered smoothly, using Mious’s momentum to pull him a few meters away, throwing him toward the giant forest, "You lost the female, and you still dare to come looking, uh—"
A thick snake tail shot out instantly, wrapping around Luo Fei’s arm. The two of them crashed into a tree trunk together, creating a deep pit.
In the quiet outskirts of the Holy Land, there was a loud "bang," and massive green leaves fell, instantly attracting the surrounding Beastmen who were kneeling and praying.
The Silver Armor Guards, responsible for maintaining order, also noticed the commotion and gathered around.
"Stop! Fighting is forbidden in the Holy Land!"
However, their attempts to dissuade were futile, and even when they stepped in to intervene, their lack of strength almost got them pulled into the center of the fight.
The sound of the scuffle was unceasing.
Wen Shu took a deep breath, feeling frustrated with her emotional outburst.
She calmly stood up, seeing a circle of people standing on the outskirts of the dense forest watching the fight between the two, occasionally gasping in amazement. Several lines of black appeared on her forehead.
"Please make way."
Wen Shu followed behind Wu Xuan, squeezed through the males, and upon looking up, saw a giant tree swaying, about to fall into the inner circle.
Yet the two who were seeing red were completely oblivious!
Even Luo Fei was, but had Mious gone mad too?
"Wu Xuan."
She glanced at the giant tree, Wu Xuan swiftly moved to hold up the falling giant tree, dragging it to the outskirts.
Meanwhile, Wen Shu stepped into the eye of the storm, first pressing down on Luo Fei’s hand, and seeing Mious still about to attack, she grabbed him, "Enough, stop fighting! This is the Holy Land!"
Feeling the warmth on the back of his hand, a surge of bitterness flowed into the nearly frozen heart of Mious,
He retracted his long tail, held Wen Shu’s hand in return, and looked at her seriously, "Ashu, I didn’t, I haven’t become the City Lord, wearing these clothes..."
Seeing them holding hands, Luo Feihong squinted his red eyes.
No matter who he was, as long as he diverted attention from the female, he could naturally get rid of one.
"Hiss— it hurts so much!"
Wen Shu was about to withdraw her hand when a heavy body suddenly pressed on her shoulder; she couldn’t support it and hurriedly turned to hold Luo Fei.
"I’m injured,"
Luo Fei’s entire head rested on Wen Shu’s hair, raising his bruised arm to sway in front of her, "Please blow on it for me."
Obviously pretending to be pitiful for the first time, his voice was raw, his expression like he’d swallowed bitter medicine, extremely uncomfortable, yet he insisted on performing.
With no exciting fight to watch, the Beastmen dispersed in a clamor, returning to the bonfire to pray to the skies above the Holy Land.
Facing Luo Fei’s face, Wen Shu honestly couldn’t bear to look.
This path isn’t for just anyone to walk...
She raised her hand to heal him, Mious frowned tightly, couldn’t bear it any longer, and pushed Luo Fei away, "Ashu, listen to me, I came to find you as the City Lord to attend the ceremony..."
Calm now, without needing his explanation, Wen Shu could already piece together the rough sequence of events.
But as she looked at Mious, seeing his face full of anxiety, she couldn’t quite grasp the complex emotions in her heart.
The fact that he chose Beast City over her and its safety was undeniable.
Mious was a responsible and good City Lord; she could understand. Were the roles reversed, she might have made the same decision.
But perhaps it’s just the sentiment; she didn’t want to discuss these matters, at least not now...
Feelings are truly troublesome.
"I understand it all."
Wen Shu interrupted Mious, seeing Wu Xuan return, took his arm, and also pulled the pretending Luo Fei.
"Let’s go sit for a while, or..."
Her brow arched reminiscing about something, looking towards the inner side of the Holy Land.
The gentle light of the Divine Tree was slowly moving from the inner side of the Holy Land towards the outskirts.
She pointed to the light source, reminding, "You came here representing Beast City, shouldn’t you bring the blessing ritual back to them?"
Though her voice was gentle, it hid a few hints of detachment.
Mious’s breath stilled, about to argue when suddenly a figure rushed from the inner side of the Holy Land, "Lord City, quickly come, all the Beast City representatives are waiting for you!"
His face went pale for an instant, turning back guiltily, "Ashu, I..."
"Business is important, go quickly."
Wen Shu expressed understanding, but since Mious did not move, she had to pull Wu Xuan and Luo Fei to leave first.
After walking a few steps, Wu Xuan’s deep concern sounded above her, "Ashu, are you okay?"
"Hmm?"
Wen Shu tilted her head, met his trembling golden eyes for a moment, the suppressed sourness began to seep out again.
"Don’t look at me like that."
She lowered her gaze, her thoughts wandering, suddenly laughed a little, "I kind of understand now."
The half-finished sentence piqued Luo Fei’s curiosity, "Understand what?"
"Understand... why every long-distance relationship my roommates had ended in breakup."
As she spoke, Wu Xuan and Luo Fei were stunned, just grasping the mention of "breakup."
Luo Fei, realizing what she meant, showed undisguised joy, "Really! You’re done with him?"
Wu Xuan was more curious about the other words, "Ashu, what do you mean by roommate and long-distance relationship?"
The two had drastically different reactions, drawing Wen Shu’s attention away, easing her mood considerably, laughing softly, "Roommates are close friends who live in the same bedroom..."
Wu Xuan laughed with her, "Then are we roommates?"
Luo Fei bristled, red eyes staring at Wen Shu, "What do you mean you’ve shared a room with others before?"
Wen Shu couldn’t hold it in, burst out laughing, looking at the doe-eyed Wu Xuan, then at Luo Fei, who was irrationally jealous.
"Luo Fei, are you a jar of jealousy?"
"What’s a jar of jealousy?"
...
Walking between the two tall males, Wen Shu was amused to the point of tears, resting weakly against Wu Xuan’s chest, covering her mouth and laughing at the other male.
The scene, in the glow of the firelight, appeared warm and sweet.
But to Mious, it was as if an iron awl pierced through his heart, leaving a gaping, drafty hole.
The male beside him, seeing how Mious’s stern eyes filled with gloom and the air pressure around him growing lower, timidly shrank his neck, "Sir, did I come at a bad time?"
Mious came back to his senses, seeing the male trying to retract his head into his chest, his long, straight black lashes veiled the sorrow in his eyes as he walked heavily toward the Holy Land.
"Bring the blessing ritual back to Beast City yourself."
The blessing ceremony in the inner circle finally concluded at dawn.
When a completely white elk emerged slowly from the dense forest, carrying the newly appointed Divine Tree Priest, everyone held their breath uncontrollably.
"Is it, is it a divine descent..."
Someone murmured.
Wen Shu, who was resting, felt a nudge on her shoulder, also opened her eyes.
Seeing under the snow-colored moonlight stood a figure in a sacred silver-white robe, with light-colored hair also dyed silver, she silently held her breath.
Was that Yining?
As if sensing her gaze, the priest standing tall on the elk’s back gently lowered his long lashes, his fair and handsome face glowing with the cold light of the moon, like a deity lowering his eyes.
"Ashu."
He gazed towards Wen Shu from hundreds of people away, his calm, unperturbed eyes reflecting her bewildered face, silently curling the corners of his eyes.
