[Five Brains Seven Hearts fusion in progress. Current progress: 78%]

Right now, he had two hearts beating on each side of his chest. The other five were located in his arms, legs, and neck.

They were still small and immature, needing time to strengthen before they could function as proper heart engines.

As for his brains… he only had one extra so far, sitting in his abdomen. It couldn't think on its own yet, but it shared all memories and thoughts with the main brain.

If his main brain ever got destroyed, this backup brain would immediately take over — basically a spare power source.

"It's almost night. Anyone want to come hunt some Upper Ranks with me?" Ivan's tone was completely casual, like he was just asking what everyone wanted for dinner.

"What?" Sanemi stared at him, convinced he'd misheard.

"Don't they piss you off? I don't want them getting in the way when I fight Muzan." Ivan adjusted his clothes, clearly getting ready to head out.

"Mr. Greevs, if you move too early, won't it make Muzan even more furious and cause him to go completely insane? Maybe we should wait until the plan starts," Kyojuro tried to reason with him.

"Rengoku, listen to what you're saying. Do you really think he's going to stop just because we sit here doing nothing? Then where the hell do you think all these crows are coming from?"

Sanemi fully backed Ivan's idea. The rage inside him needed an outlet right now, or he was going to lose it.

"Besides Sanemi, anyone else want to come with me?" Ivan wasn't expecting them to actually help much — he just needed them to stall the Upper Ranks a little so he could kill more efficiently. He didn't want another repeat of the Hantengu situation, where he had to keep chasing after them. What a waste of time.

"Count me in." Gyomei Himejima stepped forward.

"Me too."

Obanai Iguro, who always seemed to appear on trees, stroked the smooth head of his white snake and jumped down.

"If you're all going, then I'm going too." Mitsuri raised her hand.

"In that case, I'm coming as well."

Kyojuro's voice rang out loud and clear.

...

In a small village near the coast, a few kids were playing around with a colorful vase, tossing it back and forth.

"Give it to me already!"

"No, you already played with it once!"

It was late at night. The children's parents stood at the door of their wooden house, waving for them to come inside and go to sleep.

"Jiro, you're in charge of keeping this vase safe. Tomorrow we'll try using it to raise some fish."

"That's actually a pretty good idea."

A sudden voice made one of the kids tilt his head in confusion. "Jiro, was that you just now?"

"That was you, Tanoshita."

When the other kids shook their heads, Tanoshita, who was holding the colorful vase, frowned. "Weird… the voice sounded like it came from inside the vase."

The moment he finished speaking, a cloud of black smoke suddenly poured out of the vase's opening.

"Demon! It's a demon!!" When the smoke condensed into a pale, horrifying demon with purple fish fins on its head, Tanoshita instinctively threw the vase away. "Run! Run—!"

"You wanted to use my vase to raise fish? I'll help you out."

Gyokko pulled out another vase decorated with waterweed patterns and slammed it down over Tanoshita's head. The next second, a bloated golden fish burst out of the vase's mouth. It opened its massive jaws and bit off half of Tanoshita's body in one bite.

The other kids — Jiro and the rest — were instantly scared out of their minds by the gruesome sight.

"Hee hee hee… Running now? A little late, don't you think? Your corpses will make excellent new art pieces for me."

Gyokko's body flowed like seawater, wrapping around the children. Tiny demonic arms grew out of his torso and brutally tore them apart before stuffing the pieces into one of his vases. "I don't know what the hell the boss is thinking, telling me to share my blood with ordinary humans. I'm not doing that shit. They're only fit to be my food."

"Go. Eat everything my eyes can see until there's nothing left!" A sick, ecstatic expression spread across Gyokko's face.

Soon, more vases with waterweed patterns appeared beneath him. They shook violently as golden fish swam out, mouths gaping, before charging into the village while still wearing the vases like helmets.

Screams and crying echoed from ahead as Gyokko waved his arms in pure bliss.

...

The scene shifted back to Ivan's side.

Guided by the Kasugai Crows, the group sprinted through the forest.

"Up ahead is where Gyokko was last spotted. Stay sharp," Kyojuro Rengoku said to the others while running behind Ivan.

"The smell of blood is really strong."

"It's coming from right in front of us."

Everyone had come except Shinobu Kocho.

"Fuck… how many people did that bastard kill?!" As the Wind Hashira, Sanemi Shinazugawa was extremely sensitive to the thick scent of blood mixed in the sea breeze. This level of stench couldn't possibly come from just one or two bodies.

But just as they were about to reach the village..

Gyokko seemed to sense something. He muttered to himself, "Hee hee hee… looks like several strong presences are heading this way. Is it those Demon Slayer idiots? Didn't expect the turtles to finally stick their heads out."

"Wind Breathing — First Form: Dust Whirlwind — Cutter!" A furious roar came from the forest.

The next second, a pillar of countless wind blades spun like a high-speed drill, tearing up the ground as it shot straight toward Gyokko.

"Oh? It's rare to see someone use Wind Breathing this well."

Faced with the raging wind, Gyokko casually pulled out a vase decorated with wave patterns. The next moment, water gushed out endlessly from the opening like a fountain, forming a protective water sphere around him.

The instant the wind blades hit the water wall, countless ripples spread across its surface.

But the wall was far tougher than Sanemi expected — it could freely shift between soft and hard.

No matter how fiercely the blades attacked, they couldn't cut through it. Soon, the wind blades were completely worn down.

"You're really rude, you know? Ambushing me like that. Is this how the Demon Slayer Corps operates?" Gyokko still hadn't realized how serious the situation was. One or two Hashira? He didn't even put them in his eyes.

"When dealing with scum like you, any method is fair game." Sanemi tightened his grip on his sword, ready to attack again.

"Wait… how many of you are actually here?"

Gyokko finally started feeling uneasy.

"Take a guess…"

Kyojuro Rengoku, Gyomei Himejima, Obanai Iguro… and Ivan slowly walked out of the forest.

Almost the entire Hashira team had shown up!

Gyokko froze on the spot.
