Chapter 37: Lost Weight

"Fight me, Daemon Langford."

Daemon’s eyes rose to meet hers, a grin pulling at the corners of his cheeks. "If that’s what you want, then I’ll gladly give it to you, my love."

Daemon took off his coat and then his shirt and threw it out of the ring, along with his wristwatch, rings and shoes. He threw away every piece of item that would hold him back, revealing his fit body that left not only Arianna, but every other person in the gym stunned.

With the body of a Greek God, it was obvious that Daemon worked out very often. He already had the face that looked like the gods took their time sculpting, and now the body that could attract both man and woman.

Tattoos stained his chest and arms, which Arianna never noticed because she’d only ever seen him clothed, until now.

She forced her saliva down her throat, hydrating her throat.

"Eyes up here, my love," Daemon called up, making her realize that she’d been caught.

He grinned at her.

’Finally, the workout paid off,’ he thought, delighted by her reaction to seeing him half naked.

With gnashed teeth, Arianna charged at him. She wasn’t going to let herself get distracted by his body.

He was still an enemy and their union was merely a contractual agreement.

Arianna threw punches at Daemon, kicks and elbows at Daemon, but he dodged every single one so easily that it pissed her off.

"You’ll need to be faster than that, malyshka," he taunted.

Arianna narrowed her eyes at him. He was trying to piss her off, and he was working.

Her body was starting to give up slowly, exhaustion overtaking her, but she wanted to bring him down first before she collapsed.

"You fucker!" She cursed, charging at him with full speed now.

Everyone watched in awe as Daemon Langford countered the attack of the woman he was sparring with.

Arianna managed to land a few hits here and there even while he tried to counter them. But not once did he hit her back. She was the only one hitting him.

Even Josephine had to get go of her chokehold on Frederick to watch the fight, which made Frederick sigh in relief.

Slowly, removed herself from between her legs and tried to snake away, but a grip to his hair made him pause instantly.

"Where do you think you’re going?" She questioned, without looking away from the ring Arianna and Daemon were on, fighting.

"I thought—"

"You thought what?" She snapped, her gaze finally meeting him.

She had similar blue eyes just like Arianna, but hers were paler and more sharper. But they looked beautiful nonetheless.

He forced himself to gulp his saliva before deciding to stay still. At least then, she wouldn’t hit him anymore.

Back at where Arianna and Daemon were, Daemon frowned deeply when he noticed Arianna was forcing herself to move now.

She’d lost all her strength.

"You need to stop, my love. You’re exhausted."

She paid him deaf ears and continued swinging.

Left with no choice, he caught her hand and pulled her close to him until her face was on his chest.

She glared at him. "Let me go."

"I won’t," he replied firmly. "You need to rest. We can do this another day."

Arianna tried to free herself from him, but he wouldn’t let her. He held her tightly and yet so firmly.

She continued to glare at him, but unfortunately for her, she couldn’t keep it up before her lashes closed.

Daemon felt her go limp in his arms.

He released a sigh, but it was the time to feel relieved.

There was something extremely wrong with her, especially with the massive weight loss.

He could feel her ribs just from holding her. Her cheeks were more sunken than before.

They’d met at the anniversary of the Griffins, and he didn’t even notice her fading features.

Unless....

Unless she’d covered them up with makeup.

His eyebrows drew together in worry as he lifted her in his arms and marched out of the ring.

"Where are you taking my sister?" Josephine demanded as she tried to get off the ring but Frederick held her back.

"Just let him take her."

"Get off me!" She yelled, trying to release herself from his hold on her.

But Frederick didn’t budge.

Josephine didn’t have any time to waste. For all she knew, Arianna was probably getting kidnapped by that man.

Josephine jabbed her elbow into Frederick’s rib, causing him to let go of her immediately and tend to his own needs.

He grunted in pain as he fell.

Josephine quickly got off, but it was already too late. Daemon wasn’t around anymore.

Shit!"

A few hours later...

Arianna heard a distant voice talking over her. She couldn’t make out who owned those voices, but she could feel that they were right next to her.

Fluttering her eyes open, Arianna found herself in an unfamiliar room. The walls were grey, so were the ceiling but with a dash of gold that made it look like she was in a palace bedroom. And the space, it was enormous enough to consider it a living room.

She scanned around until she found the sources of those voices, and that was when she found them.

Daemon was talking to a men she’d seen before.

He was the doctor from the hospital after she’d woken up from her coma.

Arianna tried to sit up, but she quickly grabbed her head. It ached so terribly as if they were about to fall off.

She winced as she tried to contain the pain.

"You’re awake," Daemon said right before he closed the distance between them in five long strides. "How are you feeling?"

She looked up at him, confusion marring her expression.

"Where am I?"

"You’re in my house."

Arianna’s lips tightened but she would say everything in her mind once the doctor was away.

"Arianna, you really need to take care of your body. You’ve lost a lot of weight, and your blood pressure is high. Try not to worry too much else this might escalate. I’ll be leaving your prescription with Daemon. And please, take care of yourself."

Arianna responded with a smile. "Thank you, doctor."

Once he was out the door, Arianna’s eyes snapped to Daemon.

"Why did you bring me to your house?"
