Chapter 1312: Chapter 672: Mo Han & Wanwan Arc – Are You Still Going to Marry Ning Yan’er?
Ning Wan had actually already noticed Ning Yan’er, and naturally also noticed the rage and hatred in Ning Yan’er’s eyes as she stared at her. In fact, the reason she was holding onto Xi Mohan’s arm was precisely because she’d noticed Ning Yan’er.
At first she thought Xi Mohan would be repulsed and throw her down, but he didn’t, and he even looked completely normal.
That instantly killed Ning Wan’s mood a bit, and she was about to let go of the hand hooked around the man’s neck, but Xi Mohan’s arm tightened slightly around her, scaring her into clutching his neck even tighter.
At this moment Ning Yan’er felt her rationality slipping away bit by bit. Looking at Ning Wan in the man’s arms, her eyes were filled with hatred, but the instant the man’s gaze fell on her, the hate in her eyes vanished without a trace.
She quickly stepped forward and walked up to Xi Mohan. Ning Yan’er tugged at the corner of her lips, forcing out a somewhat stiff smile, and asked gently, "Mo Han, where are you and Wanwan coming back from? Wanwan disappeared from the hospital yesterday and didn’t come home all night. We were all so worried, we thought something had happened to her..."
Hearing Ning Yan’er call her "Wanwan," Ning Wan’s brows knit together on the spot, just short of letting out a cold laugh.
Wanwan?
Calling her so affectionately, meanwhile probably thinking about how to tear her into pieces inside.
There wasn’t much change on Xi Mohan’s face, but he still gave an explanation. His gaze fell lightly on Ning Yan’er’s little face as he spoke faintly, "Her foot was injured yesterday. I took her back and had someone else take care of her, so that her injury wouldn’t get worse and keep her from dealing with Mr. and Mrs. Ning’s situation. I’ll take her upstairs first."
The explanation was perfectly reasonable; there was absolutely nothing to nitpick.
When she heard Xi Mohan say he was going to carry Ning Wan upstairs, Ning Yan’er’s expression changed at once. She hurried forward to block Xi Mohan’s path, anxiously saying, "Mo Han, let the servants take her up. It doesn’t seem very appropriate for you to send her up yourself."
Right now she had turned Ning Wan’s room into that mess; if Xi Mohan saw it, that would never do.
The most important thing for her now was to stop him from going up.
Xi Mohan’s gaze landed on Ning Wan’s face but quickly moved away. Then he spoke lightly to the Ning Yan’er in front of him, spitting out two words, "No need."
With that, he carried Ning Wan and headed toward the second floor.
Ning Yan’er’s body stiffened on the spot, as if she had fallen into endless darkness. By the time she came back to herself, she was already lifting her skirt, about to run after them.
Ning Zezhen and his wife’s faces had long turned ugly, especially Ning Zezhen—his face was practically black.
Seeing his daughter about to run after them, he called out to her with a gloomy face, "Yan’er, stop."
Ning Yan’er halted and turned her head toward her father, then walked straight up to stand before Ning Zezhen, lowering her voice as she anxiously said, "Dad, we can’t let Mo Han go into Ning Wan’s room... at least not right now."
Seeing his daughter’s reaction, Ning Zezhen frowned slightly; he could tell something was off with her. Fixing his gaze on her, he asked, "Yan’er, did you do something?"
Ning Yan’er bit down on her lower lip with her white teeth and honestly told Ning Zezhen what she had done in Ning Wan’s room.
As soon as Ning Zezhen heard, his face darkened immediately, anger written all over it. "Outrageous. If your grandfather finds out what you’ve done, how are you going to explain yourself?"
Ning Yan’er said, "Dad, this isn’t the time to talk about that. We can’t let Mo Han go up..."
Ning Zezhen looked at his daughter with bitter disappointment. Usually, when she and that little girl Ning Wan couldn’t stand each other and did things to annoy one another, he had already been turning a blind eye. But now, at such a critical moment, his daughter had actually gone this far, basically destroying all of the girl’s things. How could he possibly not be angry?
He was furious, and if his own father found out later, who knew what the consequences would be.
He glanced sideways at the figure almost at the second floor, then directly took his phone out of his pocket and quickly dialed a number.
...
Ning Wan was in Xi Mohan’s arms, still very quiet. It wasn’t until they were almost at the second floor that she finally spoke. "Xi Mohan, do you like Ning Yan’er?"
The man stopped in his tracks and lowered his head to look at her. His thin lips pressed together, but he didn’t answer. Very soon he resumed his normal pace and kept walking.
Not hearing his answer, Ning Wan didn’t really mind. The arms she had wrapped around his neck didn’t dare loosen, afraid she’d fall in the next moment.
After a few seconds of silence, she spoke again. "If you like Ning Yan’er, you can actually tell me. Even though I don’t like Ning Yan’er either... could you promise me something? While I’m by your side, could you not be with Ning Yan’er?"
She really didn’t like Ning Yan’er at all.
The man’s eyes darkened, and this time he stopped completely. He lowered his head to look at her and said, "Ning Wan, what if you stay with me for several years? Am I never supposed to get married and have children in the future?"
Ning Wan’s face changed, and she finally lifted her eyes to look at him. "But all I’m asking is that you not be with Ning Yan’er..."
She paused there, as if suddenly realizing something. The color drained from her palm-sized face. "Xi Mohan, are you planning to marry Ning Yan’er in the future?"
Before the man could answer, Ning Wan went on, "Then why exactly do you want me to be your lover? No matter if it’s her looks or her temperament, Ning Yan’er is better than me. And now that my parents are gone, any man would choose her. Do you really just think I’m pitiful, so you made that decision? If that’s really the case, you don’t have to do that."
Her emotions seemed like they were being forcibly suppressed, her voice carrying a trace of agitation.
The man’s expression grew obscure, his gaze gloomy as he stared at her. When she first mentioned him marrying Ning Yan’er in the future, he’d actually been planning to explain. But after hearing what she said afterward, he’d completely lost the desire to explain. He spoke coldly, spitting out three words, "Say what you like."
With that, he carried her onward, and only when they reached the second floor did he ask, "Which one is your room?"
Ning Wan said nothing, not wanting to respond to him at all.
This man was truly infuriating, not likable in the least.
She was never going to like him again.
