Chapter 1311: Chapter 671: Mo Han & Wanwan Arc - The Urge to Tear Ning Wan to Pieces
Her parents have always had very good character, even their personalities were easygoing and easy to get along with. She knew they had many friends with good relationships, and couldn’t think of any enemies they might have.
Thinking like this, Ning Wan couldn’t figure out who it could be.
After about a minute of silence, she suddenly looked up at Xi Mohan and asked, "Is it the rival company of Xi Group?"
Xi Mohan looked at her expression, lightly pursed his thin lips and said flatly, "No."
The light in Ning Wan’s eyes instantly dimmed.
If it wasn’t someone from a rival company of Xi Group, she really couldn’t come up with who did it.
Initially, she really thought her parents died accidentally, but now she realized that it was all just her assumption; she only recently found out her parents were murdered.
Thinking of this, a strong hatred began to emerge from the bottom of Ning Wan’s heart, growing more and more intense.
Xi Mohan began to notice her change in expression, his face tensed, and quickly reacted by walking over to bend down and pick her up, "I’ll take you back first; I haven’t yet figured out who’s behind this, I’ll tell you once I find out."
Ning Wan was startled when Xi Mohan picked her up, but she didn’t say a word. Her small face showed almost no expression, remaining silent.
Xi Mohan didn’t mind her silence, after all, Ning Wan’s parents had just passed away, he couldn’t expect her to greet him with a smile.
He carried her to the passenger seat of the car, helped her buckle the seatbelt, then leaned one hand on the seatback and the other on the door. His deep eyes looked at her petite face, and he said, "Ning Wan, once your parents’ affairs are handled, move out of the Ning Family Mansion."
Hearing Xi Mohan’s words, Ning Wan seemed to come back to her senses belatedly, looking at the man in puzzlement, "Why do I need to move out of the Ning Family Manor? Where would I live after moving out?"
The man remained impassive, speaking indifferently, "I will arrange a place for you once you move out, don’t forget the promise you made to me."
Suddenly recalling she agreed last night to be his lover, Ning Wan’s expression changed slightly, and her gaze towards the man now contained some unnamed emotions.
After half a minute of silence, she laughed, "Xi Mohan, I didn’t know you had such a peculiar taste, not only am I underage, but I was someone you loathed."
"Ning Wan, provoking me won’t work."
"Of course, I know provoking you won’t work, I’m just stating a fact."
If provoking him worked, she wouldn’t have spent so many years working hard and yet still unable to secure even a bit of his favor.
Now, the words and decisions Xi Mohan made about her only made her think... this man actually pitied her.
Xi Mohan straightened up, withdrawing his hand, speaking coldly, "As you said, I do have peculiar tastes, and you have no other choice but to comply."
As soon as he finished speaking, Ning Wan raised her eyes to look at him, "I will not move out of the Ning Family Manor."
The man raised his hand to touch her long hair, letting out a cold laugh, "Ning Wan, you don’t have a choice. If you still want to know the truth about your parents’ accident, if you want to avenge them, you can only rely on me."
His words clearly transmitted into the girl’s ears, her previously calm face suddenly showing cracks, her pretty eyes widened as she stared at the man.
Her hand unknowingly clenched into a fist, a terribly frightening thought emerged from her heart, her mouth was quicker than her brain, she heard herself blurt out, "Xi Mohan, do you know who the murderer is?"
Initially, when he saw her silence, he thought she had compromised. Just as he was about to close the car door, he unexpectedly heard her words, and his movements paused suddenly.
"Just speculation."
"Then tell me who it is."
After thinking for a while, he still replied flatly, "It’s just speculation, not confirmed yet. I won’t tell you; if I’m wrong and you get impatient and cause trouble, what if they come to me?"
Ning Wan instantly went silent; actually, even if it was just a guess, she wanted to know who was suspicious.
...
When Ning Wan returned to the Ning Family Manor, Mr. Ning had already handled her parents’ arrangements, just short of holding the funeral.
In the living room of the Ning Family Manor, Ning Yan’er sat with her parents, while Mr. Ning was resting in the room upstairs due to lack of sleep.
Xi Mohan carried Ning Wan the whole way inside because Ning Wan’s foot was injured and she couldn’t walk. If she wanted to move, she could only use a wheelchair; otherwise, placing that injured foot on the ground would worsen her condition.
"Mr. Xi... Second Miss, what’s wrong with you?"
Ning Yan’er was sitting with her parents, and suddenly hearing the housekeeper’s voice, she quickly turned to look toward the door, before her eyes widened in shock, dropping the cup she held onto the floor with a crisp sound.
Ning Zezhen, who had been talking to his wife, furrowed his brow at the piercing sound. Seeing Ning Yan’er, he was about to ask something but saw the scene, his old face showing some displeasure.
Xi Mohan continued to hold Ning Wan in a princess-carry style; from entering the Ning Family Mansion, Ning Wan appeared very well-behaved, her fair hand clutching the man’s arm, looking incredibly close.
It was no wonder Ning Yan’er reacted so dramatically; she now had the urge to tear Ning Wan apart.
When Xi Mohan walked in holding Ning Wan, he naturally saw Ning Zezhen, Ning Yan’er, and Ning’s mother in the living room. Without changing his expression, he lowered his head to look at Ning Wan in his arms and asked, "Where is your room?"
The man’s tone carried a slight raspiness, not gentle, but normal.
