Chapter 1079: Chapter 1019: The Missing Fiancee
Sienna Johnson shifted her body to face Noah Phillips directly and asked with a serious expression, "Noah, do you know who I am?"
"Baby!"
Sienna shook her head, reminding Noah of who she was at this moment. "I’m not your baby anymore! I’m Sienna Johnson, Adrian Desmond’s wife, Curly and Sheehan’s mother, President Johnson of Eastminster Group!"
She had many identities, but the one thing she no longer was, was Noah’s "baby."
"I believe you did love me once."
Noah reached out, wanting to touch Sienna’s face. Sienna took a step back and avoided him.
"I don’t deny I used to like you, and I did think about marrying you. But the fate between us just wasn’t enough, so in the end we didn’t end up together.
I have Adrian now, and you had Hilda Potter.
The two of us are like two parallel lines that will never intersect."
Noah kept a faint smile on his face; it was Sienna instead who seemed restless and on edge.
"Noah, women all need coaxing. Go back, coax her properly, talk things out, and it’ll be fine. I don’t believe Hilda is an unreasonable person."
"If I loved her, I wouldn’t mind lowering myself to coax her... Unfortunately, I don’t have feelings for her."
Sienna was a little angry. "You actually don’t love her, so why did you get engaged to her?"
"Now I regret it!"
"Noah, the two of us are impossible. Don’t waste your time.
You two are already engaged. Just try getting along with her, see how it goes. I believe every woman has her own charm; Hilda must have hers..."
"How much do you love Adrian?" Noah suddenly asked.
"Mom!" Curly ran over, hugged her mother’s waist, and stared at Noah.
Noah reached out and rubbed her little bald head, smiling as he said, "Where did your hair run off to?"
"Mom, I want to go home."
"Curly, Uncle will treat you to a hamburger, okay?"
"Mom says that’s junk food, she won’t let me eat it."
Sally pushed Sheehan back over. Sienna glanced at her son in the stroller. Sheehan looked unhappy, lips pressed together, about to cry. Sienna picked him up into her arms and soothed him, and only then did he not start crying.
"It’s getting late, I’m heading back first."
"Hilda hit you last time. I’ll apologize on her behalf. Let me treat you to a meal, just think of it as me making it up to you." Noah blocked Sienna’s path, his gaze pressing in on her a bit.
Sienna also stared at Adrian’s face. Noah had always been a very gentle man; Sienna felt very comfortable when she was with him, like lying lazily on a deck chair in the early autumn afternoon, listening to the wind rustle through bamboo leaves, listening to the chime of wind bells under the eaves.
But the man in front of her could no longer give her that feeling. This man made her think of Adrian—overbearing, seizing, conquering.
"Noah, you’ve changed so much I almost don’t recognize you." There was a trace of sadness in her voice.
"I’m still me." He looked at her, always smiling, only now the emotions in his eyes were no longer hidden.
"Thank you for the invitation, but my son needs to sleep, so I can’t go eat with you. You don’t need to apologize to me; I’m not angry.
As a woman, I understand how she feels.
I only hope you can explain things clearly to her and not let her misunderstand."
"Hilda didn’t misunderstand. I’m in love with you!"
"..."
"Sienna, I can barely hold this feeling back anymore!" Noah clutched his chest, gazing at Sienna with deep affection.
With a man daring to flirt with Sienna right under her nose, Sally felt that if she didn’t do something now and Adrian ever found out, she’d be done for.
"Madam, Sixth Master sent you something over from Abyanabad. We should head back now. Just in time for you to send him the clothes you bought for him." Sally cut into their conversation, trying to take Sienna away.
Sienna nodded, holding Sheehan in her arms, while Sally took Curly by the hand, and the few of them left.
Noah didn’t go after her. He just stood there, his gaze fixed on Sienna’s graceful back.
...
At night, after Sienna finished applying her skincare, she looked at the lotus flowers on the dressing table. In this season, the lotuses in Sileria City had long withered, yet the lotuses at Desmond Manor in Abyanabad were still in full bloom.
Every few days, Adrian had people airlift lotuses to her from Abyanabad.
"Such extravagant romance."
She leaned in and gently inhaled the lotus fragrance, imagining what Adrian might be doing at this moment.
Her phone suddenly rang. Sienna thought it was Adrian calling, joy filling her heart, but when she opened it, she saw it was a photo.
In the photo, a little girl was lying in Adrian’s arms; the young Adrian had tears shimmering in his eyes.
"Laura again?"
This time, Sienna didn’t delete the photo like before but saved it instead.
Sienna called back, but the system prompted that the number was invalid.
The wind rattled the window, making a sound like someone had come in. Sienna suddenly felt afraid.
Creepy photos, a nonexistent number...
Sienna got up and went to close the window.
After Adrian returned to Abyanabad, Sienna had Sheehan sleep in her room. Curly also fussed to sleep with her, so the three of them—mother and children—slept in the same room.
Sheehan slept in his crib, while Curly shared the big bed with her.
Even though Adrian was back in Abyanabad, with the children keeping her company, Sienna still slept soundly every night.
The little guy’s crib was right beside her big bed. He was sleeping soundly at the moment, arms raised above his head. Seeing her son’s sleeping face, the fear in Sienna’s heart finally melted away.
"Sheehan, grow up quickly." Her hand gently stroked his soft, smooth cheek. Sheehan opened his eyes, saw that it was his mother, snorted through his nose, and went back to sleep.
"Little rascal." Sienna tucked his small blanket over him and planted a kiss on his cheek.
...
Abyanabad, Desmond Manor.
Hilda Potter had gone missing.
The Potter Family reported it to the police. The police investigated for many days but found nothing. The time of her disappearance happened to be on the 9th.
The police even went to Sienna and asked about what happened that day, but still found no leads.
Relatives, classmates, friends... everyone they could think of had been questioned, and no one had seen any trace of Hilda. It was as if Hilda had vanished from the face of the earth.
"Is she dead, or just missing?" Adrian asked.
"We don’t know!"
Paige Desmond walked in, saw Adrian, and called out, "Brother..."
"What are you doing here?"
"Brother, I have something to tell you."
Adrian looked at his sister, saw the serious expression on her face and the faint worry between her brows, and asked, "What is it?"
"Did Kiya revoke your Arms Trade License?"
"Yeah."
"Is that true?"
"It is."
Paige was both disappointed and furious. "After all these years as husband and wife, and you’re his own brother—how could he do this to you?"
