Chapter 1039: Chapter 986: The Making of a Superman Dad (Part 1)
Ivy Kindergarten,
Sienna Johnson and Adrian Desmond were wearing matching tracksuits, looking like big celebrities had arrived; it was impossible to keep a low profile even if they wanted to.
"Mom, look, they’re all looking at us." Curly said excitedly.
Sienna glanced around and indeed found that they were attracting a lot of attention.
"Curly, keep it low-key!" Sienna warned.
"Mom, I’m wearing a hat, that’s already low-key enough." As she spoke, she pressed her little yellow cap down even lower.
"President Johnson, what are you doing here?"
A man came over to strike up a conversation. Sienna didn’t know him, but still replied politely, "I’m here to attend my daughter’s sports day."
The man asked in surprise, "President Johnson’s daughter is also studying at a Public Kindergarten?"
"Yeah."
Sienna was very serious about protecting Curly; no one knew that Curly was the daughter of the Big Boss of Eastminster Group.
Because Curly was graduating this year, Sienna had only now allowed Curly’s identity to be revealed.
"President Johnson is really low-key. These days rich people all send their kids to bilingual schools."
"Ivy Kindergarten may be a Public Kindergarten, but the teaching quality is quite good."
"Mom, hurry up, everyone’s already gone in." Curly grabbed her mom with one hand and her dad with the other, heading inside.
Sienna gave the man a little nod, and the family of three walked in.
...
The kindergarten playground,
The kindergarten’s playground was a scaled-down version; a standard track is 400 meters a lap, but the kindergarten’s track was 200 meters.
Sienna and Adrian sat in the stands, waiting for Curly’s class to march in.
The weather was nice today: bright sun, a gentle breeze. Sienna had a baseball cap and sunglasses on as she searched the playground for her daughter’s figure.
Sienna sighed, "At least tomorrow we finally don’t have to get up early."
"Isn’t a bit of running good? From now on, every morning at six, you come jogging with me."
Sienna leaned close to Adrian’s ear and lowered her voice, saying, "Morning jog is fine, but then you cancel the nighttime bed exercises for me."
Adrian gave a small cough and said, "You’d better sleep a bit more. Lack of sleep is bad for a woman’s skin."
"Hmph!"
The song "Three Main Rules and Eight Points of Attention" started playing over the playground. For a child who’d grown up in Orienta, this music couldn’t be more familiar.
The kids from each class, dressed in their uniforms and holding colorful flags, formed two columns and entered the field one after another. The order of entry was Grape Class, Peach Class, Pineapple Class, and Mango Class. Curly’s class was Peach Class.
"How did they come up with a name like that?" Sienna said, amused.
"Kids don’t think the same way we do."
The opening ceremony officially began. Sienna took out the camcorder to record her daughter, preserving these precious memories to show her when she grew up.
"Now coming in are the children of Kindergarten Senior Class One. Kindergarten Senior Class One is a united, energetic team. Under the teachers’ devoted care, they are growing up healthy and strong, full of fighting spirit..."
Curly waved her arms at her parents from within the formation.
"Go Curly!"
When they walked past the podium, Curly’s class shouted their slogan: "I love sports, I grow up happy; I love sports, I’m even healthier."
This was the first time this foreigner Adrian had attended a school sports day in Orienta. He asked curiously, "Are your sports days in Orienta always this complicated?"
Athletes’ entrance, national anthem, flag-raising, speech by a parent representative, speech by an athlete representative, speech by the Principal announcing the sports day open, athletes withdrawing from the field.
"What are sports days like in Abyanabad?"
"I never went to school."
"Oh, I forgot."
"Do you love me or not? Why can’t you ever remember my stuff?" Adrian complained.
"Sorry, pregnancy makes you silly for three years, forgive me, okay?"
"Give me a kiss and I’ll forgive you."
Sienna glanced at Curly, who was standing in the middle of the field listening to the Principal’s speech, and said, "Sixth Master, watch your image, your daughter still has to survive in this kindergarten."
"We’ll make it up when we get home!"
"The competitions now begin!" the Principal announced loudly.
The ceremonial cannons sounded, and the sports day officially kicked off.
Adrian muttered sarcastically, "Finally. I thought the Principal was going to talk straight through to tomorrow morning."
"Dad, Mom, here, over here..."
Curly stood below the stands, waving at her parents. Adrian held Sienna’s hand and walked down toward her.
"Have the events started?" Sienna asked.
Curly clasped her hands behind her back and lectured, "Even though this is just a kindergarten sports day, you can’t treat it lightly in terms of attitude. You have to take it seriously.
Especially you, Mom!
You must correct your attitude! Fight hard and always strive to be number one." Most of Curly’s lines were lifted from the Principal’s speech just now. Being called out by name, Sienna nodded again and again.
"Mom, if we lose, we’ll get up at six every morning to run, and prepare for next year’s sports day." Curly threatened.
"Next year, won’t you already be in Primary School?"
"Then we’ll join the Primary School sports day."
"Parents aren’t allowed to take part in Primary School sports days."
"Primary Schools now are different from the ones in your day."
"Alright, alright, I got it."
Curly called George over and said, "George is our logistics. If you’re thirsty or need a towel to wipe your sweat or anything, go find George."
"..."
"George, do you have confidence in doing a good job with logistics?"
"Yes."
After finishing her lecture and giving them their pep talk, Curly announced that their family’s "Fight for First Place" campaign had officially begun.
George had a sheet of paper in his hand listing the events they were entering, along with the times and locations.
George said, "First event: tug-of-war. Each family’s dad participates."
Sienna patted Adrian’s arm and said, "Sixth Master, come on, you have to win."
"Mm."
Adrian was tall and strongly built, anchoring the back of the rope. There were ten people on each side. The referee fixed the red ribbon in the middle in place, blew the whistle, and the tug-of-war battle everyone was expecting just never happened.
The side Adrian was on simply dragged the other team straight across their line, and it took not even ten seconds.
The match was completely one-sided!
The surrounding area fell dead silent.
"Sixth Master, keep it low-key, low-key!" Sienna muttered.
"Dad, you’re amazing!" Curly cheered.
Adrian smiled at Curly. The tug-of-war was best of three. Adrian got ready for the second round.
"That’s my dad. The tallest, most handsome one is my dad... My dad’s super awesome, isn’t he?"
In the second round, maybe everyone had just given up. Adrian hadn’t even used much strength when the other side simply let go. Adrian lost his balance and fell to the ground.
"Peach Class wins!"
"Dad, you’re amazing!"
