Chapter 26: Working At Velvet
Stacey cleaned herself up, found some breath spray in her purse, and spritzed it into her mouth. Keith watched her.
"I don’t think that will work. Whoever you kiss next will definitely taste my dick on tongue." He raised an eyebrow. "Does your friend have a mouth like yours?"
Stacey looked at him, deadpan. "She’s not that kind of girl, Keith."
He raised his hands in surrender. "Alright, but I’ll interview just like everyone else. She needs to know what she’s walking into."
"Sure," she replied before walking out.
Downstairs, Cassie had started a conversation with a bartender. He was a guy with a nice smile and quick wit. Cassie was definitely entertained.
When Stacey arrived, she saw Cassie laughing with the bartender.
She walked over with a smile and looked the man directly in the eyes. "Not this one, Frank."
He looked between the two women, gave a short nod, and left.
Cassie turned to look at Stacey. "What was that about?"
"Little lamb, don’t get too close to everyone with a nice smile. Some people are wolves who are looking for a good meal."
Cassie opened her mouth, and in the end, she said nothing; she knew what Stacey meant. She looked back at Frank, who had walked to the other side of the bar and was chatting up someone else.
She wrinkled her nose. "Alright."
"Let’s go," Stacey said, seeing the warmth in her eyes fade. "We need to go see Keith. He’s willing to take you on."
They arrived upstairs, and Stacey stopped at the door. She knocked once and opened the door.
"I’ll be downstairs. When you come out, meet me at the bar."
Keith had seen the open door and heard what Stacey said. He had already taken care of the smell in the room. The office was still in its usual disarray. So when Cassie stepped in, she saw the clutter.
Cassie looked at Keith. This wasn’t the kind of man she was expecting. She was expecting someone who wore tons of gold chains and maybe had a fake tan.
Instead, he wore glasses, appeared to be in his late thirties, and seemed like an easy-going person. He sisn’t stand when Cassie came in, but she saw his eyes raking over her body.
He stopped, and his gaze became particularly fixed on the asset Cassie carried with her. He whistled low before turning his eyes up to meet Cassie.
"So, you’re Stacey’s friend."
She nodded. "Cassie Collins."
"Stacey told you to dress like this?" He used a pen to point at her outfit.
It was a black body suit that hugged her curves, which she wore with a pair of heels. She thought it was a bit much, but Stacey had guaranteed her it was fine.
Her ass was prominent, not that she could do much about that. Her breasts looked perky, and in the cool office her nipples started to harden and threatened to poke a hole in the fabric.
Not to mention her cunt. The lips were puffy. Keith could see them even as she tried to hide it.
Keither leaned back in his chair and studied her. His expression wasn’t cold. It was analytical.
"Stacey says you need this job. You have interviews and such. I told her it was fine, but that doesn’t mean I want someone who constantly skips work. So tell me, have you worked at a club before?"
"No."
"What experience do you have?"
Cassie paused, thinking of a response. "I worked at a diner before. So I did a bit of waitressing. Nothing much else."
His gaze was steady as he looked her up and down.
"A diner." HE pursed his lips. "Okay. I’m going to be honest with you. Stacey vouched for you. But I need to let you know this isn’t some diner. A breakfast rush of a few people isn’t the same as a rush of people in the club."
"We’re talking about more than a hundred and fifty people who come in here wanting something. Some are pre-gaming, some think they own the place after buying two bottles of vodka. Then there are the ones who are on whatever drug they could possibly find. All those people think that buying a drink means you buy the bottle girl that comes with it."
He held up a finger. "You will be grabbed. You will be propositioned. You will be offered tips that range from generous to insulting and some that might be deeply inappropriate. You’ll carry trays that weigh more than you do while wearing heels and stepping on floors sticky or wet with whatever customers inevitably spill. I expect you to work at least four nights per week. From nine pm to three am."
"You plaster on your best customer service smile, because if the customer isn’t happy, I’m not happy and if I’m not happy, you don’t get paid."
She listened with dawning horror that this job was neither easy nor something she would choose for herself. Yet, she thought about the job applications she had been sending. The responses that never materialized and the rent that needed to be paid.
As much as she wanted to say no, she could. She could only swallow her disapproval and nod. "Understood."
"Let’s hope so. I’ve seen too many girls feel like this job is easy and end up breaking down in my office over something a customer said." His eyes raked over her body once more. "I think going to the gym would benefit you. I’m not sure of your strength now, but it’s what I tell everyone."
Cassie nodded. Her strength was fine, but going to the gym wouldn’t be a bad thing.
He opened a drawer, took out a clipboard and a piece of paper.
"Sign this. Read it clearly. It includes your starting salary. There’s a tax form and an NDA. Tips range from two to three hundred a night. That’s the average; more or less depends on you."
"The bodysuit you’re wearing is fine if you want to be molested. Otherwise, I suggest something simple and a little looser. A black top with black shorts and heels is fine; a black dress is also the same. Make sure your hair is done, and your makeup is good. Special outfits are provided for special nights. But you don’t need to worry about that now."
"Make sure you’re ready for work on Friday. Stacey will train you."
Cassie stared at the form and gripped it tightly. She found a seat and took a few minutes to fill everything in. When she was done, she thanked him and headed downstairs.
Stacey saw her coming, and her face lit up. She flung her arm around Cassie’s shoulder.
"He didn’t make it hard on you, did he?"
Cassie shook her head. She pursed her lips, then looked at Stacey carefully.
"What?"
"Do people really get groped when they’re working?"
Stacey waved a hand dismissively. "Don’t worry about it. There are some douche customers, but not all of them are like that. Think about the pay, and you’ll be able to power through."
Cassie nodded absentmindedly. She hadn’t seen the pay yet, but she forced herself to think about something she had no concrete way of knowing.
The two left the club and headed back home.
