Chapter 1484: Crystal Sacred Beetle

A cold voice drifted in from nowhere, as if it had crawled straight out of the depths of hell. It sent a chill through the spine.

Then, before anyone could react.

Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!

Three sharp whistles tore through the air.

Out of empty space, three Bloodthirsty Soul-Chasing Arrows burst forth.

The distance was too close. The arrows were too fast.

The three barbarian elites barely had time to register what was happening. Their minds reacted, but their bodies could not keep up. Before they could even circulate their elemental qi to defend themselves, the arrows had already punched straight through their bodies.

"Ahhhh!"

In an instant, three of them were dead. Among them was even an early-tier Great Emperor, all cut down by Ling Feng's arrows.

Their tokens were devoured, and Ling Feng's silver badge rose again, reaching the third phase! (Author's note: A Silver Token advances one phase for every two kills. Ling Feng had already killed one Hall of War disciple, and with these three barbarians, he advanced exactly two phases.)

Now, only Mais alone remained.

His team was wiped out in the blink of an eye. Panic flickered across his face as he scanned his surroundings, but Ling Feng was nowhere to be seen.

"Damn it!"

Cold sweat poured down his forehead. Watching his companions die so suddenly had shaken him completely.

"Stop hiding and show yourself! What kind of man fights like this?"

His strength was not much weaker than Drucker's. In a direct fight, he had no reason to fear Ling Feng.

But this was different.

If Ling Feng stayed hidden and kept firing those arrows, especially weapons like the Bloodthirsty Soul-Chasing Arrows, the threat was overwhelming.

A faint chuckle echoed in the distance.

"Hehe, compared to your plan of using that sealed devil to wipe out the Hall of War, I'd say I'm being pretty fair!"

Far beyond visual range, Ling Feng had already drawn his bow again.

Three arrows flew at once, slicing through the air toward Mais.

Mais's expression tightened. He immediately activated a defensive magical treasure, shielding himself. The arrows were terrifying, but not unstoppable. With preparation and his strength, blocking three at once was still within his ability.

"I don't have time to play with you!"

Ling Feng's voice turned cold.

At the exact moment the arrows were released, his Eye of the Emperor activated.

"Reality Reversal!"

The space around Mais distorted as the natural order of heaven and earth shifted. For a split second, Mais could not even tell where the arrows were coming from.

Still, he was a Great Emperor.

He snapped out of it almost instantly. Light surged around him as he raised a sword in one hand and a shield in the other, deflecting two of the incoming arrows in rapid succession.

But that was all he could manage.

"You're dead. Eight Swords As One!"

Ling Feng's voice came low and steady.

The arrows had only been a feint.

His true killing move, Eight Swords As One of the Heaven-Slaying Sword Art was already descending!

"What?"

Mais's pupils shrank.

By the time he understood, it was too late.

Shwoop!

The final arrow pierced through his shoulder as he twisted aside, barely avoiding a fatal hit. But that moment of survival cost him everything.

He had no time left to deal with what came next.

Boom!

Sword qi tore through him like a storm. In an instant, his body was shredded into pieces, reduced to a spray of blood that scattered across the ground.

Ling Feng did not even look at the aftermath.

He raised a hand, recalling the three arrows, then stepped forward and picked up the fallen snake-shaped container.

"Four more!"

Ling Feng's eyes turned cold.

Without hesitation, he vanished again, heading straight for the next team.

With his Boundless Vision paired with the Bloodthirsty Soul-Chasing Arrows, striking from the shadows became effortless. Before long, another team was wiped out, and a second container fell into his hands.

...

Meanwhile, atop a barren stone peak, Wen Te stood with his hands behind his back, waiting calmly for the teams to return.

Once everything was in place, his plan would unfold perfectly.

Then suddenly, something stirred on his arm.

A strange beetle crawled out from beneath his sleeve. Its body was dark red, its wings trembling faintly as if trying to convey a message.

Wen Te's eyes narrowed.

"Hmm?"

His expression shifted instantly.

"The plan... Does Ling Feng know everything? Impossible!"

The insect was known as a Crystal Sacred Beetle. They always existed in pairs. Within a certain range, they could transmit information to each other.

In the Hunting Battlefield, ordinary communication methods were useless. But these strange creatures raised by the barbarians proved far more reliable.

Wen Te took a slow breath, forcing himself to calm down.

"Good thing I planned ahead. The spy I planted within the Hall of War should still be able to keep them in the valley for now. But if the information has already leaked, then things may not stay under control..."

His gaze darkened.

"And that Ling Feng... he actually escaped alive!"

A sudden realization struck him.

If Ling Feng had managed to overhear them once, then there was nothing stopping him from sneaking back again.

That meant...

Trouble!

In the next instant, Wen Te's figure flickered and vanished from the peak.

...

"Third team!"

Ling Feng's eyes locked onto his next target.

This one was led by Drucker.

Thinking of this "old friend", Ling Feng almost felt amused. If not for Drucker's earlier "generosity," handing over those three Bloodthirsty Soul-Chasing Arrows, he would never have gained such a powerful weapon.

Now, it was time to repay the favor.

Drucker's group was already approaching the outskirts of the valley. Ling Feng planned to intercept them here and take him down along with the container.

Still, he knew this would not be easy.

Among the barbarians, Drucker was firmly among the upper ranks, second only to someone like Wen Te.

Killing him would not be simple.

Ling Feng let out a quiet breath.

If only the Hall of War side had any sense, especially Yang Zhen. If someone from the Heaven Slaying Ten Absolutes had cooperated, they could have turned this around and crushed the barbarians instead.

What a waste.

Ahead, Drucker's group slowed down.

"Stay hidden. Don't leave any traces. There should be Hall of War scouts nearby!"

Drucker pulled out a worn map and handed it to a lean barbarian beside him.

"Eric, you're the best at infiltration. Go ahead and clear out the three hidden sentries within thirty li!"

Eric grinned. "Leave it to me. With what I've got, those idiots won't even know how they died."

Drucker snorted.

"Hehe, too bad Ling Feng will probably die in the valley with the rest. I wanted to kill him myself!"

His fingers tightened into a fist, hatred flashing in his eyes.

The memory of being tricked out of those arrows still burned.

Then, a voice suddenly sounded from behind him.

Cold. Familiar.

"Drucker... your grandaddy Ling Feng is right here!"
