Chapter 86: Going back
Klein opened the door to his home, and the familiar warmth and scent of the place washed over him as he stepped inside.
Cynthia and Arwen were waiting for him in the living room. The moment they saw him, both women stood up and rushed toward him.
"Kay!" Cynthia exclaimed as she reached him first.
She wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled him into a quick kiss.
Klein returned the kiss, resting his hand on her waist as he held her close.
Arwen waited her turn, but as soon as Cynthia pulled back, she stepped in, cupping his face with both hands, and kissed him.
Klein hugged them both, pulling them close as he kissed each of them again, wrapping his arms around their waists.
"I’m home."
Cynthia nuzzled into his chest, "We missed you," she murmured.
Klein smiled, holding them both closer "And I missed you both too."
Kissing his cheek, Arwen whispered "Go and freshen up, dinner will be ready soon."
---
Klein stepped out of the bathroom after a quick freshen-up, his hair still slightly damp from the shower.
With a towel around his waist, he entered the bedroom and saw Arwen sitting on the edge of the bed.
She looked up at him with a soft, affectionate smile as he walked to her.
Arwen reached out and took his hand, gently pulling him closer until he was standing between her legs.
Her eyes gazed upon his bare upper body, resting on the defined muscles of his chest and abs.
She then leaned forward and kissed his abs, her lips pressing softly against the warm skin.
She stayed there for a moment, savoring the contact, before her tongue darted out, licking a slow trail along the lines of his muscles.
Klein chuckled lightly at the sensation and stroked her head gently "That tickles..."
Arwen continued, kissing and licking his abs with gentle affection.
Her tongue traced the contours of his muscles, leaving a wet trail as she moved from one side to the other, occasionally sucking on a spot to leave a faint mark.
She slowly stood up and hugged him in her arms.
He hugged her back and pulled her close, pressing their bodies together.
"I miss you. You can only visit us during weekends... it’s not enough. I want you here every day."
As she spoke, she kissed his neck and throat, her lips brushing against his skin as she breathed him in, savoring his scent and warmth.
But then a slight frown appeared on her face as she saw a hickey on his neck.
’...Huh?’
Her eyes narrowed slightly as she looked at the faint red mark standing out against his skin.
’Was it Cyn? But I didn’t see her kissing his neck...’
A cold glint passed through her eyes ’Which bitch was it?’
Arwen’s arms tightened around his waist, pulling him closer as if to remind herself that he was here with her now.
She kissed the hickey gently, almost as if claiming it for herself, as she breathed him in again.
’Since he is getting famous in Academy, some darned thot dared to touch him?’
Klein noticed the slight change in her demeanor but didn’t comment, simply holding her closer as his hand gently stroked her back.
She kissed his throat again, a little harder this time, leaving her own faint mark right next to the existing one.
Klein let out a low breath, and his hand moved to the back of her head, letting his fingers thread through her hair.
"You’re being extra affectionate tonight," he murmured.
Arwen smiled against his skin, hiding her jealousy behind the gesture.
"I missed you," she whispered. "That’s all."
---
A bit later, Klein and Arwen walked downstairs together.
As they reached the living area, they saw Cynthia in the kitchen, placing the dinner on the table.
The aroma of freshly cooked food filled the house with roasted vegetables, seasoned meat, potato omelet, and warm bread.
Cynthia was humming softly to herself as she arranged the plates.
Klein smiled at the sight and walked over to the dining table, pulling out a chair and sitting down.
Before Cynthia could fully turn, he reached out and gently pulled her toward him.
"Haa-" Cynthia let out a surprised little sound that turned into a giggle as she found herself settling onto his lap.
"You’re already being greedy," she teased, though there was no resistance in the way she leaned back against his chest.
Klein chuckled, wrapping an arm around her waist as he pressed a light kiss to the side of her neck.
"Can’t help it," he murmured. "I missed you."
Cynthia smiled, her fingers lightly resting over his arm as she leaned into him more comfortably.
Arwen watched the two of them with a fond expression, shaking her head slightly as she walked over and took a seat beside them.
"You didn’t even wait a minute," she said lightly, though the softness in her gaze made it clear she didn’t mind at all.
Cynthia picked up a fork, scooping a small portion before lifting it toward Klein’s mouth, glancing back at him with a playful look.
"Open,"
Klein obliged without argument, taking the bite as his arm remained loosely around her.
"...Not bad," he commented after swallowing.
Cynthia gasped softly. "Not bad?"
Arwen let out a quiet laugh, picking up her own fork before offering him a bite from her side as well.
"Stop teasing her, Klein."
"It tastes great, Cyn," He muttered with a chuckle as he leaned slightly toward Arwen to take the bite she offered.
Cynthia leaned back slightly against Klein as she continued feeding him while Arwen stayed close on the other side.
---
Klein was sitting on the bed with his back resting against the headboard and one arm draped lazily over Cynthia’s shoulders as she leaned into him, comfortably nestled at his side.
She shifted slightly, turning toward him as her hand rested against his chest.
"You look more relaxed now," she murmured.
Klein let out a quiet breath and brushed a strand of her hair back behind her ear.
"Being here helps."
Cynthia’s expression softened further at that, and without another word, she leaned in, pressing a light kiss against his lips.
Klein responded just as naturally, his hand sliding to her waist as he pulled her a little closer.
Smiling against his lips, she whispered "You’ve changed so much since you awakened, Kay. Stronger and more confident."
"I saw the footage of your fight against the SS-rank woman. I don’t know how you did that... spear technique."
A faint smile touched her lips "But I am really proud of you."
"Back in the orphanage... you were always protected by me and Arwen. You used to stay behind us when things get rough. Look at you now..."
Hearing her words, Klein’s gaze softened in affection "I am actually glad that I am stronger now. So I can save two of the most important people in my life."
Cynthia’s expression melted at that, and her lips curved into a soft smile as she leaned in and gave him a light peck on the lips.
At that moment, the door opened and Arwen stepped in.
"Seems like I interrupted something."
Cynthia shook her head "No, we were just talking about his duel."
Arwen walked closer, looking at Klein with a thoughtful look "I saw it too. You really do have talent for spears, it seems."
She stepped closer, and Klein reached out and pulled her gently toward him, guiding her to sit beside him.
Arwen let out a soft breath as she leaned lightly into him without resistance, just as she always did.
Klein’s gaze lowered slightly ’Spear talent, huh... if only it was that easy.’
She called it "talent" so easily, and for a brief moment, he felt a quiet discomfort settle within him.
Because it wasn’t that simple.
What they saw as sudden brilliance was built on something they didn’t know... his past life.
...something he hadn’t told them, and he wasn’t sure he ever could.
A quiet guilt began to seep into his heart, threading its way through his thoughts as he sat there holding them.
His arm tightened slightly around them without him realizing.
He exhaled slowly and closed his eyes for a brief second before opening them again.
If he told them...
Would anything change?
Would they still look at him the same way?
Or would that trust in their eyes shift into something else?
He don’t know.
And maybe that uncertainty was what kept him silent.
So instead of saying anything and letting those thoughts spill out and ruin the warmth of the moment, Klein simply pulled them a little closer...
He rested his head lightly back against the headboard, and he let himself stay here, in this small, peaceful space they had created together.
’...Yeah. It’s better not to tell them. Not now.’
The thought came easily at first, and he convinced himself that he would tell them when the time is right.
His gaze wavered slightly and his calm expression cracked just a little as his fingers unconsciously tightened around them.
’Fuck it...’ he thought, a faint frustration rising within him.
’They’re going to find out eventually anyway.’
The idea of them learning the truth in some other way, or worse, piecing it together on their own, felt far worse than just telling them himself.
His jaw tensed slightly.
Before he could overthink it again, he spoke.
"What do you think about past lives... and reincarnation?"
