Chapter 1219: Chapter 1215: Causing Trouble
Tang Tang looked at Dou Dou’s approaching face, then at Duoduo, and giggled back at Dou Dou with a silly grin, saying in a babyish voice, "han~play...play."
Xiao Ya quickly caught up, and the four little heads huddled together, chirping away about where to "explore" first.
Dou Dou, known for having a wise head on young shoulders, immediately made the decision: "Let’s explore the first floor first! See if there’s any treasure."
Saying that, she led the way, running towards the hallway beside the living room, with the four little ones scurrying along, peeking into rooms one by one.
First, they clung onto the kitchen island, looking at the shiny oven and built-in stove inside. Tang Tang let out a long "Oh~" at the spotless stainless steel kitchenware.
Then they sneaked into two south-facing rooms on the first floor meant for elders, eyeing the big bay windows with independent balconies. Dou Dou, hands on hips, shouted about moving the tent over to stay.
Finally, their eyes all landed in unison on the half-closed storage room door at the end of the hallway.
Dou Dou’s eyes lit up as if she had discovered treasure, and she tiptoed over, gently pushed open the storage room door.
As soon as the door opened, the four little ones exclaimed in unison.
The storage room was neat and tidy, with camping tents, folding tables and chairs, and picnic mats on the shelves by the wall. Most striking were the two balance bikes leaning against the wall.
One was a pure white adult model, with sleek lines and brand-new tires that looked hardly used.
The other was a pink-white children’s model, with a tiny frame just right for a child’s height, and color flashlights embedded in the rims.
These were items left behind by the villa’s original owner; when the house was transferred to Taozi, these outdoor supplies were also kept.
Unexpectedly, today they were discovered by a group of little adventurers.
"Wow, it’s a balance bike." Dou Dou was instantly excited, ran over and circled the children’s balance bike.
"I’ve seen this on TV; you stand on it and it moves by itself."
Tang Tang also came over, reaching out with chubby little hands to gently touch the pink-white bike frame and poke the wheels with flashlights, her little face full of curiosity.
"I’ll go first, I’ll go first." Dou Dou was already impatient.
Dou Dou eagerly leaned against the wall, carefully putting one foot on the balance bike, then kicked off with the other foot, standing up.
But she was too hasty; as soon as she stood up, her body uncontrollably plunged forward, causing the balance bike to shoot out rapidly.
Dou Dou screamed in fright, flailing backward, nearly falling on her bottom, but fortunately she grabbed onto the nearby shelf and managed to steady herself.
"That scared me!"
Dou Dou patted her chest and stubbornly tried again.
Either she charged forward too quickly, nearly hitting the shelf, or leaned back too sharply, causing the bike to slide backward uncontrollably.
She fiddled with it for a good while, beads of sweat appeared on her forehead, yet she still couldn’t master it. Her little face turned red with anger, stomping her feet in frustration: "This darn bike is useless, it’s definitely broken..."
Nearby, Duoduo and Xiao Ya exchanged a glance and couldn’t help but laugh.
Duoduo, being calm by nature, never rushed things. First, she asked Xiao Ya to hold the balance bike steady, then took a deep breath, lightly placed her feet on the pedals, and stood steadily on it.
She gently adjusted her body’s center of gravity, slowly leaning forward, allowing the balance bike to glide smoothly.
Though she slid slowly, she was exceptionally steady, adjusting her body lightly from left to right, smoothly making a turn and circling back to the starting point, a touch of pride on her face: "It’s not broken, it works perfectly."
Xiao Ya had her turn too. After a few tries, she got the hang of controlling her center of gravity, slid along the wall twice, and could release her hands, gliding leisurely in the spacious living room.
Dou Dou, seeing them glide effortlessly while she struggled, was so upset her cheeks puffed up like an angry little pufferfish.
She stubbornly tried several more times, still almost falling on the carpet, ultimately grumpily leaning against the wall, watching Duoduo and Xiao Ya glide to and fro, muttering continuously, "It must be broken, bullying kids..."
Yet her eyes remained glued to the balance bike.
Over on the other side, Tang Tang, seeing everyone having fun, was itching to try.
"Oh~ Oh..."
Duoduo noticed her intentions, parked the balance bike in front of her, and firmly held the bike frame, allowing Tang Tang to slowly stand on it.
Tang Tang’s little legs quivered slightly, standing on the balance bike, her body swaying unsteadily.
A moment after releasing Duoduo’s hand, she nearly fell, quickly grabbing Duoduo’s arm, not daring to let go again.
She tried repeatedly, either hurriedly jumping off once she stood up or stiffened like a board, unable to adjust her center of gravity.
Gradually, the little one grew impatient, her small brows furrowing tighter, her little mouth pouting deep enough to hang an oil jug.
Beside her, Dou Dou protested, shouting, "Tang Tang, lean forward, go on, don’t be afraid, you won’t fall..."
Listening to Dou Dou, Tang Tang leaned forward abruptly, causing the balance bike to dart out.
Terrified, she shrieked, jumped off the bike, and landed on the ground.
Fortunately, she was small, so it didn’t hurt at all, but the grievance in her heart surged immediately, her eyes reddening at once.
She climbed up from the floor, glaring angrily at the pink-white balance bike parked there, her tummy puffing up fiercely in indignation.
Dou Dou was right, it’s a bad bike, bullying little kids, too mean.
"Bad, bad bike~"
Tang Tang grumbled, lifting her chubby little foot, and kicked the front wheel of the balance bike.
Despite her small strength, the kick merely rocked the bike, the wheel turned half a circle before stopping steadily.
However, just as she retrieved her foot, a sudden change occurred.
The once calm living room was abruptly whipped up with a gust of wind, swirling around the room.
The wind grew stronger, lifting the balance bike off the ground.
As if grasped by an invisible giant hand, it shot towards the large floor-to-ceiling glass window like an arrow released from a bowstring.
With a deafening "bang~," the balance bike struck the window fiercely.
The double-layer tempered glass shattered like a spider web, countless cracks spreading from the impact point over the entire pane.
Then, a constant crashing sound followed, with tiny glass shards raining down from the window frame, scattering all over the place.
On the second floor, Shen Siyuan, Ruan Hongzhuang, and Taozi were examining the room layout. Upon hearing this massive noise, their expressions changed instantly, and they rushed downstairs without a word.
"What happened?"
"Are the kids okay?"
In the living room, the four little ones were already petrified.
Tang Tang froze, her round eyes widening, mouth forming an O shape.
Then, snapping out of it, she sprinted off on her tiny legs.
Like a frightened quail, she dived headfirst into the gap between the sofa and the backrest, with her little bottom sticking out, burying her entire upper body deep into the crevice.
Her appearance amused Shen Siyuan and the others as they came downstairs.
