Chapter 2088: Chapter 2289: Who Is the Cousin???
Then, she came to the hotel. Initially, the receptionist refused to tell her Hao Jian and Zhang Danlin’s room number, only confirming that the two guests had indeed arrived. Later, she resorted to certain methods and found out the room number.
At present, she entered the room and saw Zhang Danlin, but Hao Jian was nowhere in sight, which was obviously impossible. She was certain Hao Jian was hiding, but after thoroughly searching every spot he could hide, she still couldn’t find any trace of him.
This... inevitably made her furrow her brows and become suspicious.
"Where’s Hao Jian?" she asked Zhang Danlin.
Zhang Danlin sensed the displeasure in her tone, coming across almost confrontational. At this moment, however, she felt guilty. She feared meeting Liang Xiaohan’s eyes would reveal her lie, her words lacking confidence.
"What Hao Jian?" Zhang Danlin said, looking puzzled. "How would I know where he is? Shouldn’t you be the most clear about his whereabouts, so why ask me?"
Upon hearing this, Liang Xiaohan felt unhappy; she had clearly seen Hao Jian taken out by her in a forceful manner. Where is Hao Jian? Surely you know. Even the driver and the receptionist had confirmed two people, a girl with a boy, which she was certain was her and Hao Jian. Following this line of thought, she had found her, so surely she knew where Hao Jian was.
However, thinking this way, it wasn’t possible to directly say it and break the façade, or else it would be bad for both her and Zhang Danlin.
After calming down, she suddenly looked at Zhang Danlin and said, "The heart of someone lying will pound heavily. Can you guarantee your heart isn’t pounding at this moment? You don’t know where he is?"
At these words from Liang Xiaohan, Zhang Danlin’s heart, already pounding, began racing even faster. She tried to calm herself, but found that after Liang Xiaohan exposed her, her heart raced even more wildly, unable to stop.
"I haven’t lied, why would my heart race!" Zhang Danlin said.
She was forcing herself to stay calm, afraid her heart might leap out if this continued. It was the first time she experienced such a situation, the first time she told such a big lie, feeling she couldn’t bear the pressure and was about to collapse. Especially under Liang Xiaohan’s gaze, it felt like her thoughts were being pried into, she was utterly helpless.
"You haven’t lied?" Liang Xiaohan looked at Zhang Danlin knowingly, "Really haven’t lied? Why does your heart race then? It’s pounding without stopping, I can even hear your heartbeat from this distance."
Having already panicked, Zhang Danlin was even more so after Liang Xiaohan’s words, instinctively feeling exposed, then reaching to cover her heart to hide her embarrassment.
Liang Xiaohan hadn’t actually heard any heartbeat; she was merely speaking nonsense to fish words out of Zhang Danlin’s mouth. Unexpectedly though, words weren’t fished out, but her actions gave everything away and she learned everything.
Just now, Zhang Danlin instinctively covering her chest had already revealed everything. She was lying, there was no doubt about it, as liars feel anxious when their secrets are revealed; Zhang Danlin was exactly that at this moment, flustered and panicked.
Meanwhile, as Zhang Danlin covered her chest, she instinctively looked in a certain direction. Though she tried to avoid being noticed by Liang Xiaohan, her every action was too obvious and deliberate, making it easy to capture her movements. Thus, in an instant, Liang Xiaohan spotted her occasionally glancing towards the window.
In that instant, Liang Xiaohan guessed it all: Hao Jian must be hiding behind the window. For others maybe it’s impossible, but he’s Hao Jian, anything is possible. So instantly, Liang Xiaohan figured it out, smiled at Zhang Danlin, and walked toward the window.
Seeing this, Zhang Danlin wanted to stop Liang Xiaohan, saying: "You can’t go over there!"
Hao Jian was indeed behind the window; she knew this. If Liang Xiaohan went over there, she would see Hao Jian hiding behind it, unable to explain the situation when she entered and saw him there. If Hao Jian’s hiding spot was also discovered by Liang Xiaohan, the situation would be even more inexplicable.
Therefore, she absolutely couldn’t let Liang Xiaohan see him. Originally suspiciously guessing, but seeing Zhang Danlin’s nervous behavior and intervention attempt, Liang Xiaohan felt even more sure that Hao Jian was indeed hiding behind the window, or else why would Zhang Danlin be this anxious.
She didn’t say a word, glaring at Zhang Danlin, then shook off Zhang Danlin’s hand and rushed toward the window.
Knowing she couldn’t stop Liang Xiaohan anymore, Zhang Danlin could tell everything from her look. If she blocked her, the consequences might be even more severe. Watching Liang Xiaohan already walking toward the window, opening the curtains and then the window, her mind came up with two words: finished.
This time it’s truly over; even jumping into the Yellow River couldn’t wash it clean. Her gaze began to blur.
Yet, when Liang Xiaohan opened it all up, what she saw surprised her, as did Liang Xiaohan’s shocked expression.
Hao Jian was hiding behind the window; she knew this. Just pulling the curtain open was enough to see him, but now he disappeared mysteriously, despite all windows open, Hao Jian was nowhere. He vanished into thin air.
Face shocked, amazed at this happening, simultaneously Liang Xiaohan mirrored the incredulous sentiment, having deduced from Zhang Danlin’s behavior Hao Jian’s presence, yet after opening the windows and curtains, he was nowhere to be found. This room seemed the last potential hiding place, all others searched, thus leaving her amazed.
But seeing Zhang Danlin reacting like this also made her freeze. Quickly regaining composure, she rushed to the window, glanced below. Did Hao Jian tumble down from here? Her heart tightened: if Hao Jian really fell from here, she would carry the blame forever.
Anxiously she hurried to look down, initially seeing nothing at all. A second check revealed emptiness below, nothing at all seen, including Hao Jian.
Hao Jian didn’t fall down; had he done so, he wouldn’t be invisible. But where did he go? This thought emerged in her mind. As long as Hao Jian didn’t face misfortune, this was the best outcome.
With thoughts arranged, she noticed Liang Xiaohan still gazing suspiciously. Unfound, this conclusion satisfied her, thus she adjusted her emotions and said: "Aren’t you looking for Hao Jian? I’ll help you search, found him yet?"
Scouring the room yielded nothing, leaving Liang Xiaohan slightly angered, and hearing Zhang Danlin’s words only fueled her frustration. She was certain someone had been there but finding them proved elusive, fueling her temporary rage. If Hao Jian was found today, he wouldn’t escape suffering.
At present though, he remained hidden, mysterious disappearance unexplained, nonetheless she’d felt Hao Jian present during her knock, just vanishing at a critical moment. Solving this riddle was imperative.
Lingering here was ill-advised; staying could result in Zhang Danlin mocking her. So, before leaving she said distinctly: "Fine! I don’t know what you two did, but once I do, Hao Jian won’t escape punishment. Inform him for me: if I learn he did anything against my cousin, he’ll regret it."
She left gracefully after speaking.
Leaving she intentionally mentioned it to warn Zhang Danlin: Hao Jian is already taken, better not approach him.
"Bang!" The door closed, Liang Xiaohan departed.
While Zhang Danlin remained stunned. Cousin? What’s the implication? Wasn’t it Liang Xiaohan fighting for Hao Jian, but someone else?
Who is Liang Xiaohan’s cousin?
Suddenly, her brain felt overloaded by the unexpected impact, nearly collapsing.
Confirming Liang Xiaohan’s departure and that the door shut, she approached the window to search for Hao Jian’s trace.
It was necessary to clarify who Liang Xiaohan’s cousin was, her mind confused.
Simultaneously, she worried about Hao Jian’s safety. Such heights, Hao Jian vanished outside, pressing her need to find him, trace his whereabouts; while also questioning Liang Xiaohan’s cousin and their connection.
