Chapter 1116: Grandma
Upon returning to the Kingdom, Idan was greeted by another snow-white fox who opened a portal from the other side.
"What... What is this place?"
"Where are we?"
Eleanor’s two maids couldn’t help but gasp in surprise, while their madam was more restrained.
"Good girl. Now go and mind your own business," Idan said with a smile, after playing for a while and scratching Whitey behind the ear. The fox nodded and, opening the rift, dived inside.
Idan’s gaze shifted to the two-story house.
"She did a great job gathering everyone," Idan noted with satisfaction, seeing that Ivette complied with his request and even persuaded Inessa to leave the room.
Shifting his gaze and seeing that the first impression of Eleanor and her maids had passed, Idan teleported with them to the living room of his house.
His appearance with Eleanor plunged the living room into silence.
Surprised by the sudden change of scenery, Eleanor quickly looked around the audience and recognized most of them.
She looked especially intently at Inessa, who was clearly stunned by her appearance, and at a girl of about fourteen.
It was her first time seeing her in person, not just in photos and videos.
"That’s... that’s her... my granddaughter," Eleanor happily recognized her only granddaughter.
First, she met her grandson Idan, whom she had thought dead for a long time, and now she finally found her granddaughter, whom she considered lost. Eleanor was filled with mixed feelings of joy and sadness.
She already had many grandchildren, but she had never been near them and did not take part in their upbringing and life. The realization only increased her anger at her son.
Because of his lies, she had lost so many years that she could not regain or make up for."Ahem," Idan coughed to get everyone’s attention.
He noticed a complex range of emotions in the eyes of the audience.
Even his younger brothers, although they didn’t realize what was happening, felt the tension in the room and clung tightly to Estelle from both sides.
Ryan sat next to his mother and looked at Idan with a complicated expression on his face.
Amanda was a little nervous, sitting on Estelle’s other side.
Ivette was next to her daughter, Irene, who held her hands tightly, supporting her.
Meeting Idan’s gaze, Irene nodded confidently.
"Let me get right to the point. Some of you are already familiar with this woman, but let me introduce you to Lady Eleanor."
"Grandma," — Eleanor interrupted him, repeating sternly: "Grandma Eleanor, not a lady."
Idan turned to her and, meeting her stern, demanding and unyielding gaze, sighed in surrender.
"Let me introduce you to my grandma, Eleanor," Idan introduced her again.
Ignoring the surprised stares and gasps, Eleanor smiled contentedly.
"Grandma?" — Ina looked at her mother questioningly.
"If my brother calls her grandma, then isn’t she my grandmother too?" she thought. "After all, my brother and I share a mother and father."
Ever since Inessa found out the truth from Idan, she was still in turmoil, unable to accept everything that had happened. Now, seeing the woman who, according to Idan, had helped Adrian with his lies, she didn’t know what to do.
Inessa looked at her daughter and, seeing her desire, could not deny the obvious.
"Yes, Ina, she’s your grandmother. She’s your father’s mother," she said with difficulty, but still, confirming this truth for her daughter.
"I understand that you have a lot of questions, but before you ask them, let Grandma Eleanor..." It was unusual for him to call Eleanor Grandma. "Let her speak out and reveal to you the truth hidden behind the stories of her sons — Adrian and Damian."
"Each of you is connected to these two people in one way or another, so it will be useful to hear what she has to say," Idan said, turning to Eleanor. "Am I right, Grandma?"
The joy that filled Eleanor’s soul just a moment ago was replaced by anxiety about the impending revelation. However, she had already made a decision before coming here, and she wasn’t going to go back on her words.
"Yes, you’re right, my grandson," Eleanor nodded, confirming his words.
Idan’s right eye twitched involuntarily.
"Well, I still have things to do, so I’ll leave you to it," with these words, Idan nodded to Irene and Yvette and instantly moved, taking Eleanor’s two maids with him.
Since it was a private family conversation, they shouldn’t have been there.
Appearing at the entrance to Sofia’s restaurant, Idan turned to them and said:
"Stay here until Grandma and the others finish their conversation."
"While you’re waiting, you can enter and enjoy the unique local cuisine prepared by our talented chefs," Idan suggested, pointing to the restaurant.
"Don’t worry about the bill, just tell them that I brought you, and they’ll understand," he added.
The maids stared at him with bated breath, feeling their cheeks flush with embarrassment and admiration for his beauty.
At that moment, the restaurant’s door opened, and a pleasant fragrance entered their nostrils. Their stomachs rumbled, which only increased their embarrassment and awkwardness.
Shaking his head with a slight smile, Idan opened the Access Portal and returned to the Eastern Continent.
Meanwhile, in the living room of the two-story house, Eleanor shared her revelations. She talked about Adrian’s lies, which she supported. About Damian’s death, which she personally concealed. About his secret observations and regrets that he could not be with his grandchildren. About the years that can no longer be returned.
When her voice finally died down, the living room fell silent. But soon she was filled with sobs, disbelief, indignation, and denial.
Eleanor’s revelation deeply touched everyone.
Even Irene, who wasn’t much involved in the story, was amazed at the scale of Adrian’s deception.
She squeezed her mother’s hands tighter, trying to support her and feeling her tremble.
Ivette tried to smile to show her daughter that she was okay. She then shifted her worried gaze to her older sister.
Eleanor’s words did not dispel Inessa’s doubts. On the contrary, they only made her pain worse.
She didn’t want to admit that her life and love were built on deception.
How many lives had been distorted by the lies of the man she loved and dedicated her life to?
"Mom," — came the soft voice of Ina, her daughter, and brought Inessa out of the chaos. She looked at her daughter, who was born as a result of this lie, and hugged her tightly, not wanting to put up with the idea that it was a mistake.
Her daughter wasn’t a mistake.
