Chapter 2378: Can... I return to my wives if I accept your gift?

"And what if I... wasn’t able to... fling it...?"

Nux asked as he tried to control his anger.

"Then we both die."

The Seer answered.

And Nux—

Now he really was about to lose his mind, especially when he heard those last words.

"We both die...?

Woman, at worst, you would only return to being the observer you have always been. I am the one who would have lost my life, my wives, my children and my Universe.

Only I stood to lose from it."

"No, that is untrue."

The Seer shook her head.

"I used you as a veil, so the moment you are gone, my veil is gone, the Multiverse sees what I did and I cease to exist, permanently."

"That doesn’t make sense."

Nux frowned.

"Couldn’t it simply create another branch? Another separate Universe where you visited Avernyth and took over her body?"

He wondered, after all, this didn’t exactly seem like a big thing considering there were already... Nux couldn’t even count how many Universes there were...

Tredecillion, Quattuordecillion, Quindecillion or maybe more—

Too many.

But the Seer shook her head.

"Our Universe can no longer be branched.

This is also the reason another Universe where you did whatever you did, did not appear while the Timeline of that Universe was preserved."

"Why is that?"

Nux asked with a frown.

"Because of Avernyth."

Nux’s frown deepened, he thought about it for a moment, then, his mind came up with his own reasoning—

"Is it because Avernyth was erased...?"

The Seer’s smile widened, as if she was impressed.

"Exactly."

She nodded.

"Avernyth was erased from all timelines, no version of her exists in any of the Universes throughout the Multiverse, except for in one Universe."

"Our Universe."

Nux muttered and once again, the Seer nodded.

"Why wasn’t she erased from our Universe as well?"

He asked with a frown on his face.

Wasn’t that what being ’Erased’ means?

"She is essentially erased.

The name Avernyth Eternity isn’t known even when she was once the Infinity of Eternity."

Nux nodded at that.

He always found it odd, he had memories of countless worlds, many of those worlds existed in Avernyth’s Era, but never once did he hear her name. People usually called her the Infinity of Eternity.

Even now, the people who knew of her existence called her the Previous Eternity, or the Current Infinity of Eternity, Orravyn’s Mother.

And it wasn’t even about knowing or not knowing the name, the people didn’t even bother to find out.

Nux had never heard a question like—

Who was the Previous Eternity?

What was her name?

What was her power?

Even he was no different.

He showed no interest in her either, almost as if... she didn’t even exist in the first place.

It was only after he read Zylarith’s memory that he was finally able to put a name, face and the rest of the details on the blurred figure in his mind.

"The only reason our Universe still has the memory of Avernyth Eternity is because the beings who remember her, the Infinities, are too strong to be affected by the erasure.

Unlike other beings in the Universe, their minds are simply too powerful to just... forget."

The Seer explained.

But that made Nux think of another question—

"Then what about Avernyth in other Universes? Wouldn’t the Infinities of those Universes know her as well? How did they forget about her?"

"They didn’t forget about her."

The Seer corrected.

"Avernyth never existed there in the first place.

That is what it means to be erased."

"No no."

Nux shook his head.

"I am asking about the time when an Avernyth did exist in those Univer—"

Nux asked, he however, stopped in the middle of his own question as he realized it—

"Time does not exist in the Multiverse."

The Seer smiled again.

"Correct.

The moment Avernyth was erased, her existence was removed from every single Universe."

The Seer then looked at Nux and—

"Just like yours, your wives, and every single entity you have devoured till now has."

"...what?"

Nux’s expression changed.

"What? You didn’t know?"

The Seer raised her eyebrow.

"I knew I do not exist in any of the Universes, but my wives..."

"No, you won’t find ’other versions’ of your wives in other Universes. They and every being you have devoured, do not exist in the eyes of the Multiverse."

"Is that so..."

Nux nodded to himself.

He was honestly... glad about this.

This way—

His wives would be completely his.

He wouldn’t have to go through quindecillions of Universes to take his wives away from them.

Mind you, he was very much planning to do it if it came to it.

The Seer looked at him, then she just chuckled, not saying anything.

Then suddenly—

"So if I was gone, your ’veil’ would be gone too and the Multiverse will be after you since creating a Branch isn’t possible."

Nux summarized.

"Yes."

The Seer nodded.

"Why doesn’t the Multiverse get rid of me as well? You may have used me as a veil, but I am the cause of this problem. Why does it not target me?"

He asked.

"It is because it cannot."

And the Seer answered.

"It... cannot...?"

Nux raised his eyebrow.

The Seer then pointed at the vast Multiverse in front of her and—

"You see it? Every single Universe is interconnected, this network of connection is what’s called the Multiverse.

You, however, aren’t part of the Multiverse."

She explained, pointing at Nux’s Universe that had no connection to the Multiverse or any Universe whatsoever.

"You exist on your own."

"And the Multiverse cannot get rid of what does not belong to it."

Nux completed that sentence and once again, the Seer nodded.

"This is why you are so important to me.

This is the reason only you can give me what I want."

"What is it that you want?"

Nux asked.

But the Seer, she shook her head again and—

"First, you accept my Gift."

Nux thought about it for a moment, he thought about everything he was told, everything he had learned in this little time, then, he looked at the Seer and—

"Can... I return to my wives if I accept your gift?"
