Chapter 179: Heaven Shaking Clash
The sphere of void before Max trembled in the air, so dense and heavy that even the sky seemed to bend around it, swallowing every trace of light, every loose current of mana, every drifting spark from the dragon armies and spirit women behind him.
Aurelian’s golden book opened wider in the hands of the angelic avatar behind him. The pages turned faster and faster, each one burning with ancient symbols that looked as if they had been carved out of sunlight itself.
The chant coming from it grew louder, spreading through the sky in a language no one understood, yet every being who heard it felt something inside them tighten. It was not meant for mortals. It was not meant for dragons. It was something older, colder, and far more merciless, a prayer or a sentence spoken by those who believed the world existed only to obey.
Max felt the pressure of that chant pressing against his skull, but he did not look away. His claws shook from the amount of power gathering before him, his blood burned as the Void-Human Bloodline continued to settle inside his body, and every breath he took felt like inhaling broken glass.
Still, he held the sphere in place, forcing the void to obey even as it tried to swallow more, to take more, to devour everything around it without care for friend or enemy.
Aurelian raised his ruined hand, and the angelic avatar behind him raised its own massive hand with the book glowing between its arms.
Golden light gathered above him in layers, forming a pillar that stretched so high into the sky that the clouds split apart.
For the first time, there was no calm in Aurelian’s gaze. His cracked golden eyes were fixed on Max as if the thing before him was no longer a mortal servant to be reclaimed, but a mistake that had to be erased before it grew any further.
Max did not dare to waste even a single breath more, and so he let the sphere go.
The moment it left his control, the whole battlefield twisted toward it.

Dust, clouds, stones, golden sparks, loose mana, and even the broken fragments of the mountain were dragged along its path. The dragons behind Max were forced to beat their wings harder just to remain in the air, while the spirit women clenched their teeth as they felt the remaining pieces of their magic leaving them and pouring into the attack they had helped create.
The Arbiter answered with his own attack. The golden pillar above him collapsed downward into the book, and from the open pages burst a torrent of light so wide and brilliant that the ruins, the armies, and even the sky itself vanished behind it.
The angelic avatar wrapped both hands around the book as if holding back a divine punishment that wanted to flood the whole world. The beam tore forward, and when it met Max’s void sphere, the first impact produced no sound at all.
For one breath, everything froze.
Then the world screamed.
Darkness and light crashed into each other with enough force to split the remaining half of the mountain beneath them. The shockwave tore outward in rings, throwing dragons back through the sky, scattering spirit women in every direction, and forcing Max’s wings to stretch wide as he pushed forward against the pressure.
The void sphere tried to eat the golden light, but the light kept pouring out from the book without end, burning into the darkness, carving through it, trying to purify it from existence.
The two powers locked in the middle of the sky like beasts biting into each other’s throats, and every second they remained there, the land below them broke further apart.
Max’s arms shook violently. The veins across his neck and shoulders rose beneath his scales, and cracks spread across his skin as the backlash ran through him. His human bloodline burned in response, changing him from within even as the battle tried to tear him apart.
Aurelian’s condition was not much better. The angelic avatar behind him trembled under the pressure, one of its massive wings bending backward as if the void sphere was dragging it into itself.
Pages tore from the golden book and vanished into black fragments before they could escape. His ruined face twisted with pain, and more cracks spread through the gold in his eyes, yet he did not stop chanting. His voice joined the book’s ancient language, making the golden torrent burn brighter.
Max felt his sphere being pushed back.
His teeth clenched hard enough for blood to gather between them.

The dragons behind him roared at the same time, pouring even more mana into the attack, and the spirit women raised their hands with pale faces, sending whatever remained of their strength toward him.
All of it entered the void, and for one wild moment, the black sphere swelled so violently that Max thought it might burst apart and consume everyone behind him first. But he forced it down.
He compressed it with everything he had, crushing all that stolen power tighter and tighter until the sphere shrank instead of growing, becoming darker, heavier, more terrifying, a single point of destruction so dense that even Aurelian’s golden beam began to bend toward it.
The Arbiter’s eyes widened.
Max roared and pushed forward. The compressed sphere pierced through the golden beam.
It did not explode immediately. It burrowed into the light, chewing through it like a drill made from pure hunger. The angelic avatar tried to close its wings around Aurelian, but the void reached it first, tearing through one wing and ripping a chunk of golden radiance away. The book slammed shut, but the sphere crashed into it before the pages could seal, and a massive crack split across the cover as golden light burst out from within like blood from a wound.
Then everything erupted.
The explosion swallowed both of them.
Max felt his body torn backward, his scales ripped open across his chest and shoulder, one of his wings twisting from the force as golden light burned through his side.
Aurelian was thrown in the opposite direction, the remains of his avatar breaking around him while half of the golden book shattered into burning fragments.
