Chapter 1211: Chapter 1210: Walls Have Ears
At this moment, it was already late. Qi Ye stood up and said, "Let’s all have a meal together here. Perhaps, Ji, you should stay here tonight, and we can resume searching for Cloud tomorrow.
Forget it, I’m leaving first. We searched here several times and still couldn’t find anything. I don’t believe you would hide Cloud, Qi, but I’m really not in the mood to eat. I’m heading back.
With that, Patriarch Ji walked to the door. "If you have any news, make sure to notify me." Patriarch Ji felt he had suddenly aged many years. Jiang Cheng was also very worried about Cloud’s safety, with no leads yet.
Jiang Cheng and Zhao Shuai accompanied Patriarch Ji to the dining room for a simple meal. Jiang Cheng felt he should stay at the Qi Family tonight; even if Cloud wasn’t there, he might still find some clues.
After dinner, Qi Rongfeng led Jiang Cheng and Zhao Shuai to a guest room, pointing to the two rooms in front of them, "Jiang, Zhao Shuai, you both can stay here tonight. If there’s anything you need, just let me know.
"Of course, Rongfeng, I’ve stayed here countless times, hehe," Zhao Shuai laughed.
"I’m not talking about you, I’m talking about Jiang," Rongfeng’s mouth twitched. "Alright. It’s fine. Rongfeng, you go rest early. You’ve also had a tiring day," Jiang Cheng said.
Jiang, I won’t disturb you then, rest well." Zhao Shuai rarely showed a fatigued expression.
Looking at this side of Zhao Shuai, Jiang Cheng thought, surely he was worried about Cloud’s safety too, just not showing it.
Alright, you rest well too." After bidding farewell to Zhao Shuai and Qi Rongfeng, Jiang Cheng entered his room. He sat on the bed and pondered the day’s events. Despite the Ji Family sending many people, they couldn’t find anyone. But all current evidence suggested Cloud was indeed at the Qi Family. However, Cloud had no reason to come here. Jiang Cheng was somewhat troubled, thinking of Cloud who had been with him not long ago. He really wanted to find her quickly.
Jiang Cheng walked to the window and pulled down the curtains, lying on the bed with his eyes closed, deep in thought. Suddenly, he felt footsteps from beside the window. Jiang Cheng swiftly sat up, walked to the window, opened the curtains but saw nothing.
Due to system reasons, Jiang Cheng’s senses are exceptionally sharp; he wouldn’t make a mistake. He felt slightly excited, hurriedly dressed and went outside, wandered around but found nothing.
Jiang Cheng took out his ultrasonic cation detector, turned it on and scanned the surroundings, finding nothing displayed on the detector. He looked around and saw nothing. Logically, if someone was nearby, the detector should have picked it up. Jiang Cheng continued ahead, unknowingly finding his way to the Qi Family’s laboratory. Suddenly, the detector started beeping.
Jiang Cheng glanced at the detector discovering someone nearby sending a distress signal. Following the sound waves detected, he walked inside the laboratory. Upon entering, the detection waves disappeared. Jiang Cheng had a premonition the distress signal might be from Cloud but found the large laboratory filled with advanced equipment. It was comparable to what he saw at the Capital City Science Academy.
Jiang Cheng moved forward, approaching a painting. He found the floor beneath appeared hollow. He squatted down and tapped the floor, confirming it was empty. Looking at Zhou Tian’s belongings and the painting slightly unusual, Jiang Cheng lifted the painting, revealing another wall, nothing out of the ordinary.
He ran his fingers along the wall, pressing in the middle. Suddenly, a brick moved inward, and Jiang Cheng hesitated, surprised at finding the mechanism so easily. Before him, the ground opened to reveal a passage. Jiang Cheng thought Cloud might be in there and stepped into the passageway. As soon as he entered, he glanced at the well-lit passage when the door behind him suddenly closed.
Jiang Cheng turned, identified no mechanisms on the walls. He thought Cloud might be trapped here and ventured deeper. He observed the empty passage, puzzled why Cloud came here, cautiously proceeding while monitoring the detector, finding no signs. Continuing forward, he reached a wall covered in unfamiliar symbols.
Using a portable computer, Jiang Cheng interpreted the symbols, revealing the passage’s construction date over a hundred years ago. He was impressed by its condition. At an intersection, unsure which way to go.
The detector signaled again, indicating left. Jiang Cheng followed the increasing signal strength, growing increasingly excited. He saw walls adorned like before with symbolic drawings related to Gold Stone.
Bewildered, Jiang Cheng wondered if Zhou Country had Gold Stone. Considering Gold Stone specific to Kai Ao Star, the origin of these symbols was likely... Li Country! Jiang Cheng was amazed at Li Country’s influence, surprised by its text in the Qi Family’s passage, which merely detailed Gold Stone’s uses.
The distress signal grew more intense on the detector, leading him to a stone door, appearing ordinary at first. Pressing his ear to the stone, no sound emanated.
Examining the stone door, using the Isolation Analyzer, he confirmed it was dense magnetic stone, blocking sound, preventing hearing from outside.
Noticing a protruding stone, Jiang Cheng pressed it, opening the stone door.
Reflecting on the ease of accessing the passage, he felt the situation wasn’t simple, but time pressed on. Entering, he found Cloud squatting on the ground, wearing a yellow dress from the seminar, bewildered by Jiang Cheng’s arrival. As he approached, Cloud seemingly regained sense, quickly stood and noticed Jiang Cheng. "Jiang Cheng?"
