Chapter 189: She Has Crush On Me!

No One’s Pov

Soon after, Lily reached the grand corporate office building, completely disguised in an unrecognizable look. Wearing a simple dark coat and a low cap that completely shadowed her face, she blended perfectly into the busy street. She stood quietly outside the building, waiting and waiting with patient focus.

Finally, after an hour, a luxurious car pulled up to the curb. The glass doors opened, and Dante Moretti finally walked out of the office, surrounded by his usual bodyguards. Lily immediately moved, keeping a safe distance as she followed his vehicle through the city traffic, carefully noting down exactly who he was meeting and what he was doing.

However, she wasn’t the only one watching.

Unknown to her, another dark car was silently following behind her own vehicle.

Inside that second car, Lucian’s personal driver looked at the rearview mirror in complete confusion. "Boss, why exactly are we taking this sudden U-turn? We absolutely need to be at the stadium for the official ice hockey match! We are getting incredibly late for the meeting with the partners."

"Shut up and just keep driving," Lucian said, his eyes locked intensely onto the distant, disguised figure of Lily through the tinted window. He had noticed her leaving the mansion in a hurry and had instinctively ordered his driver to follow her instead of going to his own important game.

His phone in his pocket kept ringing and vibrating repeatedly, flashing his team leader name, yet he completely ignored it. His entire focus was consumed by the maid he hated so much.

Eventually, the chase led to a high-end, crowded restaurant in the heart of the city. Dante had sat down at a private corner table, having a serious meeting with an unknown, middle-aged businessman. Lily took a seat two tables away, keeping a very close look on them while pretending to read a menu.

Suddenly, the two men began talking in much smaller whispers. Lily strained her advanced hearing, trying desperately to listen to the crucial details of the deal, but she failed to catch the quiet words over the loud background music.

Then, abruptly, Dante stood up from his chair. Realizing he was walking straight out in her direction, Lily hurried up from her seat and quickly hid behind a large pillar near the kitchen doors. In her rush, she accidentally bumped into a passing waiter. A cup of burning hot black coffee spilled over, and the hot liquid fell directly onto her already scarred hand.

She didn’t make a single sound, clenching her jaw tightly to suppress the sudden, intense sting.

Dante walked right past her hiding spot, completely unaware, heading straight toward the luxury restroom hallway. Lily looked down at her red, throbbing skin. Needing to cool her hands down and wash off the sticky coffee before the skin blistered, she quietly moved to the other side of the corridor and slipped into the restroom as well.

As she was cooling her throbbing, burned hand under the running tap water, the quiet restroom grew completely still. Suddenly, she felt a freezing piece of cold metal press firmly against the back of her head. She stopped moving the water instantly, her entire body going rigid.

"Who exactly are you?" Dante’s incredibly cold, deep voice rang out from right behind her.

Lily stayed perfectly calm. She didn’t panic, keeping her breathing absolutely steady and still as she stared at her own reflection in the large mirror.

"I asked you a direct question. Who are you, and why do you keep following me around the city?" he demanded, his finger resting on the trigger of his gun.

She slowly turned around to face him. She still had her black disguise mask on, completely covering the lower half of her face, leaving only her unblinking eyes visible.

"Remove your mask right now," he commanded, his eyes narrowing with suspicion.

Before her burned hand could even reach up to touch the fabric, the restroom door was pushed open. A tall, broad figure suddenly stepped right into the narrow space, completely standing in front of her and blocking Dante’s weapon.

Lucian looked directly at Dante, his posture tense but his face forcing a wide smile.

"Lucian?" Dante asked, his cold expression melting into complete confusion to see his old childhood friend standing in the middle of a ladies’ washroom.

Lucian let out a slightly nervous chuckle, scratching the back of his neck as he tried to act completely casual. "It’s honestly so nice to meet you too, Dante! It has really been a while, hasn’t it? I was genuinely missing you today, so I thought, hey, why not let’s just go meet him right now!"

Dante raised his eyebrows high, looking thoroughly unamused. He was completely used to Lucian’s random, unpredictable behavior from when they were kids, but this was ridiculous.

Lily did too. She stared at the back of Lucian’s head with a blank, confused look. Since when does this arrogant young master ever act like this? she thought, completely baffled by his sudden friendly act.

"And you decided the absolute best place to meet me was inside the ladies’ washroom?" Dante said, his voice dripping with flat sarcasm as he slowly lowered his gun.

Lucian stayed completely silent for a second, his mind racing to find a believable lie.

"Are you secretly covering for this girl?" Dante said coldly, his eyes shifting back to Lily behind his friend. "Don’t tell me your- "

Before Dante could even finish his sentence, Lucian cut him off, blurting it out incredibly loud. "Actually, she is following me! She has a massive, hopeless crush on me, and I just keep rejecting her over and over again. So now, she has completely started stalking me everywhere I go!"

Lily looked at both of them, her mind short-circuiting in total confusion. Her dark eyes blinked blankly. Once again, this strange, unfamiliar word had popped up. Crush.

Viella had used it this morning, and now Lucian was using it too. She still had absolutely no idea what it meant, but she knew she definitely did not have one for the annoying young master.

"I do- " Lily started, her voice sharp as she prepared to completely deny his ridiculous accusation.

But before she could say no, Lucian quickly cut her off, raising his voice to drown her out.

"See? She just said ’I do’! Now is everything finally cleared up between us, Dante?"

Lily really felt immensely irritated this time. Her eyebrows twitched slightly under her disguise, and her fist clenched at her side. She wanted to throw a punch at the back of Lucian’s head for putting such stupid words into her mouth, but she had to force herself to stay still for the sake of the mission.

Dante slowly lowered his gun all the way, looking back and forth between the two of them. He let out a sigh, thoroughly annoyed by the dramatic scene. "Fine. Just keep your crazy stalkers away from my business line. Don’t let me get dragged into your personal romance problems, Lucian."

Lucian nodded quickly, his face tightly strained. "Yeah, yeah. Got it. Sorry about the mess."

With that, Dante turned around, pushed the restroom door open, and finally left the room.

The moment the door clicked shut, Lucian let out a massive sigh of relief, his tense shoulders dropping as he turned around to face her.

But right at that exact time, the door swung open roughly once again. A few young women walked into the restroom, stopping dead in their tracks when they saw a tall man standing there. They gasped, their eyes wide as they looked at Lucian and the disguised Lily standing very close together.

"Oh my gosh!" one of the girls squealed, covering her mouth. "We are so sorry! We thought this was empty, but we see you guys are a couple. Oh, so sorry! Please, you guys just continue whatever you were doing!"

They quickly backed out of the room, giggling loudly as they shut the door again.

Lily and Lucian just stood there, staring at each other in absolute silence. The atmosphere in the small room instantly became incredibly awkward and suffocating. Lucian’s ears turned completely bright red from intense embarrassment.

Not wanting to get caught by anyone else, he suddenly reached out, grabbed Lily’s rough hand firmly, and walked out of the room, dragging her quickly through the corridor.

He took her all the way outside the restaurant, pulling her into a quiet, empty alleyway before finally letting go of her hand as if he had just touched hot coal.

He crossed his arms, his embarrassment instantly turning back into his usual harsh anger. "I seriously never knew you would be stupid enough to get caught so easily by a target! You call yourself an elite assassin? Who even knows why my father trusts you so much with the family’s dark affairs!"

Lily, who was still in a complete daze because of the bizarre, chaotic scene that had just unfolded inside, completely ignored his harsh insults. She raised her head, looked at him sternly with her blank, dark eyes, and asked a direct question.

"What exactly is a crush?"

Lucian, who was in the middle of aggressively scolding her, suddenly stopped talking mid-sentence. His jaw dropped slightly in sheer disbelief. He stared at her face, his anger completely freezing. "Wait... you seriously don’t know what a crush means?"

She slowly shook her head, her face remaining completely blank.

Lucian looked down at her with pure disbelief, staring as if she were a strange creature from another planet. After a long, silent moment of staring, he suddenly let out a soft, genuine chuckle. The harsh, angry line of his mouth completely softened.

Lily stayed absolutely stunned, her dark eyes widening just a fraction. Over the past six long years, this was the absolute first time she had ever seen him smile a real smile. Without the usual hateful sneer on his face, she had to silently admit to herself that he indeed looked very good.

Suddenly, Lucian stopped laughing, his expression instantly snapping back to normal. He cleared his throat loudly to hide his embarrassment. Before he could say another word, two of his personal minions came running wildly down the narrow alleyway, completely out of breath.

"Boss! We are way too late for the game! The partners are furious, let’s go right now!!!" they shouted in a panic. In their extreme rush, they didn’t even notice the quiet girl standing right beside him. They grabbed Lucian’s arms and quickly dragged him away toward his waiting car.

Meanwhile, far across the street, Dante stood quietly in the shadows of a building, watching the two of them closely. His sharp eyes narrowed as he watched Lucian leave.

Something about the entire interaction inside the restaurant just wasn’t sitting right with him. The mysterious girl’s cold aura didn’t match the story at all.

With a suspicious frown, he finally turned around and left the scene, determined to investigate further.
