Chapter 180: Little Guard Dog
No One’s POV
The entire bloody scene had been closely watched by a pair of hidden eyes. Standing just beyond the iron door of the basement, Lucian had been peering through the narrow viewing slit the entire time. A wide smirk slowly spread across his handsome face as he stared directly at Lily’s tiny form holding the smoking gun.
He had expected his little sister to break down in tears and run away crying, but instead, this new servant had stepped up and pulled the trigger without a single shred of hesitation. Her cold posture, her steady grip, and the emotionless look in her eyes as she ended those lives were not the traits of a scared little orphan. She was definitely not an ordinary maid.
"Fascinating," Lucian murmured to himself under his breath, his glowing eyes widening with intense curiosity.
Stepping back into the dark corridor, he quickly called out to his personal right-hand man, who was standing silently in the shadows of the hallway. The loyal soldier instantly stepped forward, bowing his head respectfully to wait for his young master’s commands.
Lucian leaned in close, his voice dropping to a whisper. "Keep an eye on that new little girl my sister brought home today," he ordered pointing back toward the basement door. "Follow her every move, watch how she behaves, and get some real information on her background if possible. I want to know exactly where she came from and who trained her to handle a weapon like that. Don’t let anyone notice you."
The personal man nodded his head firmly to show he understood and quickly left the area, disappearing into the dark corners of the mansion to begin his investigation.
Soon enough, the long and exhausting day finally passed, and the deep darkness of the night completely took over the massive mansion.
Lily stood quietly beside the grand bed, looking down at her young lady’s peaceful, sleeping face. Viella looked so small and innocent when she was asleep, completely different from the stressed and terrified girl in the basement.
Satisfied that her lady was completely safe and comfortable for the night, Lily turned around on her heel to leave the room.
As she walked down the long hallways toward her own small servant quarters, she could clearly feel the whispering gazes of the surrounding maids and guards tracking her every move. The news of what she had done in the basement had obviously spread among the staff like wildfire. However, Lily decided to completely ignore them, keeping her face totally blank.
Suddenly, a tall figure stepped out from a corner, completely blocking her path. It was Marcella. The older sister stood with her arms crossed, looking down her nose at Lily with deep hatred.
"You and that little idiot better learn to know your proper place in this house, understood?
Don’t think for a single second that performing a cheap trick in the basement makes you special," Marcella said, her voice cold as she tried to intimidate the newcomer.
Lily didn’t answer her at all. She didn’t bow her head, and she didn’t show a single ounce of fear. Instead, she just stood completely still and coldly stared directly into Marcella’s glowing eyes.
Suddenly, under that freezing stare, Marcella felt a wave of intense cold wash all over her body. Her breath hitched, and a sudden shiver ran straight down her spine. Feeling completely unnerved but too proud to show it, Marcella let out an angry huff, turned around quickly, and hurried away down the hall.
The senior maids standing around the corridor widely raised their eyes in absolute shock and disbelief.
This... this was completely new. No one in the entire household, not even the older servants, had ever been able to shut Marcella up so easily. Yet, this tiny new girl had done it without saying a single word.
Lily finally reached her own small, quiet bedroom. She walked over to the vanity and looked at herself in the mirror. Her face was pale, and she had a few splatters of dried-up blood on her skin from the men she had shot earlier. Desperate to wash away the filth, she went straight into the bathroom to take a hot shower.
She took off her dirty clothes and stepped under the showerhead, letting the warm water start pouring down her body. As the water washed away the blood stains, her eyes suddenly landed on a strange mark on her left forearm.
It wasn’t a normal scar. It was a bizarre symbol that looked as if it had been perfectly carved deep into her skin, completely healed but raised against her flesh. Lily stared at the mysterious mark silently, her mind remaining entirely blank as she tried to figure out what it meant.
"Lord, Lady Calestine has bought a slave from the marketplace today," the head assistant reported respectfully, standing at absolute attention.
Mr. Viella, who was currently sitting behind his massive desk in his private office, didn’t give the man a single glance. He simply kept signing important documents, completely indifferent to how his youngest daughter spent her allowance. To him, she was too soft to ever matter.
"And... she has also finished today’s task in the basement," the assistant added quietly.
Mr. Viella’s fountain pen suddenly stopped moving mid-sentence. The silence in the office became incredibly heavy. He slowly lifted his head, his cold eyes locking onto his employee. "What exactly did you just say?"
"She has completely finished her task, sir. She wiped off all of those captive men by herself," the assistant said once again, his voice sounding incredibly hesitant and nervous under his master’s terrifying gaze.
It was indeed something completely unusual and shocking. These past few years, Calestine couldn’t even bring herself to hold a gun without trembling, let alone look at blood. And now, she had suddenly killed a room full of men without a second thought. No one can change their entire nature overnight. It was impossible.
"Are you absolutely sure she did it with her own hands?" Mr. Viella asked.
The assistant stayed completely silent for a moment, sweating under the pressure. "The young master and Lady Marcella left her alone in the room, sir. When the guards went back inside, all the targets were dead from clean headshots."
Mr. Viella narrowed his eyes, his suspicion growing. "Bring me the security footage from the basement cameras right now," he ordered sharply.
The assistant swallowed hard, his face turning pale. "Actually... the footage from that specific hour... has been completely wiped out, sir. The system experienced a strange blackout."
Mr. Viella stared coldly at his assistant, a terrifying aura filling the room. Someone was trying to hide the truth from him in his own house. "Find it out! Fix the files, track down what happened, and discover who is truly behind this," he commanded.
The assistant nodded quickly in terror, gave a deep bow, and left the office immediately to fulfill the order.
Meanwhile, in another lavishly decorated bedroom across the mansion, the young master was having a completely miserable night.
Lucian kept tossing and turning restlessly on his massive bed. He simply couldn’t get a single wink of sleep, no matter how hard he tried. Every single time he closed his eyes, his mind immediately flashed back to that short girl in the basement and her pair of freezing eyes.
Apart from his own terrifying father, she was the only person he had ever met who possessed eyes that were completely empty of fear and filled with such deep coldness.
He absolutely hated her for that. He was a Viella, a proud and elite heir, yet a mere, filthy servant girl was completely occupying his mind, and he couldn’t push her out of his thoughts at all. Frustrated by his own lack of control, Lucian suddenly sat up in bed and angrily yanked his pillow, tossing it hard across the dark room.
Just then, a quiet shadow shifted near the balcony doors, and a tall figure stepped out from the darkness to stand respectfully in front of him. It was his loyal personal man.
Lucian looked up, his expression quickly shifting from frustration to a cold, mask. He smoothed down his hair and muttered a single, word. "Speak."
"Young Master, I have thoroughly checked everything regarding the servant girl, just as you ordered," the man reported in a low whisper. "According to the official papers, it can be clearly seen that her own family sold her directly to the black-market slave traders a long time ago. However, despite my best efforts, we couldn’t find a single trace of her actual family background or where they live. They seem to have completely wiped their identity clean from all public documents."
Lucian narrowed his eyes, listening closely as the assistant continued.
"Furthermore, judging by her highly precise actions in the basement today, it can be easily seen that she has been rigorously training with weapons since she was probably five years old. It means her birth family must probably belong to some kind of secret elite association or an underworld assassin group for them to give a young child such intense, high-level training."
Lucian gave the information a long quiet thought. Slowly, a wide smirk piled up on his handsome face. So, this silent little statue of a girl was actually a whole lot more interesting and mysterious than he had originally thought. He loved a good puzzle, especially one that could kill.
"Fine. You are dismissed for tonight," Lucian said smoothly, waving his hand.
The man nodded his head respectfully, but before turning around to leave the room, he hesitated for a brief moment. He looked back at the teenager and said nervously, "But Young Master... why exactly did you order me to completely wipe out the basement security footage earlier? What if the Lord finds out that the files are missing? He will definitely be furious if he discovers we are hiding something from him."
"Don’t worry about that at all. I will take care of my father myself if he asks," Lucian said with a careless, confident shrug, his tone dripping with his usual classy arrogance.
The personal man nodded, completely trusting his young master’s intelligence, and soon left the bedroom
Left alone once more, Lucian leaned back against his headboard, his smirk growing wider as he stared out into the night, eager to see what his sister’s new guard dog would do next.
