Chapter 945: Finding Agiel
Thinking about other worlds made Jason’s mind travel towards a journey he had gone on a few days ago, and Jason couldn’t help but frown as Agiel’s face appeared in his mind again. After hearing from Cerci that Agiel had quit her job in the Enforcers and left this domain, Jason had honestly not believed it! It was such an insane thing to hear at that time, and Jason thought Cerci was playing some sort of trick on him! But after speaking with the head of the enforcers in America, Jason learned that Cerci had actually been right. Agiel had quit, and she left Earth while Jason was inside the Blue Gate.
Jason did not know what to think about this, and for a long time, Jason had put all thoughts of Agiel at the back of his mind since he was so busy with the interworld travel rune and taking care of his family. But now that Jason had finally gotten some free time, he decided that he needed to get to the bottom of this. Jason travelled to the world of Arandelle in the second domain and met with Farlow. This was the domain where Agiel’s world was located, and since none of Jason’s subordinates could find Agiel in the sixth domain, Jason planned to ask Farlow to help him find her.
The conversation Jason had with Farlow had been very strange! Farlow had first welcomed Jason happily, and Jason was greeted by most of the royal family as well as Farlow’s wife, Queen Camille.
"You should’ve told me you were coming. We would’ve prepared a festival."
Camille spoke with a smile after hugging Jason, and Jason just shook his head, and he said there was no need for that. Jason wasn’t planning to stay long, so a festival would just be a waste of time. Once he was done greeting the rest of the family, Jason then shook Farlow’s hand, and Farlow spoke with a small smile.
"I have a feeling you aren’t just visiting to say hello."
Jason hummed as Farlow saw right through him, and Jason said:
"I’m actually in need of your help finding someone. Do you know where Agiel is?"
The moment Jason said that name, he saw Farlow’s smile slowly die out. Farlow’s face hardened seriously, and the Queen touched Farlow’s hand and told him that she would leave them to talk alone. Farlow nodded, and the Queen gave Jason one last hug before she left the room with everyone else. Once they were gone, Farlow spoke in a serious tone.
"You shouldn’t involve yourself with Agiel, Jason. You’re only going to cause problems for everyone involved if you do this."
Jason frowned in annoyance once Farlow said this, and Jason asked Farlow what he meant by that.
"The two of you are only going to hurt yourselves if you get any more involved than this. It is not your fault that any of this is happening, so you don’t need to involve yourself anymore."
For some reason, Farlow was still talking in vague sentences, and Jason could feel his annoyance growing!
"Any of what? What in the world is going on, Farlow? Why is everyone acting like there’s some big secret that I haven’t figured out yet? Agiel was speaking in the same way the last time I saw her, and the next thing I knew, she had already left Earth. Why can’t anyone just say things in a straightforward way for once?"
Jason frowned in anger as he said this, and Farlow let out a sigh. Farlow could understand Jason’s anger. This was the exact same anger that Farlow had seen on Richard’s face years ago after he found out what happened with Agiel’s mother, but there was nothing Farlow could do since Farlow didn’t have the right to get involved in their relationship.
"I’ve seen this play out before, Jason. If you go and meet Agiel now, you’ll only hurt her more and make things harder for her. She has made up her mind, so you need to respect that."
"Tell me where she is, Farlow. If you don’t want to tell me what’s going on, then I’ll go speak to her myself."
"Jason—"
"I’m done with this conversation, Farlow. Just tell me where she is."
Jason spoke in a hard tone that didn’t leave any room for argument, and Farlow could tell that Jason was not going to take no for an answer. Farlow frowned before he closed his eyes and let out a calming breath. And then, Farlow told Jason what he wanted to know.
Along the Verdan Pathway located on the Eastern corridor of the second domain, there was a world known as Jadar. It was one of the most popular worlds in the second domain, and most of its popularity came from the fact that it had recently gone through a civil war. Twenty years ago, around the same time that the Primordials had attacked the Avarans, the King of Jadar and his wife were overthrown by an enemy group led by a general from the Jadite army. According to the reports that spread across the Primordial Expanse, the Jadite general had killed both the King and Queen and taken over the world, but before the General could kill the princess, she was smuggled away from Jadar and taken away from the second domain by a mysterious man.
That mysterious princess was Agiel, and the man who saved her was Jason’s father, Richard.
Jason frowned as he stood at the top of a mountain overlooking the central kingdom of Jadar. It was unbelievably huge, with a massive castle standing at the center of it and hundreds of thousands of houses built around it. Jason could tell that this city was at least three times larger than Riverdale! It felt like staring at something straight out of a fantasy story, but Jason didn’t have time to appreciate the view.
During his conversation with Farlow, Jason had asked why Farlow didn’t intervene in this civil war. As the overlord, wasn’t it Farlow’s job to deal with situations like these? But Farlow simply told Jason that this particular situation was outside of his jurisdiction! This war was exactly the same as the war that had happened on Radagan between the Sovereign and the Wyvernriders, and Jason could only accept Farlow’s reasoning.
The Domain Overlords hadn’t been put in charge of their domains to act as watchdogs that prevented any war. The only thing that the Overlords were meant to do was to prevent battles between neighbouring worlds. But a battle occurring amongst the inhabitants of the same world was not something they could interfere in! That was why Jason had been put through a trial after he got involved in the war on Radagan, and it was also why Jason’s father ran away from the second domain after taking Agiel instead of going to Arandelle to hide. Even though Farlow was Richard’s friend, Farlow would’ve still had to arrest Richard for interfering in the war.
But Jason wasn’t interested in any war, and he didn’t care about this world’s past. All Jason wanted to do was to look Agiel in the eye and ask her what the hell was really going on.
Jason waited patiently as his subordinates travelled along the shadows of this world. As a PRIMORDIAL, no one below the PRIMORDIAL Rank could sense Jason’s power, so Jason was basically invisible as he stood on the mountains overlooking the city. Jason waited for a few minutes longer before he finally got a response from one of his subordinates that they had found Agiel, and Jason immediately activated [King’s Substitute] and vanished from the mountains!
