Chapter 896: A Hopeless Battle
Arcitus continued moving through the landscape unbothered, and as he reached the Bengari ice sculptures, he simply trampled over them and smashed them to pieces as he continued on his way!
This same scene could be seen happening in all the regions around the [Sky Serpent Nest]! In the volcanic region, Victor was fighting against the Bengari using his whips and speed to support the Legion! In the swampy area, Helga was in her giant form as she fought against multiple Bengari using her twin swords! All the rulers had been boosted by Katarina’s powers, and they were getting support from Jason’s Legion, so they didn’t have to worry about being overwhelmed by the Bengari, and they could fight freely! The superhumans who entered the Gate with Jason were also fighting beside the rulers, but since none of the superhumans had the same potential as the rulers, none of them had managed to reach TITAN Rank yet, so they could only provide support whenever they saw a Bengari that was distracted!
Unlike Diane, most of the Bengari women fighting here were not under any form of mental control from the Mind Arts user. The Bengari were a warrior race who were willing to pick up their arms and fight whenever their Queen asked them to, so the Bengari were simply following Diane’s orders! But the Bengari never thought that their army would be so outmatched in this fight! After Jason managed to make Diane take a step back during the council meeting, most of the Bengari knew that Jason was strong, but at the same time, they all believed that there was no way Jason would be able to take on more than five thousand members of their race if they ambushed him like this! But what they were experiencing here was something they never expected! It was obvious that the Legion was slowly gaining the upper hand in this fight!
"Stay in formation! Don’t break formation!"
A Bengari warrior shouted as she pushed back against a large Adamantine Ant! Beside her, many other warriors were slowly pushing back against the Legion members, and they were trying to send the Legion members off a cliff so they would fall into a river below! The Bengari had learned that killing the subordinates was pointless since they would just come back to life, so their best bet right now was to get rid of as many of them as possible without killing them! But the Bengari warriors all looked up in shock as they saw a bright light shining above them! There was a long line of subordinates floating in the air and gathering massive amounts of mana for an attack!
The Bengari felt their eyes widen in shock! Did the Legion not care that their allies were also in the line of fire? That attack would hurt all of them! The Bengari warriors immediately hurried to try and pull back so they could activate defensive artefacts, but the Legion subordinates that they had been pushing immediately attacked the warriors to prevent them from doing what they wanted, and in the next moment, the Bishops in the sky activated their attack!
[Mana Blast] has been activated!
BOOOOMM!
A massive ray of pure mana shot forward and decimated the entire group! Both the Bengari as well as the Legion holding them down were blown away by the attack! All the Legion subordinates died immediately, but the only Bengari warriors that died were those in the lower TITAN Rank I level. Many Bengari warriors suffered serious injuries and were knocked out by the blast, and the Bishops in the air wasted no time as they immediately charged down for the Bengari! The Legion subordinates that had been killed came back to life in the next moment, and the dead Bengari were resurrected, and they immediately joined the Legion’s attack! The injured Bengari looked up at the Legion coming towards them, and for the first time, they felt a surge of fear in their hearts! The Bengari were used to fighting against difficult opponents, and they had even fought against opponents that could come back to life before! But this was the first time they would ever see something like this!
An opponent that gained strength the longer a battle went on, and soldiers that had no problem sacrificing themselves since they knew they could be brought back to life immediately! What sort of unfair advantage was this!? This can’t even be called a normal army anymore! These soldiers are worse than demons!
"R-Retreat..."
For the first time in her life, the Bengari leader said a word that she thought she would never utter. The other Bengari warriors turned to look at her with wide, surprised eyes, but the leader didn’t care. The leader had an injury over one of her eyes with blood blocking her vision, and she was gripping her left shoulder tightly while hunched over. The [Mana Blast] had taken nearly everything from her, and she knew that the soldiers didn’t have a chance against the strengthened army! The leader turned and shouted with more confidence!
"Retreat! All soldiers retreat!"
The Bengari army hesitated for a split second, but then they did something that they never thought they would ever do! They turned and ran!
The Bengari soldiers activated runes and artefacts that helped to block any attacks from behind while boosting their speed, and they took off quickly to try and lose the Legion! But the Legion subordinates were a relentless army, and there was no way they would allow their prey to escape! The Adamantine Ant leading this army let out a massive screech, and all the subordinates activated their shadow element and immediately fell into the shadow to chase the soldiers down!
All across the Gate, the Bengari warriors could be seen struggling against the Legion! The number of Legion subordinates had grown exponentially over the past few minutes, and now there weren’t even up to two thousand Bengari warriors left from the original five thousand that came here! All the other warriors had been resurrected, and now they were part of the Legion! As time passed, the Bengari began to realise that they were slowly being broken down by the Legion subordinates, and it was only a matter of time before they were defeated, and they were all thinking about retreating! But in the next moment, the entire battlefield froze as a great power surged across the area!
BOOM!
Both the Legion subordinates and the Bengari stopped their fighting to look up at the source of the power, and they all saw Jason floating over them with a calm look on his face. Jason’s long hair flowed in the wind, and his shirtless body covered in dark runes gave him the appearance of a vindictive god who had returned to pass judgment on mortals! The Bengari took multiple steps back when they saw what Jason was holding in his right hand! Diane’s dead body dangled from Jason’s arm as he held her by the hair, and on Jason’s left side was Diane’s resurrected soul that was waiting for his orders! The Bengari warriors felt despair deep in their hearts when they saw their dead Queen, and they immediately realised that they had already lost this battle! The Legion had absorbed more than seventy percent of their number, and now Jason had grown to become a PRIMORDIAL! What could they do against an army like this!
A Bengari warrior began walking back slowly before she suddenly turned and bolted away to try and escape! All the Bengari warriors who saw this immediately joined in, and they tried to escape from the battlefield, but Jason just raised his hand and sent out a wave of mana!
DOON!
The Primordial mana slammed into the battlefield like a wave of pure despair and threw thousands of Bengari to the ground! The warriors couldn’t even move from the sheer pressure pressing down on them, and Jason gave a simple order to the Legion.
’Kill them.’
