Chapter 983: Hidden Talents
"You can feel it right? It can help you recover completely." Nie Haolong said with a smile.
So what if he wasn’t able to repay him this time and had to sell it to him? It was still helping him and it made him feel good.
Max’s eyes flickered when he heard this and he became even more astonished because... he didn’t feel that it would help him recover. Instead, he felt it resonate deeply with something deep within his bloodline.
Though he wasn’t able to utilize his Bloodline Sense yet, he could still tell what was resonating inside him was the trace of Garfield Bloodline that had come with the Lust Overlord Bloodline. If not for this resonance, he wouldn’t have noticed that his other bloodlines had come with him.
Inhaling deeply, he suppressed his greed and turned to Nie Xiaolu and Nie Haolong and solemnly said, "Xiaolu, Haolong... you might think it is some healing type Spirit Fruit but it is not.
If my guess is correct, it’s something very miraculous and precious to the point that Sky Ascension realm cultivators and even those stronger than them would fight to death to compete for it if they saw it.
If you keep it and eat it after you are in your best condition, it will bring you unimaginable benefits and that might allow you to become a powerful cultivator. Now, tell me, do you really want to sell it to me?"
The siblings’ were astonished upon hearing this.
"Is it really so precious?" Nie Haolong asked to which Max nodded.
Nie Haolong hesitated. If it was as he said, they should keep it. After all, if he or his Elder Sister could become a powerful cultivator, all their problems would be resolved. They could even give it to their mother, who had been bed-ridden and suffering from pain day and night for years, and it would probably heal her completely.
He looked at his Elder Sister. While he was a cultivator and she was just an ordinary mortal, she was smarter. So he would do what she decided.
Nie Xiaolu thought for a moment, then shook her head, "Haolong needs a large amount of money to be in his best condition and I doubt just having money would be useful in my case. As for our mother, it might be able to heal her but then again, we couldn’t be sure about it. So, I still think it’s best that we sell it to you. I believe you won’t shortchange us."
Seeing she was still able to think logically and clearly, Max became even more impressed with her.
"Don’t worry, I won’t do that." He took a breath and nodded. Then he said, "How about this, I’ll procure resources for Haolong to nourish himself and increase his cultivation. I’ll help you become a cultivator and I’ll try my best to help your mother recover in exchange for it? Is that acceptable?"
Both siblings became stunned when they heard this.
"You can help Elder Sister become a cultivator?" Nie Haolong asked, his face a mask of hope. Except for improving his family’s condition so they could live a better life, what he wanted most was to find a way to heal his mother and help his sister enter the path of cultivation.
While he had just promised to find a way to heal his mother and he might not not succeed in doing so, from the way he said he would help his sister become a cultivator, it seemed he was confident in achieving this. So how could he not become excited and hopeful?
As for him getting cultivation resources, he didn’t even consider them as compared to his other two promises, they were worth nothing.
Before Max could respond, Nie Xiaolu shook her head, "Brother Chen, I don’t doubt your willingness to help but I can’t cultivate."
Max smiled lightly and asked, "Because of the cold energy inside you?"
Nie Xiaolu’s eyes widened in surprise for a brief moment. She had never told anyone about her condition, nor let anyone test her. So how could he know about it?
But she quickly regained her composure and calmly nodded, "Yes."
Nie Haolong trembled from head to toe when he heard the exchange and his face turned ghastly pale, "Sister... You also have it... Why didn’t you tell me... Why?"
Max raised his brows, not understanding why he was reacting so strongly. Suddenly his eyes flashed, ’Could it be...’
Nie Xiaolu looked at her brother and softly smiled, "Why would I tell you about it, so you would have more mental burden?"
"Can you tell me what’s going on?" Max asked, wanting to confirm his speculation.
"Before our mother became bed-ridden, she also had a cold energy within her. Because of it, no matter how hard she tried or what resources she consumed, she could never become a cultivator. It also used to cause her pain regularly but it was manageable.
If it ever flared, father would give her medicine of fire attribute and it would calm down. But after father passed away and we could no longer buy enough medicine to suppress her cold energy, it rapidly increased and mother became bed-ridden." Nie Haolong explained, his eyes glistening with unshed tears.
Max couldn’t help but let out a long sigh.
No matter how talented someone was, if they were from a poor background and couldn’t utilize that talent, it would all go to waste and in some cases, it would become the reason for their suffering.
Their mother and Nie Xiaolu were perfect examples of this.
Both possessed some kind of Yin Constitution. If they were born in a Sky Ascension or stronger family, their talent would have been detected and they would have been able to utilize it and become powerful cultivators. But in the Nie Family, which wasn’t much stronger than Gu family at its peak, their talent remained hidden and became the reason for their suffering.
He looked at Nie Haolong, opened his mouth to say something but hesitated.
In his first life on earth, his only friend had kind-of betrayed him, and in his second life, in the magic world, he didn’t have any male friend. So, in all of his three incarnations, Nie Haolong was his first true friend and he didn’t want to lose him by saying what he was about to.
Right then, Nie Xiaolu suddenly asked Nie Haolong to leave, "Haolong, can you go out for a bit? I want to talk to Brother Chen about something."
