Chapter 914: Green Swamp
4th Zone-Special Base
Jeremy Night walked into the admin building with the same spirit. He noticed that the crowd gathered here was larger than before.
He then began to look for Elder Smith while he was standing in front of the mission desk. Others noticed him as well.
It didn’t take long for Elder Smith to appear. He greeted Jeremy before giving him a device. Jeremy took the device and started going through the missions.
This time, he wanted to do a difficult mission. He still didn’t want to slay a Tier-4 Beast. If possible, he wanted to hunt down more Tier-5 Beasts.
[Mission: Collect the venom sac of at least one Tier-5 Dotted Gray Spider. Day limit: One day. Credit points: 300. Leader Board Points: 800]
Jeremy spotted a suitable mission. Though the time limit was only one day, it would be easy to kill and collect the venom sac of one Tier-5 Spider beast.
His eyes gleamed with a twinkle when he saw the credit points and the leaderboard points.
He thought someone urgently needed a venom sac for something. That’s why they offered such rewards.
He then looked toward Elder Smith and showed him the device. Elder Smith looked at the mission and nodded his head. He thought the mission suited Jeremy Night.
"The Dotted Grey Spider was last seen near the green swamp. You can find the location of the green swamp on the map. It’s quite far away from the base. You have to be careful," Elder Smith offered the advice again.
He then completed the registration process.
Jeremy Night then left the administration building. He texted Elder John and immediately received a reply back.
After reading the message, his expression grew serious.
[Be careful of the Beast Tamers in the wilderness.]
The message carried a warning. He was not naive. He had thought he hadn’t attracted the attention of the faction people.
But he was wrong. People might have seen him as a hindrance already. Jeremy Night then pushed away the unnecessary thoughts.
He then went toward the wilderness, stepping inside the barren land. After reaching a safe spot, he took the map out and began to view it.
He looked for the green swamp. He found the green swamp marked on the map. It was actually a few miles away from the base.
The distance was far, and the journey would take more time. He decided to use "Feathered Steps."
Swoosh!
The next second, he started moving toward the destination. As he went deeper into the wilderness, the special base disappeared.
Jeremy Night was also using his eye power to avoid the Beast Tamers and the beasts. He didn’t want to waste time engaging with them.
Forenoon,
He spotted beast taming teams through his eyes. Their paths coincided. He recalled the words of Elder John.
If some people truly wanted to deal with him, then he was absolutely ready as well. He was no coward, but he was thinking of the big picture.
He didn’t want to confront the factions before truly cementing his place in the hearts and minds of the people.
He needed to get support from neutral elders. Then he could confront these people, but if he faced them unnecessarily, he might offend the Elders behind them.
He didn’t want to cause problems for Elder John.
He shook his head and took a detour.
Green Swamp
After using the Feathered Steps extensively, he reached the destination one hour later. He saw a wide, low-lying area with shallow water.
There were harmful trees, shrubs, and other vegetation. Usually, there would be crocodile beasts in the swamp. He didn’t know why the Dotted Gray Spider was last seen here.
Then he used his second eye power and scanned the place.
It didn’t take long for him to find life forms. But they were not the Dotted Gray Spider; there were other swamp beasts.
As his gaze went deeper, he even found signs of higher beasts. He took his gaze off, not wanting to alert them.
Just as he decided to move away from the place to look elsewhere, his eye power caught something else. There was a corrupted beast running toward his direction.
It was a four-legged beast. As the beast got closer, he made a judgment: the four-legged beast could be a higher-tier beast.
"Explosive Steps"
He used the movement method to escape from the place. He looked for dry land. The beast was coming behind him, so he couldn’t go back.
He picked the right direction and started moving along the path. The sense of crisis triggered his talent.
He felt the beast continuing to chase him from behind. He was puzzled and didn’t know which beast it was. He then used his eye power to zoom in. He turned around and saw a close-up picture of the beast.
"Tier-6 Black Hyena," Jeremy Night uttered.
His back went cold. He had underestimated the revenge sought by the beast. The beast must have been waiting for him.
A quick gleam appeared in his eyes. He had touched down on dry patches on the ground. It was solid ground; he could face the beast here.
He then used his eye power to scan the area. There was no sign of other beasts or beast tamers.
The next second, he stopped moving. He turned around and looked toward the beast, seeing the bloodshot eyes of the Black Hyena.
He thought the beast must have been enraged already. He didn’t know whether the beast had an ability. His mind calculated the best possible move.
When the beast came within shooting range, he made his decision. He took out his handgun. He held the gun in his hand and covered the bullets in starlight thread.
He used his second eye power to aim at the weak points of the beast.
Bang!
He targeted the legs and fired continuous shots at the beast. The silver bullets tore through the air, reaching the target in a flash.
Then they came in contact with the legs. The starlight power felt no resistance. The silver bullets pierced through the skin and flesh one after another.
