Chapter 909: Part 1: 2nd Mission (Special Base)
4th Zone, Special Base
Until nighttime, Jeremy Night kept practicing. He was training his muscles. At first, it was hard, but his Supreme Combat Body Talent eventually helped him.
He was able to tense and relax his muscles, but the real challenge was to do it with all parts of his body. It would definitely take time.
He decided to train his muscles while doing the mission tomorrow. By doing that, he could save a lot of time. After figuring this out, he ended the practice.
Then he went to the bathroom and cleaned himself of impurities. After taking a cold shower, he walked out and changed into comfortable clothes.
He then went to bed to sleep.
The next morning,
Jeremy Night woke up early. He did his morning routine. He didn’t practice today; he decided to leave early for the mission.
One hour later,
He left the room and went to the ground floor. He came across the other members. Only a few of them were there. They glanced at him and did nothing.
Jeremy Night left the building and went toward the administration building. When he got there, he immediately looked for Smith.
He found him speaking to someone else. He went to him directly and expressed his intention to select a mission.
Smith was taken aback. He had heard from Elder John that Jeremy Night had reached a breakthrough point. He found that the aura from Jeremy Night was a bit stronger.
He thought Jeremy Night had at least achieved a small-stage breakthrough. He nodded his head before going to the mission desk.
Jeremy Night walked up to the mission desk. Smith showed him a device. Jeremy then began to browse the missions himself.
[Mission: Hunt down Corrupted hybrid dog beasts. Their population has increased around the base. 100 credit points/head. 200 leaderboard points/head.]
Jeremy Night read the first mission. He thought it was the right mission to get more leaderboard points. What was more, there was no time limit for the mission.
He then selected the mission and told Smith. When Smith heard it, he frowned. The mission description was simple, but he knew that was not the case.
If the mission were easy, someone might have done it already.
"Don’t think of it as a simple mission. The dog-type Corrupted beasts might have higher-tier beasts among them. You have to be vigilant," he said.
He tried to give him pointers like during the previous mission.
Jeremy listened to him. He knew the strength of the Corrupted might differ from the last mission. Only he knew how he had survived the Tier-6 Beast.
Smith finished the procedure. Jeremy thanked him before leaving the building. The next second, his device buzzed.
Jeremy picked up the device and saw that Elder John was calling. He answered the call. The next second, Elder John summoned him to his office and ended the call.
Jeremy then went to the office room.
A few minutes later,
He entered the building and came to the last room on the ground floor. He arrived in front of the office door and knocked.
He heard Elder John’s voice from inside. He walked in and saw the Elder seated behind the desk. He then sat on the chair opposite him.
"How did it go?" Elder John asked.
Hearing that, Jeremy knew he was asking about the close combat technique. He then explained the situation to him.
A few minutes later,
Elder John heard everything and understood that the young man had not even entered the Initial Stage.
"You have not entered the Initial Stage. The predecessor who created this close combat technique mastered it."
"There are four tiers in this technique: Initial, Proficient, Expert, and Master. Once you reach the level of Master, you can easily kill higher-tier beasts in close combat," Elder John said.
Hearing that, Jeremy Night was not surprised. He knew about technique mastery; it was just that he had paid more attention to his own blade skills.
He used to fully focus on his blade skills and had forgotten about his level in this technique. The technique had divisions as well.
He was at the Proficient stage in both "Shadow Slash" and "Feather Steps."
He also believed he was at the Expert stage in both "Triple Rapid Cuts" and "Explosive Steps."
Then there were two more techniques: "Blade One Move" and "Star Fist."
Jeremy thought he was at the Proficient stage in "Blade One Move." When it came to "Star Fist," he was clearly at the Initial Stage. He decided to pay more attention to the Star Fist.
He decided to reach the Expert level in each of the techniques.
Time passed
Elder John continued to give him some advice.
"Did you select a mission?" Elder John asked.
Hearing that, Jeremy Night told him about the mission.
"The corrupted dog beasts are large in number. Be careful, they have higher-tier beasts among them as well," Elder John said.
"Okay," Jeremy replied.
A few minutes later,
Jeremy Night left the office room. He went directly towards the wilderness. If anyone saw him, they would doubt whether he was actually going on a mission.
He then stepped into the wilderness alone. After leaving the base, he sat down under a tree and began to look at the map. It was a map of the wilderness.
Unlike other beasts, there was no fixed territory for the dog-type Corrupted beasts. He could find them after some research. He then made a decision.
He knew about the small hill, but this time he decided to explore a new place. He picked a direction, put away the map, and stood up.
Jeremy then resumed his journey. On the way, he left behind markings that would be useful during his return.
Swoosh!
It didn’t take long for him to encounter other Beast Tamers. They seemed to be coming in his direction.
Upon seeing them, he understood that they were returning from a mission.
He didn’t change his route. He continued to walk forward, not caring whether they would say anything or not.
There were five people in the group, and all of them were Tier-5 Beast Tamers.
