Chapter 359: Chapter 359: The Child Will Take My Surname

Juliana pushed the ham and chicken congee away from her and wiped her mouth with a napkin, meeting Elias Langley’s gaze with an indifferent expression.

"If you’re so worried about her, go see her. You might as well feed her medicine mouth-to-mouth; maybe a whiff of your immortal breath will give her the longevity of a turtle."

Elias Langley was momentarily speechless by her words, and as he was about to retort, he saw Juliana stand up and toss the napkin onto the table.

"The two of you are so disgusting I can’t even eat."

With that, she ignored Elias Langley’s darkening expression and left without looking back.

Raine Kane’s car was parked at the doorway. Juliana got in the back seat with a cold expression, opened the glove compartment, took out a sour candy and popped it into her mouth, then lay back.

Raine Kane started the car slowly.

"Juliana, Chairman Langley plans to bring the family to Kingsford today to visit Mr. Langley."

Victor Langley is coming?

Since the younger brother is sick, it’s only proper for the older brother to visit, isn’t it?

But knowing Victor Langley’s nature, he won’t leave empty-handed if he’s coming.

"He’s a typical opportunistic businessman; you must be careful," Raine Kane reminded.

"I will," she replied.

Juliana closed her eyes. The sour taste spread on her tongue, but it couldn’t suppress the bitterness welling up inside her.

Raine Kane glanced at her through the rearview mirror and silently turned up the air conditioning.

The car stopped at the Nivoria Biotech Tower.

Juliana opened the car door, and the head of the Precision Medicine Center was already waiting at the entrance.

Upon seeing her, they immediately came forward.

"President Jacobs, this way, please."

The head led her to their office.

Juliana remained silent all the way. It was only after they entered the office that she took out a transparent sealed bag from her bag and handed it over.

Inside the bag were the remains of the syringe broken in Elias Langley’s study last night, with traces of medication still on the inside of the barrel.

"Can you analyze the exact components of this medication? As quickly as possible. Send all the data directly to my personal email."

The head took the bag, examining it carefully under the light, with a solemn expression.

"This season, the biological activity hasn’t degraded, so there should be no problem. Our center has the most advanced mass spectrometry and chromatography equipment, specializing in analyzing such trace residues. The results will be ready in seventy-two hours at the latest."

"I appreciate it."

With her purpose fulfilled, Juliana had no intention of staying longer and turned to leave.

"President Jacobs," the head carefully placed the transparent bag away and called out to her, a hint of hesitation in their voice, "Mrs. Sinclair will be arriving soon; do you want to wait for her?"

Juliana glanced back, the corners of her lips barely curving, and said blandly, "No need, thank you for your concern."

Juliana headed downstairs, feeling slightly lightheaded due to skipping breakfast.

In the parking lot, Raine Kane saw her and immediately ran up, supporting her.

"Are you okay?"

Juliana shook her head.

"No one knows you’re pregnant, and the meals they prepare are inevitably greasy. We need to think of a plan."

Juliana was about to respond to Raine Kane when she heard a car door close behind her.

"Juliana!"

Mrs. Sinclair came jogging over with a thermos lunchbox in her hand.

Juliana closed her eyes, turned around, and her gaze calmly settled on the eager face approaching her.

"Almost missed you... I heard from Dr. Linton this morning that you were coming, so I hurried to bring you the soup I prepared. Have you had breakfast? Any morning sickness?"

There was no hint of gratitude for Mrs. Sinclair’s concern on Juliana’s face, and she responded curtly, "I’m fine."

Mrs. Sinclair seemed accustomed to her daughter’s indifferent attitude and wasn’t discouraged, still extending the thermos towards her, her voice even softer.

"Take it; at least it’s hot. As someone who’s been through this, I know this soup will make you feel better."

Juliana looked at the soup in Mrs. Sinclair’s hand but showed no intention of accepting it.

"The child will take my surname and will have nothing to do with the Sinclair Family, so you don’t have to care so much."

Mrs. Sinclair immediately realized the misunderstanding and quickly said, "The child is yours, of course; you can decide their surname. But you have to take care of your own health for the child’s sake."

Juliana didn’t like Mrs. Sinclair, but she was responsible for her child.

After a moment of silence, she took the thermos from Mrs. Sinclair’s hand without any change in her expression and said, "Thank you," before getting into the car.

Mrs. Sinclair wasn’t angry; in fact, there was a faint gleam in her eyes.

"Remember to drink it while it’s hot. No matter how busy work is, take care of your health. Call your... father if you need anything."

Yet her response was the sight of taillights disappearing into the distance.

Juliana was busy at The Innovation Hub until after five, when her phone on the desk vibrated.

Surprisingly, it was Rosalind Linton calling.

As soon as the call connected, Rosalind Linton’s voice, familiar yet tinged with slight reproach, came through.

"Juliana, why are you still out working? Victor Langley and I have been at the Langley Residence with Adrian and Jared all afternoon; it’s such a rare gathering for the family, just missing you, the hostess."

Juliana paused for a breath, then calmly said, "Oh? No one informed me."

Rosalind Linton immediately understood, "So Elias Langley is blatantly watching that little minx claw her way up, trying to push you out?"

Juliana remained silent on the phone.

"Alright, I understand. You wait."

Rosalind Linton stood in the front corridor, glancing at Iris Paxton flitting around inside like a hostess, and grunted quietly under her breath.

Just then, Adrian Langley approached.

"Mom, when is Juliana coming back?"

Rosalind Linton was about to say, "The vixen’s nesting here, what’s there for her to return to?" Just as she saw Jared Langley, who had finished making a call, walking into the main hall.

Her eyebrows arched, and she responded to her son in a voice neither loud nor faint.

"Your uncle lost his memory. Once someone who handled affairs so thoroughly, now he’s muddled. You see, Juliana doesn’t return, and he doesn’t seem to care. Ah, poor Juliana. If she’d chosen another man back then, who knows how much more comfortable she’d be now."

Jared Langley’s footsteps paused, hesitating momentarily, before turning to come over.

"Aunt, is Juliana still busy?"

Rosalind Linton shook her head, "Even if she’s not busy, with the house like this, can she join us for dinner? I mean, both your dad and your uncle were wrong. Regardless, a Langley family reunion dinner should be hosted by the legitimate wife. How can they let a little monkey jump around like this?"

Jared Langley pondered silently, "I’ll go pick her up."

With that, he turned and walked towards the door.

Adrian Langley looked at his mother, "Did you purposely let him go fetch Juliana?"

Rosalind Linton nodded, "Given your father actively groveling at the Paxton’s feet, he can’t wait to elevate Iris Paxton the mistress. Instead of being a normal person, he insists on being the Paxton’s dog. His worldview has always been skewed, and yet heaven favors him, allowing him to build such an empire."

After venting her thoughts on Victor Langley, she returned to the main topic.

"If you go fetch Juliana, your father would certainly be displeased, but it’s different if Jared goes. In his eyes, Jared is the rightful heir; even if it goes against him, he wouldn’t mind. But for us, it’s not the same. We mother and son must tread carefully at every step now and absolutely cannot incur your father’s displeasure at this critical time."

Adrian Langley nodded in agreement.

Returning to the main hall with her mother, Victor Langley was chatting with Iris Paxton. Noticing their return, he appeared somewhat displeased.

"Miss Paxton is busy hosting us, yet both of you are lingering outside for so long without helping?"

"Chairman Langley, it’s fine. Even though you are his brother and sister-in-law, now that you’re in Kingsford, you’re guests, and it’s only right for me and Elias to host you."

Iris Paxton’s thoughtful courtesy brightened Victor Langley’s face even further, and he turned to Elias Langley beside him, saying, "Brother, you’ve truly struck gold."

Suppressing her own disgust, Rosalind Linton stepped forward with a smile, "My son and I were just fetching our luggage. Coming here, I brought Miss Paxton the snow cream from The Evergrace Hall. But there was so much to carry, I wasn’t sure where I packed it; it’ll have to wait until we find it."

Iris Paxton waved her hand quickly, "Madam, you’re too kind; there’s no need, really."

Victor Langley nodded in approval, "We’re all family; it’s good to be courteous and it shows harmony."

A blush rose on Iris Paxton’s cheeks, as she glanced shyly at Elias Langley beside her.
