Chapter 332: Chapter 332: Florence Sinclair, It’s Time to Settle the Score
"Do you... feel dizzy too?" Auden Hughes asked.
Juliana raised her hand to hold her temple, feeling hot all over, yet her gaze at him was icy.
"Did you put something in the tea?"
Auden’s mind was still relatively clear at this moment.
"Heaven above! I admit I like you, but I would never do something like this. If I did, not only would you not like me, you’d hate me forever. Besides..."
He suppressed the surging tide within his body.
"I was just afraid someone might tamper with it, so I personally watched the preparation of this fruit tea in the kitchen."
Juliana forced herself to ignore the strange sensations in her body, glancing around until her gaze landed on the air conditioning vent.
"It’s the air conditioning... There’s something wrong with the air in this room..."
She struggled towards the door, only to find it had been locked from the outside.
Auden immediately stood to try the window, but it wouldn’t budge.
So, someone deliberately trapped them here, intending for something to happen between them.
"We can’t get out, what should we do?"
Auden returned to the table, unbearably hot, and tore off his tie.
"Hand...phone..."
Juliana wanted to suggest calling for help but found her tongue wouldn’t cooperate.
Auden tried to make a call but realized there was no signal.
"Damn... can’t make the call..."
Auden felt the blood in his veins swelling, as if about to burst.
"Block the air vent!"
Juliana fought the dizziness induced by the scent, slowly taking Auden’s jacket from the coat rack.
Auden hurriedly pushed the table over to help her climb up.
Both were clumsily controlled by the drugs.
Auden held Juliana’s calf, his thoughts chaotic...
Unbeknownst to them, three surveillance cameras in the room were broadcasting their situation live.
Elias Langley received an anonymous friend request while in a meeting.
His contact information was nearly undisclosed, so a stranger adding him meant trouble.
Calmly, he accepted.
As soon as he verified the friend, the other party sent him a live stream link.
Upon clicking it, Elias saw Juliana stumble off the table, losing balance and caught by Auden.
At that moment, another person entered the live stream.
Elias promptly halted the meeting and walked out.
While walking, he made a call.
"Trace an IP address for me..."
At that end, as Auden embraced Juliana, his blood boiled more fiercely.
"Juliana, I... I’m sorry... but I want..."
Biting her lip, Juliana pushed him away forcefully.
"From now on, crawl to the corner over there and don’t come near me."
Even now, Auden managed to control himself, scrambling to the corner.
No way out, so ventilation was the only option first.
Juliana, dragging her weakened body, picked up an ashtray and approached the window.
The store used toughened glass, and she lacked the strength to shatter it after several hits.
With her body growing weaker, her brain issued danger signals.
Just as she inhaled deeply to strike again with the ashtray, someone clutched her wrist.
In the corner, Auden didn’t remain calm for long, losing his sanity completely.
His bloodshot eyes stared at Juliana, pulling her into his arms and pinning her to the ground.
"Juliana," he slurred, "I want..."
"Get away!"
Juliana tried hard to push him off, crawling away only to have Auden grab her ankle, forcibly dragging her back.
Unable to hold back, Juliana slapped him.
"Auden Hughes, do you know what you’re doing?"
Yet the slap didn’t sober him, instead igniting the last fuse.
The drug, coupled with long-standing feelings, made Auden lose control.
He gripped Juliana’s clothes, his once gentle face now twisted and frightening.
"Give me... give me..."
Rip!
Juliana’s clothes were torn.
Immediately, she raised her head and bit Auden’s hand.
Pain made Auden release his grip, allowing her to flip over.
Despite her weakening body, she tried to crawl away.
But completely ruled by primal urges, Auden pinned her down again.
Juliana’s vision blurred, yet more terrifying was her desire for a man.
But this person was definitely not Auden Hughes.
She was close to collapsing, with darkness swallowing the edges of her consciousness.
At the brink of giving up resistance, the door to the room banged open violently!
Simultaneously, the three cameras inside went out.
Elias Langley appeared at the door.
Seeing the disheveled, tousled Juliana, his expression was frighteningly grave, stepping quickly to lift Auden effortlessly, throwing him aside like a bag of waste.
Auden hit the wall with a dull thud, slumping to the floor.
After dealing with the trouble, Elias turned, swiftly yet gently wrapping the nearly collapsed Juliana in his overcoat.
Suffering from the heat, Juliana extended her arms for an embrace.
Elias hesitated not at all, pulling her close.
Seeing her tremble, he showed no anger or questioning, only tenderness, softly whispering, "It’s okay now, I’m here, don’t be scared."
Upon hearing this, Juliana pressed against his chest, sobbing.
"Elias Langley..." Her voice was muffled, "I want you."
His brow furrowed.
Though the air conditioning vent was blocked, the scent lingered, making the room untenable.
Elias immediately lifted her.
Juliana clung even tighter.
Suppressing surging heat, Elias carried her out of the room.
Outside, Raine Kane awaited instructions.
"Clean it up."
For Juliana’s reputation, handling quietly before tracing the mastermind was best.
Raine understood, entering the room to lead a team in quickly collecting air samples, as another team transported the unconscious Auden to the hospital.
Elias took Juliana to the car, her arms holding him tightly and refusing to let go.
Her hot breath against his neck made Elias tense, striving to stay calm.
"Behave, we’re going to the hospital."
Juliana felt a million ants gnawing at her veins, her remaining awareness dissolving under the drug effect, pleading tearfully in his ear.
"No... I don’t want a doctor... I want you..."
Yet her condition, if indulged, would harm her.
Elias resisted sinking with her, gently soothing her back, "The doctor can relieve your discomfort."
Juliana was on the verge of exploding.
If talks failed, she’d act.
Her palm tightened, using the last bit of clarity to ask, "Where? Say seriously!"
Elias shuddered, her touch igniting the restraint he maintained.
He looked at the driver, Zachary York, controlling his tone, "To the nearest hotel, hurry!"
...
They didn’t emerge from the hotel since entering that afternoon.
Only the next day did Elias take the peacefully sleeping Juliana for a medical examination.
Assured her bodily function had normalized, he breathed a sigh of relief.
Meanwhile, Raine Kane hastily arrived at the hospital with her findings.
"We’ve analyzed the air in the tea house room; it’s a new inhalable hallucinogen, not yet available on the domestic black market. A few people from Valtara arrived recently, though they were in contact with Florence Sinclair, but this doesn’t prove her involvement."
"No proof?" Juliana, seated on the hospital bed, though looking pale, had piercing eyes, "What about Auden Hughes?"
"Mr. Hughes said before meeting you yesterday, Florence did call asking to meet him, but he declined due to social engagements. He suspects she guessed about your meeting, thus..."
Juliana laughed coldly, "There’s no need to suspect, it was her."
Then, light in her eyes slowly condensed.
"Florence Sinclair, time to settle accounts with you."
