Chapter 148: Eluned Vs. Morwenna, A Battle Of Hands
Lia let out a genuine gasp.
"Huh?"
The last remnants of her walls completely shattered.
She didn’t finish her steak.
She scrambled out of her wooden chair, practically launching herself across the small kitchen as she threw her small arms around his muscular neck, burying her face into his shoulder.
"Thank you!" Lia cried out, her voice thick with happy overwhelming tears.
She pulled back slightly, grabbed his face with both hands, and aggressively kissed his cheek three times in rapid succession. "I love you very much, Big Brother! Mwah! Mwah! Mwah!"
"Alright, alright, that’s enough," Silas laughed loudly, reaching up and peeling her small, sticky hands off his face. "You’re getting grease on my shirt."
He gently set her back down on her feet. Lia was practically vibrating with excitement, her dark eyes shining with pure joy.
They finished their massive dinner in a state of domestic peace.
Silas cleaned the plates while Lia chattered endlessly about what kind of notebooks she wanted to buy and whether or not the academy would let her wear her new spider-silk jacket to class.
’She’s still as I remember... it would have been much better if we weren’t from the slums...’
They moved to the living room.
Silas dropped onto the expensive leather couch, turning on the massive, flat-screen television mounted on the wall.
He flipped the channel to a mindless, brightly colored Valoria City entertainment broadcast.
Lia immediately climbed up onto the couch next to him.
She didn’t sit on the other cushion. She curled up directly against his side, resting her head on his broad shoulder, completely exhausted by the emotional and physical whiplash of the day.
Within ten minutes, the soft hum of the television and the warm security of her brother’s presence completely knocked her out.
Silas looked down at her. She was fast asleep with a contented smile on her lips.
He chuckled softly, reaching out to gently pull the oversized gray t-shirt down over her knees.
"It’s just like those times..." Silas muttered quietly to himself, a wave of nostalgia hitting his chest.
He reached over, grabbing the remote off the glass coffee table, and turned off the TV.
The living room plunged into a soft, quiet darkness, illuminated only by the faint glow of the neon city lights bleeding through the rain-streaked window.
Silas stood up slowly, ensuring he didn’t wake her.
He walked over to the front door of the apartment.
He placed his hand flat against the sleek metal panel of the Spirit Lock.
He didn’t just re-engage the baseline security; he channeled a fraction of his own dense mana directly into the locking matrix.
The runic mechanisms glowed a brilliant gold, completely shutting anything from being able to enter the house without triggering an explosive backlash.
"I don’t have any other relatives so it should be good."
He walked back over to the couch.
Lia was muttering softly in her sleep.
"...new boots... don’t want the pink bow... stupid..."
Silas smiled, shaking his head. He reached down and scooped her up with one hand, effortlessly carrying her lightweight eleven-year-old frame over his shoulder.
He walked upstairs to his own master bedroom, gently laying her down directly in the center of his massive, comfortable bed.
He pulled the thick, heavy duvet up over her shoulders, tucking her in.
Silas stepped back, looking down at her.
He didn’t want her waking up in the morning wearing a greasy oversized t-shirt.
’Plus I have to time it properly so I come back when she’s awake at the very least.’ Silas thought, he would be talking with the Principal tomorrow... He had gotten into Valeria Academy on scholarship.
But for her, he was going to pay it... She was at least more happier about wanting to go to school than when he was her age.
’I remember I thought I could make it by posting one song from back on Earth.’ Silas thought, it was still on the internet in this world like this and there was no chance of that thing becoming famous. ’Right?’
Silas mentally accessed his Lord Inventory.
In a flash of golden pixelated light, the sleek dark canvas duffel bag from Weaver’s Spire materialized in his hand.
He unzipped the bag, pulling out the heavy, pristine winter sleepwear he had purchased, and set it neatly on the edge of the mattress for her.
He left the heavy duffel bag on the ground near the closet.
He walked around to the other side of the bed, kicking off his heavy combat boots. He climbed onto the mattress, lying down on his back with a heavy groan, staring up at the dark ceiling.
"What a day..." Silas sighed, rubbing the bridge of his nose.
Lia shifted in her sleep, rolling over and burying her face into his side.
"Big brother..." she mumbled into his ribs.
Silas almost melted away as he reached over, gently patting the crown of her messy brown hair.
"Don’t worry," Silas whispered into the quiet room with his golden-ringed eyes hardening in determination. "I’ll do my best."
He closed his eyes.
He didn’t have time to sleep.
He had a territory to run, a Grand Archive to build, and a Secret Realm raid to prepare for...
’I need to have the talk with the girls after all...’
Silas pulled up his glowing blue Lord interface in the darkness behind his eyelids.
He navigated past the inventory and the stat screens, locking onto the pulsing icon at the very top of the menu.
He tapped the [Descend] button.
Immediately, the world around him grew pitch black.
The physical sensation of the soft mattress and the cool, climate-controlled air of the Silverleaf apartment violently dissolved.
He was pulled into the rushing, pixelated vortex of the planar transit, his consciousness ripping through the fabric of the human world and plunging directly into the Sovereign Realm once again.
The transition ended with the familiar sensation of dense magical gravity returning to his limbs.
Silas opened his eyes.
He was standing perfectly still in the center of his private master bedchamber inside the Keep of the Blessed Land.
He looked around the room.
It was completely empty.
"Well, that’s an improvement..." Silas muttered dryly.
The last time he had ascended back to Earth and returned to his chamber, he had walked in on Kaelia, his painfully shy and fiercely loyal master chef, having a highly private intense personal moment on his bed while clutching his bedsheets.
He had expected to find at least Eluned or Morwenna lurking in his room, but the Keep was surprisingly quiet.
Silas rolled his shoulders, feeling the power of his Mythic Gold Core rapidly acclimating back to the highly saturated environment of the Umbral Basin.
He walked out of the master suite with his boots clicking rhythmically against the stone floor.
’I bought their gifts and since they’re being so calm... these girls most certainly deserve a whole lot more than that.’ Silas thought as he descended the wide, spiraling staircase heading toward the main ground floor.
"I’m hom—" Silas started to announce as he reached the bottom of the stairs.
He stopped completely dead in his tracks as the dining hall was a war zone.
Standing on opposite sides of the massive oak dining table were Eluned and Morwenna.
The two SSS-rank entities weren’t arguing about culinary techniques anymore. They were engaged in a violent terrifying contest of raw physical dominance.
They were arm wrestling!
Morwenna had her right elbow planted firmly on the oak wood.
The Dread Queen of the Astral Seas had stripped off her leather combat vest entirely, wearing only a tight sweat-soaked linen wrap around her chest.
Her massive scarred bicep was visibly bulging, the dense corded muscle straining against the skin as she gripped Eluned’s hand with terrifying bone-crushing force.
Eluned was not backing down.
The Goddess of Nature had hitched the flowing skirts of her elegant green silk dress up to her thighs, planting her boots wide on the slate floor for leverage.
Her delicate pale arm was locked against the pirate’s with her own pristine divinely forged muscles bunching and flexing with shocking brutal power.
"Put your back into it, trench-rat!" Eluned shrieked, her silver hair whipping around her face as she pushed against the pirate’s grip.
"I’m going to snap your wrist, weed!" Morwenna roared back, her stormy gray eyes burning with competitive fury.
Standing right between them, at the head of the table, was Kaelia.
The shy, easily intimidated master chef who was supposed to be the voice of reason and de-escalate conflicts while Silas was away, was completely abandoning her duties.
Instead of stopping them, Kaelia was jumping up and down, waving a wooden spoon in the air, her face flushed with adrenaline.
"Push! Push!" Kaelia cheered, completely hyping them on. "Break her guard, Morwenna! No, wait, use your leverage, Eluned!"
Silas stood in the archway, his eye twitching.
’I leave them alone for two hours...’ Silas thought, rubbing the bridge of his nose. ’Two hours.’
Morwenna let out a deafening roar.
She violently changed her footing with her heavy boots cracking the slate tiles beneath her. She flexed her massive bicep, her physical strength spiking astronomically, and aggressively slammed Eluned’s hand downward toward the oak table.
It looked like a guaranteed victory.
However, before Eluned’s knuckles could even graze the wood, the Goddess’s glowing green eyes flared with blinding divine light.
Eluned didn’t just resist the push... she strengthened her own muscles using raw, concentrated nature mana, increasing her physical density tenfold.
She dug her heels into the floor, her delicate jaw clenching, and immediately countered the momentum.
With a terrifying high-pitched scream of effort, Eluned violently reversed the leverage, driving Morwenna’s arm backward and aggressively slamming the pirate’s hand directly down onto the center of the heavy oak table.
BOOM!
The impact wasn’t just loud... it was an apocalyptic detonation.
The unrestrained physical force of an SSS-rank Goddess slamming an SSS-rank Pirate through a solid object generated a massive visible shockwave of compressed air.
The shockwave exploded outward from the point of impact. It ripped across the dining hall with terrifying velocity.
CRASH! CRASH! CRASH!
Every single heavy glass window lining the walls of the Keep instantly shattered into a million pieces, raining shrapnel down onto the courtyard outside.
The massive ironwood dining table...a piece of furniture designed to withstand a whole lot of weight instantly buckled under the pressure.
The wood splintered, groaned, and then completely vaporized, turning into a cloud of fine gray ash that rained down onto the floorboards.
Morwenna and Eluned were left standing awkwardly in the center of the room with their hands still locked together over a table that no longer existed.
Eluned didn’t care about the structural damage though. She ripped her hand free, throwing her head back and pumping her delicate fist high into the air in undeniable triumph.
"I won!" Eluned declared at the top of her lungs, her chest heaving with exertion. She looked down at the stunned pirate with a devastatingly smug sneer breaking across her flawless face. "How does Thora say it? Suck my titties, you pirate!"
Morwenna was quite shocked.
She stared at her empty hand, completely baffled that she had just been overpowered in a contest of raw strength by a woman who grew flowers for a living...
Then, the absurdity of Eluned using a dwarven insult hit her. Morwenna’s shock vanished, replaced by a loud barking snicker of genuine amusement.
"Alright, alright, you win this round, houseplant," Morwenna laughed, rubbing her sore wrist.
As the dust began to settle, the Keep’s automated high-tier restorative wards immediately activated.
The shattered glass in the window frames reversed course, flying backward and perfectly repairing themselves.
The pile of gray ash on the floor swirled upward, rapidly reconstructing the heavy oak dining table as if it had never been destroyed.
The room fell completely silent.
Silas utilized a fractional burst of his Gold Core’s velocity, completely displacing the air.
He appeared like a massive terrifying shadow directly behind Eluned.
Silas stood there, towering over the Goddess with his broad shoulders blocking out the light of the hearth.
His golden-ringed eyes were glowing fiercely in the dim room, radiating an unamused pressure that instantly froze the air in their lungs.
He looked down at her.
"What do you have to say for yourself, Elu?" Silas asked, his deep voice becoming a dangerously calm rumble that sent a violent shiver straight down her spine.
Eluned froze completely.
The triumphant arrogant smirk vanished from her face instantly. She slowly turned her head, looking up at the terrifying, glowing eyes of her Lord.
Morwenna, seeing the absolute terror on her rival’s face, immediately burst into loud obnoxious snickering, stepping back from the restored table to enjoy the execution.
Eluned swallowed incredibly hard. She frantically tried to fix her disheveled green silk dress, her cheeks burning a brilliant violently hot shade of crimson.
"Uh..." Eluned stammered, her divine composure entirely shattered as she offered a weak guilty smile. "Uh... Welcome back, my Lord."
