Chapter 269: She Will Be Reasonable

Au’dtair wrinkled his nose as the stench of another female drifted through the open hatch. He hadn’t expected something like that to set him off as much as it had, but maybe that was because he hadn’t really interacted with any females after he had met his mate.

"Huh," grunted Da’kea as he stepped over the threshold. "I don’t remember a time when I was this uncomfortable due to a scent. I can only imagine it is that much worse for you since this is your personal quarters."

Raguk nodded his head, not wanting to speak. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺

"My Lord, is that you?" came a sweet voice from inside of the room. The four males outside could hear the soft shuffle of feet as she walked from wherever she had been to the front. "I didn’t think that you would be back that fast. You must have missed me."

Raguk swallowed the vomit that was trying to escape his mouth. "Hardly," he sneered when he felt more in control of his body. "I came for something."

He turned to his second, more than willing to not deal with her anymore. "Call her father—" he said. Before he could finish his statement, he laid eyes on the female in front of him.

"My Lord," she crooned with what might have been a seductive smile on her face. She was wearing less than nothing. Only a scrap of cloth covered her female mound.

Seeing that she had captured the attention of the male she wanted, her smile became brighter as she trailed a finger down her chest and toward where she wanted his attention the most.

"You have to be fucking kidding me," growled Au’dtair as both he and Da’kea took a step back. They didn’t want their scent contaminated by the other female’s.

"Run the venting system for your King’s quarters," snapped Da’kea, taking charge since none of the other males seemed to be able to. "You need to get rid of that stench as fast as possible."

"Right away," agreed Trilug, not realizing that he was following the order of someone other than the horde leader.

"What the fuck are you doing in my quarters?" choked Raguk.

"I missed you," admitted the female, "I thought you were never coming back, and I needed to be close to you. Have you finally realized that I am so much better than her?"

Raguk let out a harsh snarl and grabbed the naked woman by the neck, stalking forward until he finally had her pinned up against the wall.

"What?" she gasped, frantically scratching at the male’s hand as he pressed down even harder, cutting off her air.

"My Lord, her father is not going to like this," stuttered Trilug as he entered the room after Raguk. He looked back and forth between the most honorable male he had ever met and the female who had managed to break into his room.

"His father is going to like it even less when you let him know that she was fed to the Istar queen," said Da’kea, patting Trilug on the shoulder.

"What?" asked the second, more confused than ever. "Istar queens have been extinct for over a hundred years."

"You keep believing that," chuckled Au’dtair as he watched the green female changing colors. She was now an interesting shade of purple that he had never seen before. So delightful.

"Is that what my mate would want?" asked Raguk, looking over his shoulder to the other two males. "To feed her to the Istar queen?"

"I would imagine," nodded Da’kea. "Princess is probably getting hungry by now, but she is a bit picky about her food. I don’t know if this offering would be acceptable."

"I am going to assume it no longer matters if it is after midnight," chuckled Au’dtair, crossing his arms over his chest.

"Fine," sneered Raguk. "Give her to the Istar queen with my regards."

Trilug opened his mouth to argue, but the look on his Lord’s face made him shut it again. "Of course, my lord," he muttered. "What should we tell her father when he asks about her whereabouts?" He tried to subtly remind Raguk what he was risking by doing this, but the other male just didn’t care.

"Tell him that she tried to get between a mated pair. He will understand," growled Raguk. With a flick of his wrist, he flung the female across the room toward the door. "She also destroyed all of my furs that were supposed to be gifted to my mate."

Both offenses were punishable under Uugazt law, but it was the first one that carried a death sentence. Mated pairs were a legend amongst the Uugazts, with less and less of them managing to find their true mates. To get between them and try to separate them meant death.

"Understood," grunted Trilug. He wasn’t aware that his lord had found a mate, but it wasn’t his place to disagree with him.

"Just put her on one of our shuttles and tell the computer that it is a gift for Princess; the ship will do the rest," advised Da’kea.

Once Trilug and the female left the quarters, the three males quickly made their own exit, practically gasping for clean air. The vents worked as they should, getting rid of the scent, but there was a slimy feeling that still seemed to cling to the room, even after the female had left.

"I advise you to just burn everything," grunted Au’dtair. Thankfully, he had been in his nano armor the whole time, and they had been working overtime trying to get the scent away from him. But there was only so much that they could do.

Hopefully, a good shower and Mei Xing wouldn’t be able to scent the other female. If she could...

He shuddered at the very thought of her knowing what might have happened to one of her mates.

"If she asks you any questions about your scent, tell her honestly what happened, including the fact that you had sent the female to Princess," grunted Da’kea as he typed in a command on his wrist unit. He was making sure that the nanos didn’t let anything contaminate him.

Raguk grunted and nodded his head in understanding. His mate wouldn’t hold it over his head when it wasn’t his fault, but he knew how he would be feeling if the situation was reversed. "Let’s find the furs that are in storage and leave," he said, more than willing to put this whole thing behind him.

Da’kea let out a slight sound and clasped the other male on the shoulder. "Don’t worry. She will be reasonable."
