Chapter 256: An Offer To Help
Ye’tab was about to open his mouth when my stomach chose that moment to make itself known. Raguk looked down at me, his eyes widened. "Are you okay?" he demanded, coming around the captain’s chair and crouching down in front of me.
His large hand spanned my stomach as if trying to keep whatever had made that noise from coming out. It was incredibly sweet.
"I’m fine," I reassure him. I turned my attention back to where Silver stood, waiting for directions from Midnight. "I’ll let you two finish up. I am going to get some lunch since I missed breakfast."
At the mention of food, GA rushed toward me and picked me up, uncaring if I ended up flashing anyone. "We need to get her fed," growled my caretaker, clearly not happy with the fact that I skipped a meal.
I hid my face in his dreads as he carried me out of the command bridge and to the cafeteria on the same level.
"You know I can walk, right?" I laughed as I was placed gently in my regular chair. The server bot came out of the wall and sped over to our table.
"Why bother?" demanded GA as he sat down beside me. I took the menu it handed me and scanned through it. My eyes lit up when I saw exactly what I wanted.
"What can I get you?" asked the small bot as it came up beside me.
"I’ll have the BLT sandwich, extra crispy bacon with a coke to drink, please, and thank you."
This was great. I had been craving a bacon sandwich lately, and this will definitely satisfy me.
The guys put in their orders, and I turned my attention to Raguk.
"I am surprised that you don’t have any questions," I said with a smile on my face.
"Questions don’t matter when the answers won’t change the outcome," he said with a shrug of his massive shoulders. I was a bit surprised that the furniture could easily hold him, but I made a mental note to give him a bigger chair. There was no way he could be comfortable right now.
I didn’t know how to reply to his comment. And frankly, I appreciated his line of thinking. He was right, knowing the answers wouldn’t change anything.
"If you change your mind, let me know," I said, placing a hand on his forearm. He looked at me and nodded his head.
"I’ll let you know," he promised, and I turned my attention back to Ye’tab and Tha’juen.
"Okay, now, you two. Spill."
They looked at me in confusion. "Spill what?" asked Tha’juen, looking around the table for something to spill.
"Earth expression," said Ye’tab. "It implies that someone has something that they have to say and that they should just come out and say it."
I raised an eyebrow at the male sitting across the table from me.
"I am the Informant," said Ye’tab. "And I completely forgot about trying to find the Hive."
"I am the Hunter," added Tha’juen, not willing to let the other male take all the blame. He had seriously disappointed his mate by not providing her with the information that she needed in a timely manner.
"Okay," I said with a shrug. The bot had arrived with my food, and I leaned back, giving it enough room to be able to send the plate down. He had even added a side of chips to it.
"Okay?" asked Tha’juen, pressing himself back in his chair as if I had struck him. "That’s it?"
"Well, it’s not like I haven’t been neck deep in dealing with a bunch of shit. Even if I had the information earlier, it doesn’t mean that I would have had the ability to act on it." Maybe getting fucked to within an inch of my life made me a bit more laid back, but I was really not upset.
"Can you find out where they are now?" I asked, picking up a chip and taking a bite. The salty goodness made me moan in delight.
"Shouldn’t be a problem," said Ye’tab. Putting down his fork, he started to type a bunch of codes into his computer unit.
"It can wait," I assured him, biting into my sandwich. Once again, I moaned in pure bliss.
"Is she always like this when she eats?" asked Raguk as he looked around the table at the other males. He picked up the leg on his plate and bit into it.
"You have no idea," grunted GA as he cut the raw meat on his plate into smaller portions.
"You should hear her eating sweets," continued Tha’juen as he, too, sliced into his lunch.
----
In under three hours, Silver had added his ship to our growing armada, and Ye’tab had a link that I could use to call one of the Hive ships.
I contemplated changing out of the dress, but honestly, it gave me that much more confidence.
And something told me that I could use as much confidence as I could get if I was going to strike a deal with the queen of assassins.
I sat in my chair, my males behind me, as Jun Li imputed the code to contact the other ship.
I closed my eyes and took in a deep breath as I listened to the ringing sound.
I just needed to fake it until I made it.
"What do you want?" came a female voice, knocking me out of my head and back into the moment. I opened my eyes and stared at the woman in front of me.
She was completely different from what I was expecting. Her dress was completely white, with a white lace helmet covering her face and head. The dress was nothing short of a work of art; her dress seemed to shimmer under the lights of her ship.
"I want to help you," I said. I was tempted to lift my chin or shift in my seat, but I didn’t want to give away just how uncomfortable I was feeling. This was my last step before taking on the Alliance, and I needed the Hive on my side.
"You want to help me?" she asked, her voice buzzing through the comms like a swarm of bees. "I didn’t realize that I needed help."
"I think you want your planets back, don’t you?" I asked, raising my eyebrow. "I can help you with that."
