Chapter 235: I Am Terrified Of You

After a quick dinner of lasagna, I laid down on top of Midnight’s chest and let the rest of the guys settle into my nest for the night.

I was surprised that Tha’juen had opted to sleep with us instead of on the bed, but I was happy to have him. Mind you, I would definitely need more furs if this was going to be a regular occurrence.

We all slept for about fifteen hours, clearly needing the sleep after dealing with the Istar queens. Eating breakfast, we waited for the other shoe to drop.

"Pippa has been holding for the last ten minutes, refusing to hang up," said Jun Li as I bit into a crispy piece of bacon. We were once again all seated around my usual table in the cafeteria, munching on our food.

I rolled my eyes and looked down at my food. I was almost done, but I knew that the pampered princess was not going to be kept waiting for long. As it was, I was surprised that Jun Li got her to hang up last night.

"Fine," I grumbled, grabbing my extra-large cup of coffee from the table. Jun Li had assured me that the food replicators could make anything that I wanted, but I was not willing to take a chance with my normal food. And having it try and replicate my coffee? Ha!

The males wordlessly stood up and followed me out of the room and down the corridor to the command bridge. I really should add some artwork or something on the walls of this hallway, seeing as I was walking through it so much. The white and silver walls were really starting to remind me of a hospital setting...

Or an insane asylum.

Maybe that was it. I was never abducted, only trapped inside this never-ending nightmare of aliens, Alliances, and the demon known as Pippa Flynn.

I looked over my shoulder at the five males trailing behind me, talking to each other in a friendly manner.

Maybe not everything was a nightmare...

----

"What do you want?" I asked, taking a sip of my coffee before putting it down on the armrest beside the captain’s chair.

I studied the human woman on the other side of the screen and cocked my head to the side. How was it that she was so put together at all hours of the day or night? Clearly, she had to practice some sort of dark magic to accomplish that. It just wasn’t normal!

"You need to turn yourself in and face justice," said Pippa, leaning on the captain’s chair in Stargazer’s command bridge. I looked at her, my brain trying to understand her words. Maybe it was that I hadn’t had as much sleep as I should have or that she was speaking a different language because the way I looked at it, she wasn’t making any sense.

"I’m sorry, I don’t quite understand what you are saying. You want me to face justice? For what?" I asked. I picked up my coffee and took a long gulp. I was really not up for this crap right now.

"For all the poor, innocent people you killed," stated Pippa, straightening up and raising her chin. Oooh, the chin raise. I was so scared. I should turn myself in right this second.

"I haven’t killed an innocent... yet," I stated calmly as Midnight draped a fur over my lap. The smart male always knew just what to do to make me happy. "But I am sure that you can change my mind on that one."

"I beg your pardon?" demanded Pippa, raising her hand to her neck in shock. "Those poor Sisalik on that ship you destroyed were completely innocent. It was a research vessel for...."

"Fucks sake. Come on, Pippa. You can say it. Repeat after me... For. Fucks. Sake," I said, a giant smile on my face. I loved pushing her button whenever I could, and this time was no different. "And do you actually know what they were doing on that vessel?" I continued, the smile dropping as I remembered that young girl.

"Research, duh," sneered Pippa, clearly using every last bit of her brain on that one.

But something was starting to bother me. If she really was too stupid to live, how did she survive out in the universe for so long?

"Yes," I agreed with a nod, my brain now going off on another mystery altogether... one that, if I were right, would change everything. "So, why are you calling?"

"You need to turn yourself in," repeated Pippa, letting out a huff of frustration. Was she really that good of an actor? Or was I giving her too much credit?

"Not going to happen," I said, turning my full attention back to the human in front of me. "Was there anything else?"

"If you aren’t going to turn yourself in, let me at least meet up with you. Wherever you want. I think it is time that we meet in person," said Pippa, looking straight at me.

"Sure," I agreed with a nod. "Let me know the closest Starbucks to you, and we’ll meet there."

"But there aren’t any Starbucks outside of Earth."

"And you don’t know Earth’s location. Gee, that’s too bad. I guess we won’t be able to meet up then," I shrugged, the sarcastic smile on my face growing bigger and bigger.

"Are you really that scared of Stargazer that you won’t meet up? You can even bring your government experiment with you if you are that terrified," said Pippa with a sneer on her face. "Or are you scared of little old me?"

"I am terrified of you," I admitted, looking at the woman across from me. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚

If I was capable of feeling fear, I might actually be afraid of her. But as it was, she didn’t know that I was lacking that emotion.

And I think she wanted me to be scared of her.

But why?

Was it truly because she wanted to be scary? Or was it simply that she wanted to be more dominant than me?

It was something that I would have to figure out, and soon. Because if there was one thing that I have learned since being awakened, it was that the universe would chew you up and spit you out in a second if you gave it a chance.

And yet, Pippa was still standing.
